The experienced technicians took care of a serious problem in my Honda CRV recently. My car often would not start after driving for 30 minutes and then stoping for 5 – 10 min. Then, if it started, the engine would die a mile down the road without warning. I changed my battery and air filter to no avail.
I had heard that K-​Tech was the best at diagnosing problems. I dropped my car off at 8 am and appreciated the helpful office staff. Since this is my primary transportation I was nervous about them fixing it ASAP. I called at 10 am and asked what they had found. They had isolated the problem as a fuel injector relay andhad ordered one. Delivery of the part wasnt until 2 pm. I called at 2:30 and they wer out test driving my car. Excellent!!! When I picked it up the bill was as predicted. I test drove my car to try and reproduce the problem.
It ran flawlessly! In fact the car runs better overall now. I highly recommend KTech for those tough problems.

I had a great first time experience with K-​Tech! Excellent customer service. Monica was really friendly, knowledgeable, and went out of her way to find an affordable solution to my car trouble while keeping me updated each step of the way. I also love that there is a 2 year warranty on the part, which gives me peace of mind. Great location off of downtown Sebastopol. Really appreciate that they participate in the GoLocal rewards bucks program and their refer-​a-​friend program (got to give a free oil change to my friend who sent me to them). I plan to go back next time I need work done.
I do wish that they had more loaner cars (they were all out so I didn’t get to use one for the few days my car was with them).

We took our sons 2000 Toyota 4 Runner in as the car was shaking severely at high speeds.
We were given an estimate of $ 850 and told it was the Driveline U-​Joint and rear axle bearings.
Parts were ordered and we were kept up on the progress. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. When we picked-​up the car the costs were slighly less than the estimate and the car was repaired to our satisfaction. Definelty would return to K-​Tech!

I have been a customer at K-​Tech for a few years now and I am impressed at how their customer service has improved drastically. Always top quality work, and now there are some really great folks in the office. Thanks ladies!

I recently had a positive experience with K-​Tech Auto. I had a challenge with my brakes engaging properply. They were able to detect the real problem with my Master Cylinder bypassing. I was able to compare their pricing, and found that they were being honest and reasonable. Two important factors when doing business with anyone. I also worked with a technician who was extremely warm and personable. A real down to earth person. I highly reccomend their service.

After being bombarded by mailers from this group, I needed car work, and thought since they bug me constantly with mailers, I’d call them and see what they’d say about my car issue. The phone rang, clicked and a message came up saying the call would be recored… then it rang some more and a guy said «K-​TECH, can you wait a minute?» sure I said. Not knowing the guy had blown me off completely. I was recording the call as well, and at 5minutes I hung up and called again… I went through the cycle again and the guy picked up… and was rude. «Im the only one here» was his excuse for blowing my call off. (I called around 9am or so) I asked to speak to his supervisor. he blew that Idea off as well.
Oh ! the guy did mention it’s a $ 150.for their «lets see what’s wrong fee» even if youve been to 4 other mechanics at 120 bucks a pop,. Who provided printed out diagnostic review of what’s wrong. «nope everyone pays 150… no matter what» !
They guy was a totally negative jerk.
My First Impression…
My first impression of this Mechanic shop is to not do business with them, since they act as though they don’t need more work, it’s most likely you’ll be over charged for their work and there work can be less, than a shop that take pride in customer service. Totally upset and turned off, to this business.

We’ve been using K-​Tech for a few years now and we have had nothing but great experiences. Our most recent visit was to repair the power steering and front end in our 2006 Nissan Quest. They were very clear on what parts needed repair and we weren’t asked to pay anything over their estimate. Our repair took several days and they supplied me with a free loaner car. Everyone we’ve dealt with at K-​Tech has been friendly, knowledgeable and upfront and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to my friends.

They convinced my wife to perform about $ 4000 of service. Fine by me, she’s keeping the car. Driving on the family vacation, the transmission fails, costing us another $ 6000 in another state. You’d, think they would have noticed an issue with the transmission especially when she paid for a transmission service. I am amazed that this was missed!

These goons had my truck for 6 months almost a dozen different times and each time I got it back supposedly fixed it would literally die rolling off of the lot. They assured me every time they found the problem and that it was fixed to the tune of $ 1200 each time taking a random shot at diagnosing the problem, none of which actually fixed it. Finally I pulled it after giving them what I felt was more than enough time to fix it. The guy I brought it to fixed it in a weekend for 300 bucks and now k tech refuses to pay me back for the work they failed to do. Crooks isn’t even close to what these chums are. Beware.

These guys are hi-​tech and know newer cars. They happen to have a journeyman Mazda mechanic working there and they did an excellent job giving my neglected car a breath of fresh air. I rather go to an independent mechanic than a coporate dealership… that just might be me.

