I just visited this restaurant and paid over $ 10 for a half a grilled cheese sandwich and small cup of soup. This is very expensive. On top of that the spinach was wet so made the entire sandwich wet and the cheese wasn’t even melted. The soup was luke warm at best. I will go back to The Great Northwest Soup company after remodel is done where they have a whole grilled cheese and 8oz soup for $ 8.99 and the quality is a lot better, fresher ingredients, etc. Sorry Yellow Dot, I won’t be returning.

I work down the street so Yellow Dot is a regular lunch spot for me. The line is always long, but they move through it quickly. Their focus during lunch is getting people through the line as quickly as possible, so if you’re looking for personalized service you might want to come during off-peak. The sandwiches here are DELICIOUS — the Tuscan chicken panini changed my life, seriously. Uptown grilled cheese and pulled pork anything are also amazing. My biggest complaint is that there are always, always, ALWAYSBUGS in the pastry case. I’m sure the desserts are amazing, they look amazing, but I can’t try any of them because they’re clearly infested with bugs. Please, Yellow Dot, plastic-wrap your pastries so I can order some! Or even better, do something about the bugs. Yuck.

Stopped by for a quick coffee this morning and the employees were horrible. Waited for 10 minutes for someone to come to the counter only to be treated unkindly. The guy taking our orders was very short with us and extremely rude. The coffee isn’t even that good. Probably won’t ever come here again. Based on this experience would also never recommend this place to anyone.

Came here for breakfast as I work really close, and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and delicious breakfast burritos! The breakfast burritos, which are served from 7 – 11 during the week, are made to order and are the perfect serving of piping hot tastiness to help you get ready for the day. Mine had bacon, scrambled egg, cheese, tomatoes, and potatoes in it – super hearty and well made. A lot of other reviewers have said that the service is a bit snippy, but the people working breakfast were extremely pleasant! I’ll have to stop by for lunch and see if the vibes are different.

I cannot recommend their chili. It was their soup of the day today. It was thin and devoid of flavor. Loose, crumbled, oily ground beef sat at the bottom of a watery broth with a few undercooked beans. This, presented in their«bowl», a 12oz cardboard container with a plastic lid. Depressing.

So I stop at the Yellow Dot Café for a quick sammy(I’ve been before had always had a decent experience) — I order half a tuna salad on the darkest bread they have. In exchange for about 7 bucks they handed me 7.5 lbs. of tuna salad. Outstanding tuna salad with just a hint too much onion. Just a hint! The bread was normal sandwich bread — the kind of bread you might find on a breakfast buffet at a motel that offers that sort of thing in their lobby after a crappy night’s sleep. The delicious tuna salad, all 7.5(on the wet-side) pounds of it, had a drastically unfair, leveraged-advantage over the bread. Had the bread been toasted… it would have been an easier, less messy sammy to eat, but it would not have been enough to fend off the advances of the seductive tuna. From the beginning, please please pardon the pun, that bread was toast. Oh shit, almost forgot about the avocado I had them add.(That’s probably why my sandwich was $ 7 and not $ 1.75. Kidding. sort of.) My point is that this was a cartoon of a sandwich, nay, half a sandwich! — that in fact could have kicked the ass of any whole sandwich, hoagie or club. Honestly, youcould have put that much tuna salad on an extra-large pizza and it still would have felt like you were being generous with the topping(not that I’m suggesting you start serving tuna salad pizza). Anyway, great sandwich.

This is my go to breakfast place, almost daily. Occasionally lunch as well. The food I’ve had has all been well-made and fresh. I usually go for a bagel and cream cheese in the morning, sometimes the spinach burrito. Their Hawaiian Mocha is delicious. I also like the Greek Wrap and the Baked Potato(it’s HUGE). The people who work here are all super nice. Alyssa, I still miss you! :-(

It’s super odd and a complete waste of time to select a breakfast place, get in your car, deal with traffic, pay for parking, stand in line, get to the counter, order(after hearing them tell the guy in front of me that they don’t have any potatoes) and then the guy tells you WHENYOUAREABOUTTOPAY that they don’t have any eggs on a Saturday morning at 10:00. Last time we were here they didn’t have any tomatoes. Owners/Mgmt really need to get in the game with planning and purchasing. Not going back.

I had the pulled pork burrito, which was large and delicious. The child’s grilled cheese was average, not great. The staff were very friendly and my food was ready quickly. Great for a quick lunch.

I work just down the street so the Yellow Dot is part of my lunch rotation through the week. They keep me coming back for those tuna melts. Yummmm. The right amount of crunch from veggies mixed with the tuna. Its really good. I love the tuna melt so much that I have yet to explore the menu further. There are a few other items I’d like to give a shot though. Be prepared for really long wait times during the week day lunch rush. It can get a little crazy and a little slow. I think its still worth it though.

I work a few blocks from this café and often come here to study in between my classes and work shift. I usually get a coffee or pastry and sit in the corner on my computer. The coffee is mediocre, usually tasting slightly burnt like Starbucks and the food is very average, you can tell very few things are made fresh/not packaged or processed. Today was like any other day, I got a muffin and decided to go for a strawberry lemonade since I’m not a fan of their coffee. The strawberries were plopped into the bottom of my cup from a big white bin and lemonade was filled to the 1⁄3 mark. Then he filled the rest with ice… not really worth the 4 dollars for 1⁄3 lemonade, 2⁄3 ice. A guy with short brown hair rung me up and gave me the muffin. When I asked for the lemonade he pointed to the counter by the coffee machine. It’s not a huge deal but I don’t understand why he couldn’t bring the lemonade to where he rung me up given that I was the only customer there. It seemed like he wanted me to leave. So I went and sat in my corner and attempted to connect to the internet but my computer was having a hard time connecting. I tried a few different networks and then asked the same guy at the counter if there is something he could reset because the internet isn’t working. All he said was«no, its probably backed up because everyone upstairs uses it». So I then left and had to go buy something at coffee shop just to use the internet. Waste of my money. Overall, it was a really unpleasant interaction. I know living in this day and age that its really simple to just reset your router that gives the internet signal. The fact that he lied and said there is nothing to reset really put me off. I won’t be returning and I definitely don’t recommend.

