Empire 1 Nursery

Yes! Great nursery! Small enough to where the nursery stock is VERY well cared for. I’ve always got nice, healthy roses from Empire and would highly recommend them. Very knowledgeable staff, too!

They’re in SEBASTOPOL now!!! GO THERE!!! They’re the greatest nursery, ever!

CLOSED: I am sure this was a great place at some point. It was in business for 31 years… Until last summer, when it closed.
It’s a long drive from the freeway and was disappointing to find it shut down and deserted.
Too bad.

I heart this place for tomatoes, fruit trees and bare root roses.
This week, they made me a really happy girl, when after hitting several other nurseries (who were all out of Yellow Pear Tomatoes) Empire had a bunch to pick from, and they were healthy and available in 2 different sizes.
I walked outta here with not 1 but 4 different tomato plants for about $ 8 total.
The staff is always friendly, always knowledgable, and they have some of the nifties little garden chockeys and lotions and potions to check out at the counter as well.
Oh and they have the cat in the box — if you don’t know what I’m talking about. you got to go see for yourself. You are shopping along reading the boxes of bulbs, and *pop* here is a box called ‘cat in a box’ and sure enough. there is a cat, in the box. Awesome.