DO NOT GO HERE! I recently took my car here to get diagnosed as it has having issues. They told me what was wrong and then quoted me almost $ 1400 to fix it. In addition, they told me I would also need to replace my timing belt for another $ 1000. I immediately got my car out of there and took it to a friend who was able to fix the issue in less than 2 hours. The parts cost $ 215. So that means the labor costs at this shop would have been $ 1200 for two hours of work??? That’s insane. In addition, my friend told me my timing belt was fine and didn’t need replacing. Lastly, when I got my car out of their shop there was no receipt or diagnostic report, as that’s what I paid for. Also, they had removed my engine covers and instead of putting them back in place, left them and the screws thrown in my passenger side footwell. So unprofessional. This place is a joke, would have been cheaper to go to a dealership, and that’s saying something! If you prefer not to be ripped off, avoid this place

Don’t let the humble setting and small size of this shop fool you in to thinking this is a small back yard operation. K Tech is a full on modern shop. Expensive? Yes all good shops are. K-​tech has obviously out grow there current location but still is the only place in town that is capable of dealing with modern cars. That’s probably why they are always busy.

Do not use these guys. I have a 2007 Acura and he just needed an ignition switch. They tried to get me with a full motor mount job, wiring, etc… for the tune of about $ 3000. The car is worth $ 2000. I ordered the ignition switch through them on the phone, and I told him 5 minutes later to cancel it. He called right back and they said TOO LATE. They double-​charged me for the parts. I brought the car to 2 honest mechanics I know (both who have all 5 star ratings) and they said this company is a rip-​off. RUN, don’t walk, RUN…

Know this: when you give this business your address, they put you on a mailing list for frequent solicitations for business. I have called and spoken with the office manager about getting off this list and was told IT CAN’T BE DONE! They apparently do not control the list once you’re on it, as it is managed through a third party, and they state they cannot remove you from the list. I have moved and the stupid solicitations («free seaonal checkup» (ie, let us find what we can charge you for)?? no thanks) followed me. I do not use this garage anymore due to poor experiences in the past, but it looks like I’ll have a lifetime of unwanted wasteful paper mail as a reminder of this bad experience.

BOTTOM LINE: Lie, cheat, steal, gouge; no honor or integrity; incompetent. greedy. In 40+ years of maintaining a vehicle, this is the first time I have ever filed complaints with consumer protection agencies such as CA BAR and BBB. Kate and her business ktech is by far, the very worst experience I have ever had with an auto repair facility. you pay premium rates for cheap parts and shoddy labor. If you are considering ktech as an option, don’t. do yourself one huge favor and go anywhere else.

UPDATE: parts fail: 16 months and 19k miles post ktech «repair», rotors/​discs and brakes failed. Mechanic fixing the problem says «no wonder, these are low quality parts»
UPDATE: parts fail. 13 months and 12k miles post ktech replacing the wheel bearings, they have failed. reason: ktech uses the cheapest after market garbage parts. Good wheel bearings are supposed to last 100k miles. These lasted 12k miles.
UPDATE: parts fail. 11 months past the lashed-​together «repair» work. Emissions Parts have now failed. Mechanic who is re-​doing the same repairs says «who did this work?!»
SUMMARY: I made the mistake of trusting ktech to be capable, honest and well-​intentioned. That was a huge and very costly mistake on my part.
JOY RIDING: Is the CA BAR’s term for a repair facility using a customer’s car for their own personal or business purposes. During the final week k-​tech had my car, their chief mechanic and manager put 460 personal miles in the vehicle Although the in/​out mileage recorded on invoices verifies the unaccounted for extra mileage, Kate the owner refuses to compensate me for it. She does not deny it happened. She simply refuses to compensate for it.
OVERVIEW: It took K-​tech 25 days to complete a repair they told me would take a few days. I took it to them for emissions work, which they deceptively and immediately declared to be «completed» in order to get me to commit to 4.5k worth of extras, tie rods, brakes, ABS, etc. After that major work was done, we found out the emissions stuff had not been fixed at all. In the following weeks, 3X they declared the car «fixed», and 3X it malfunctioned immediately and had to be returned to them. Incompetent.
THE BAIT: Everything about the way they present and sell themselves to customers.
THE BAIT: They solicited my business by telling me they were Volvo emissions repair specialists who were in a business partnership with a reputable, well established STAR compliance repair facility in Santa Rosa.
THE SWITCH: Ktech has no partnership with any STAR inspection facilities. and clearly they know very little about repairing Volvo emissions systems. They were unable to complete the actual emissions repair that I paid them for, which was to make the car ready to pass the CA STAR inspection. $ 4300 and 3+ weeks, and the car still failed the inspection.
THE SWITCH: The guy with all the certificates hanging on the wall is not the guy who does actual work. Kate the owner does none of the work. So don’t believe photos of them diligently working on cars with happy smiling faces. I saw one anonymous mechanic in the back with no visible credentials who was doing the actual work. One guy doing the work (clearly identifiable because of having grease and oil on his clothes), and other people in clean uniforms posing as technicians. The shop always seemed to be overbooked, many cars sitting around half done.
THE TRUTH: Their prices are higher than dealership repair prices. I was willing to pay the extra because I was short on time leaving for a cross country trip, and thought I would be receiving top notch professional service. In the end, Ktech delivered faulty, amateur level repair work. Their true expertise lies within the art of the swindle, which they perpetrate systematically upon the customer.
THE DISS: Once ktech had my car and a significant financial investment from me for that first «repair» they just shelved the project. Most days, nothing new had happened, no new information, and I still had no car. Eventually they stopped answering or returning my calls. I had to finally take the bus to their location, and appear in person just to find out what was going on and why I was being ignored.
PASS THE BUCK, GOOD COP/​BAD COP: In response to my physical appearance at the shop and request for no BS information regarding this never ending repair and shell game, Kate the owner told me it was out of her hands, and I better try and figure it out by talking to her employee mechanic, a big intimidating guy with an attitude and no authority, and also no information. The entire ktech techie-​uniformed crew played this same type of game for weeks, I had the feeling they had perpetrated this M.O. countless times previously. It was teamwork designed to wear the prey down, and it works, and they know that.