a friend and I stopped into this café today as it was conveniently next to a store we had just been shopping at. I ordered the bbq pulled pork baked potato with a side of tomato and basil soup. The service was friendly and our food arrived fast(they weren’t very busy). The portion was quite huge! The potato was delicious and full of flavor, and the soup was also pretty yummy. nice and creamy and also very flavorful. I don’t know if this is a place I would absolutely go out of my way to visit regularly, but I definitely wouldn’t mind stopping here again for a bite to eat in the future.

Meh… I wasn’t impressed with this coffee shop. The person working the register was pretty rude. When I walked up to place my order, she ignored me at first. Then I told her I wanted a cup of coffee. She didn’t bother to tell me what the total was for my drink. Instead, she just looked at the $ 5 in my hand and took it. She proceeded to give me change, never offering to give me a receipt. I still don’t know how much the total was with tax. After she rang me up, she just stood there staring at me waiting for me to leave. lol. Talk about really crappy service right? I haven’t been to a coffee shop where people are so blatantly rude. The coffee wasn’t that good. I ordered a medium cup of coffee and it looked like a small cup that you would get at Starbucks(please note that I don’t like Starbucks that much). I don’t know whether or not the lady gave the barrister the right order because she basically grunted at me throughout the entire ordering process. I don’t even know how a medium cup looks like because it was my first time here. The ambiance was a little too dark for my taste. The music was also kind of irritatingly louder than other places. I’d imagine music should be soothing since some people go to cafes to work/study. My friend and I lost track of time and the new guy who was manning the register informed us that they were closing. Again, the customer service was really lacking. No smile on his face. His body language said, «get out, we’re closed.» lol. I got the message loud and clear. My friend who is really nice kept apologizing to him for losing track of time. A normal person would say, «its okay.» He just nodded his head. Don’t think I’ll ever come back here again. Two out of the three people who I interacted with were not very nice.

I like their food most of the time, they are kind of inconsistent and that is the reason I am going with 3 stars instead of 4. I go there on lunch and take it to go, it takes them about 20 minutes(which is a little slow for me) but overall they have a good selection of hot sandwiches and soups– perfect for a cold Seattle day. You can expect to pay around $ 12 which is on the high end but fairly average here in South Lake Union.

Really not good. The atmosphere is nice our waitress was nice, but I don’t think she«gets» waitressing. It’s not just drop a plate on the table and walk away until check time. Food was not good and when you pay $ 60 for lunch I think it should at least be enjoyable. I got the $ 12 chicken panini with side salad. Tiny tiny sandwich and I ordered no tomato. The side salad was a mountain of tomatoes with some lettuce and no dressing. Husband had COLD eggs benedict. One thin slice of lox per bagel and soggy potatoes. Daughter had farmer scramble, eggs were slimy they were so undercooked. She couldn’t eat it. waitress cleared our plates and they were practically untouched. Also sent back the iced tea, was more than half full, because it tasted so awful. Still charged us for it, of course! If she had any aptitude for customer service she woulda at least taken the tea off our bill. We didn’t argue just paid for it and left as fast as possible.

I’ve ordered from them a few times for lunch and have asked for it to be delivered to work. They do so for just a couple dollars extra. I’ve only ordered the thai chicken wrap which I haven’t had — that’s for the boss — and the pork burrito for me. It was really yummy with lots of great sauce, and it was filling. All I ate was the burrito. Food: 4 Service: 4 Ambiance: NA Parking: NA but it’s South Lake Union so not much parking anywhere

Ok. This place is more about the coffee than the food. There ® definitely better places to get a sandwich but the coffee is good. And less expensive and crowded than the Starbucks around the corner. It is a good spot for a casual meeting and the place is light and sunny. I tried the lunch once and it was ok. Nothing special I have to admit compared to the food trucks around the corner. But for a decent cup of coffee it is pretty good.

This spot is absolutely adorable! I think what I liked most was the interior and the layout. And without wanting to turn anyone away from at least trying it out, the food was good. When trying to decide on what I thought of this place, customer service keeps coming to mind. Almost like it could be called the yellow flag café. The gal that took my order was a little snippy, never made eye contact or smiled, and was also applying chap stick as I spoke to her. She wasn’t rude at all but it appeared to me that she’s used to a really regular clientele and just appeared to be bored out of her mind. A few menu items popped out to me. The offerings of paninis, cold sandwiches, salads and even wraps all sounded good. Having a recent craving for fried chicken, I spotted the buffalo chicken wrap and decided I absolutely had to have it. Sad to say though, the chicken wasn’t fried — which is good for my health — but when I think of buffalo and chicken in the same sentence, I suppose I had a different expectation. The housemade sauce also appeared to be Sriracha + Thousand Island, which I did not like. It was far too spicy and also very milky in color. I hate to say this wasn’t an edible lunch but I managed to eat half of the wrap and toss the remainder out. The coffee list looked good and many friends have commented to me that this place is a gem. So I think perhaps on this visit I ended up with the wrong cashier and the wrong order. I’d definitely still come back and with so much to try and lots of space to sit and eat(even in the sun in the summer), it’s certainly a really cute, quaint SLU option.
