Robert Oliver DDS

Dr. Oliver is priceless. I would not take my child to anyone else. Dr. Oliver is conservative and respectful of parents choices, opinions, and views, however putting the childs’ well being first. He is clear with describing his recommendations and why and the priorities. He always explains what he sees and is happy to show me. Even if my son doesn’t like to have his teeth touched Dr. Oliver is great at being quick and efficient with him.

We visited their Windsor location just last week and I left knowing I made the best choice for my two kids. We saw Dr. Shailee and she was so kind and patient, and didn’t push anything that my daughter even slightly hesitated with. The entire office is fun and playful, with a positive experience in mind. From the playroom in the waiting area all the way to a horse saddle that kids sit in to take xrays. How cute is that?! The Windsor office is just behind the Safeway parking lot. Very convenient location.

We switched from a different dentist to Dr. Oliver, and I’m so glad we did! He was the first doctor to see my younger son, and the first time he saw my younger son (around 14 months), my son wouldn’t let Dr. Oliver anywhere near his teeth. Dr. Oliver was fine with that, and when we went back recently (6 months later), my son was slightly more amenable, and Dr. Oliver was quick and efficient. My older son loves him as well. I’ve been trying to make it so any appointments we make are within a few miles of where we live, but I’m gladly driving from Rohnert Park to Windsor just to see Dr. Oliver!

I’m sure it must be difficult for a lot of dentists to deal with kids who have extensive tooth decay, poor behavior, or overbearing parents, so pediatric dentistry is overall a good idea. Dr Oliver’s office is indeed beautifully set up, complete with playhouse outside and child-​height freebie bins. The front-​desk ladies are sweet and helpful and the wait time is minimal. However, Dr Oliver himself gave no indication whatsoever that he even likes children. He was condescending to the point of being rude, speaking so fast that I could hardly understand much of what he was saying. I am not a difficult parent, and have well-​mannered children, and expected to be able to have some input into how their treatment would proceed. But, no, the philosophy of this office is to drug and gas your kids with ‘sleepy juice’ and ‘magic gas’ and do all the work at once, while your job as a parent is to keep your mouth shut and stay out of the way. I have no doubt that Dr Oliver is clinically competent, but I found the whole experience to be extremely disempowering. I have since chosen a holistic family dentist who is willing to listen to my concerns and treat me and my children with respect.

If I could give them 10 stars, I would!
I took my 3 ½ year old for his first dentist appointment yesterday. He saw Dr. Oliver.
From the moment my son walked in, they were completely focused on making my son comfortable and happy with his first dentist experience. They were amazing! Not only did they make him comfortable, they made him comfortable enough that they did a full cleaning and were able to scrape off some excess tartar that he had from antibiotics. My son said it didn’t hurt, and didn’t seem to be phased at all with the extra scraping. Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!

I’m not sure who referred us to this office, but I’m so glad we listened. My son saw Dr. Shailee for his first-​ever dentist appointment, and she could not have been more lovely, as was the staff. It’s off the path, but not impossible to find, and well worth it, since it’s absolutely charming. And… AND: I recently called them to ask about bringing by the oral health assessment needed for kindergarten, and the receptionist said I needn’t make the trip– they had the form, and would fill it & mail it to me. Two days later it arrived… with a sweet note & school-​themed stickers attached. This place is a little magical enchanted cabin of pediatric dentistry.

I’m pretty picky about who my kids see as a dentist and Dr. Shailee Mashruwala at Dr. Oliver’s office is AMAZING. The whole staff is friendly and professional but their way of calming down the kids is quick, effective and really respectful. I always leave wishing they did grown up dental work too.