I did have a very pleasant experience at K-​Tech when I brought in my 2012 Subaru Forester for 50k service. I did feel the price was a bit high. They told me that they found an oil leak and needed to do extensive testing. After the test was completed, they quoted me $ 1700 to completely take apart the engine and reseal it.
I took the car to Tillett’s in Santa Rosa (Subaru specialist) today for a second opinion. The owner personally spoke to me, told me my car is perfectly fine, the engine is fine, and the repair is absolutely unnecessary. He personally checked it out and had his top technician check it also.
After reading additional reviews of K-​Tech, I see I am not the first person that they’ve attempted to overcharge for unnecessary work. I’ll be taking my business to Tillett’s from now on.

I moved to CA back in 2010, and had to find new «everything» when I came out here. When it comes to a mechanic shop I consider them to be like a Doctor for my vehicle because even though I can usually figure out what may be going on there is no way that I would be able to do the repairs myself. If there is one thing that you need to have when speaking to someone that is doing repairs on yourself, or your vehicle you need to have trust.
Out of all the mechanics that I have used since moving here K-​Tech has been the best. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and explain everything very well. I have the utmost faith in what they tell me in regard to what is going on with my vehicle. They don’t try to «up sell» you on things that aren’t needed for your vehicle like so many other shops strive to do. You don’t go in needing brake pads replaced, and then have them tell you that your entire engine from the radiator to the muffler needs to be replaced.
Integrity is HUGE when it comes to a business, and K-​Tech has more than most that I have found in my 23 years of owning a vehicle. Not to mention the owner Kate gives back to the community in many different ways. I had noticed that she even gives away a vehicle to a local family in need through her own charity event for the last couple of years! Now that is AWESOME!!! I will happily give my business to a company that gives back to the community in many different ways.
Way to go K-​Tech!!! Keep up the great work! :)

So I took my Jeep here for a freeze plug replacement. They were nice to me and got my freeze plug replaced quickly, it was pricey but quality work.
When I went to pick up my car they told me that I had a blown head gasket and my car was not drivable. And they got me, they really made me believe it was blown. So we sat down an they quoted me over $ 3000 to fix. This was intense to hear a price so high but I didn’t feel I had a choice. I even expressed to them that I was low on $ and they wanted to set up payment plans and everything. They took it very far. After thinking about it and just using my girlfriends car to get to work I decided I would take the risk and go drive my car away from K-​tech. My car drove perfectly. It is now a over a year and 20,000 miles later (the owner Kate told me I would be lucky if my car lasted a week before the engine blowing).
I want everyone to know this because I was as close as it gets to agreeing to pay over $ 3000 for a problem that did not exist. And I don’t want this happening to others. Please be careful with his shop (any shop for that matter). I also really don’t like to write bad reviews, but they almost literally took thousands of dollars from me for fixing something that wasn’t broken or even damaged. I am sooooo lucky I got my car out of there!

Called k-​tech asked for the shop rate he told me that it is better not to go with shop
my understanding we need to know the shop rate as cutomers it is fair to know. so i ask for a quote for a Saturn Vue standerd V6. i said to him how much for Valve adjustment he said let me look it up he came back with over price adjustment $ 600
which means his shop rate is way over 100.00 a hour this is not fair and thay say shop local.
