Best quesadillas ever! Very authentic! Friendly staff! Family style. I would come back! Excellent food!

Ate my first burrito in 1961 — I get a grande here at least once a week. I know burritos — north, south, and east of here — the valley, SoCal, NorCal, chain store and local. This store produces a steady, solid 7.5 to 8.5 on a 10.0 scale. Good quality, excellent ingredients, friendly service. Recommended without reservation. In fact, I’m leaving to get one right now.

The business has gone very far downhill. The guy taking orders seems to mess up my order on purpose. Every time, I say pollo asado and end up getting white meat. Rice is also not very fresh as well as the beans, likely out of a can. They used to have much more friendly and welcoming workers. Not coming back again

Great food at a low price. Fast service from really nice people. Taqueria El Favorito is authentic, and consistently good and fresh. The portions are generous too at this casual restaurant. To go is easy peasy. My tummy has never suffered after a meal, and its obvious they care because they keep the place darn clean.

I love this place, lots of great Mexican food, very good portions and friendly staff. Now the ambience is very basic but it’s a great value. We will be back.

It’s a friendly neighborhood taco joint. Nothing fancy, but neither are the prices. I had two tacos — one carne asada and one grilled pollo. The pollo is juicy and tender and flavorful, as is the carne asada. They are loaded with meat and cilantro and onion. This is a perfect afternoon snack without being weighed down, and under $ 5! That’s a winner in my book.

Quite possibly the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I have no clue why this place has a 4 star average(as of this review). Others have commented on the salsa«bar». Well two or three salsas does NOT a salsa bar make. Especially since one is a pico de gallo. The one salsa that I did have was ok in flavor, but that was the highlight of the meal. The chips are not in house made, any respectable Mexican restaurant makes their own chips. You could eat these type of chips at any movie theater. This makes me think that the salsa is probably also store bought. I ordered the carnitas plate. The carnitas were dry and flavorless. I had to smother it in salsa for flavor and moisture. The rice was flavorless and surprisingly greasy. My friend ordered the wet burrito with al pastor. His burrito was also very bland, which is pretty impressive because al pastor is supposed to be very well seasoned. My wife ordered tacos, but with carnitas, so she had the same comments about it as I did. My wife also mentioned that the sink in the women’s bathroom was broken and difficult to turn on, and the soap dispenser was also broken. She ended up washing her hands in the men’s room. I was puzzled as to why this place was so busy. There are other Mexican restaurants(we drove by some while leaving Sebastopol) and I’m sure they have to be better, so do yourself a favor and go there.

Oh man, I have always liked the location in Santa Rosa and have never had a problem in the past, but our burritos from Sebastopol last night did not sit well this morning! Someone isn’t cleaning this location very well, or their meat is a lot funkier than we feared — I got sick and I grew up in Mexico! Yuck.

Solid Burrito joint with at least 15 locations in the greater bay area. I have heard that the original restaurant in the Mission(SF) is where the first burrito was made… google it ! This location is Sebastopol Ca is easy to miss as it sits a 100 or so feet off main st in a lot along with a mechanic shop and a dry cleaners. The space is huge here… I’m thinking it can seat at least a 100 people. There’s a pool table as well in the back seating area. The food here is consistent and good. I like how they are traditional with avacados and use slices instead of guacamole … All their meats are spiced well and rarely will you find any grisly(is that how you spell grisly?!) pieces in it ! The tortillas have a fresh hoemade flavor as well. I recommend the super suiza as well .it’s like a huge quesadilla but loaded with meat, sour cream, cheese, slices of avacado. Very filling so a super could satisfy two if you’re eating«somewhat» light. Every location also has a salsa bar with that bomb green avacado chile salsa, this is a must to grab… also the pickled jalapenos, carrots and onions. Check one of them out !

Left my review in a tip in error. Horchata is the best I’ve ever had, not too sweet. The quesadilla is huge and tasty, and I enjoyed every bite the enchiladas con pollo. love this authentic restaurant!!!

I’ve been here several times. I always get the tacos and they are delicious. Although they are a bit more expensive($ 2.25) than other places($ 1.50) the tacos are larger and include significantly more meat. Three tacos and some chips and I’m full. Although it looks like a dump, the food is great, and they have never screwed up my order.

The reason I give this place a three star is mainly because the visual appearance is ZERO. The only reason I went here was because a local highly reccomended it. It looks super getto. They really need to update the street sign and do a complete remodel. I ordered a beer, with a common price at any restaurant. one soft taco and a shredded chicken quesadilla. I do believe it was the best taco ive ever eaten. I dont know how everyone else enjoys their quesadillas but I would reccomend ordering half the cheese if you would like to have a steady, normal digestion process and the salsa on the side. The salsa made it soggy and half of it dripped out as I tried to eat it. I will be going back again. Their service is prompt and Im excited to try a new dish from them!

Do you want authentic home style Mexican fare? This is the place! Tremendous variety, unique entrées, like lingua, fresh vegetables, and Killer Carnitas! In Sebastopol walk in but for drive-thru go to Santa Rosa. Late night hours when the appetite needs a feast or a snack. My go to favorite place.

I’m a regular customer here. It’s real Mexican food and there’s an excellent salsa bar. My only complaint is that the prices and portion sizes are subject to change depending on who’s working. For instance, the first time I ordered a burrito it was absolutely massive– the size of a small baby! The second time it was kind of skimpy. Last time I ordered a vegetarian chimichanga and it was everything a chimichanga should be: fresh, crispy, and delicious. Others seem to be dissatisfied with the ambiance but seating is comfortable and there’s lots of it. The place is usually empty which is odd because in my opinion it’s much better than its main competitor, El Coronel.

I’m a regular here. Like other refugees from SF, I also was looking for a mission-type burrito place and after trying the other 5 Mexican food restaurants around town, this is the winner. Nice selection of meats, including el pastor which I like. They do well with my customized order which usually leaves out the rice and adds jalepenos. I love the salsas in their salsa bar, always fresh and usually pack a good amount of heat. They package one each of the green and red with to-go orders. I also like the quesadilla suiza(basically a meat and cheese quesadilla) with carne asada. Very friendly staff makes it a pleasure to stop by. Great place for grabbing a lunch to take on a picnic or to the beach!

SInce moving to the North Bay, one of my most-missed culinary obsessions is the Mission-style burrito. These gut bombs were a mainstay of a fast, cheap and delicious meal while working on an emergency ambulance. It was a matter of skill and pride to be able to eat one of these gastronomical delights while traveling to a call, and not spill a single bean or drip of salsa out of the foil wrapper. And here they are, transplanted to the north at Taqueria El Favorito. The furnishings are humble, the service is fast, and the food is outstanding — all the trappings of the taquerias that line Mission and Valencia street in the City. All that were missing were the pickled radishes; what they had was just a bit too hot to taste the onion and peppers. The wet burrito was awesome — big and tasty, with a lightly seasoned mole that was perfect.

Even though this location is significantly cleaner then the one in Santa Rosa and the menu is the same the execution and taste of the dishes in SR far out pace the Sebastopol location. I have been here 3 times but from now on I will drive the extra 10 minutes. Too bad.

Tacqueria El Favorito is a local favorite. it draws locals&tourists alike… but mostly locals. It’s the sort of place that Guy Fieri would tout. They have an open kitchen so you can see where culinary magic is made. It’s like water for chocolate(the mural in the front dining room is a tribute to the Diego Rivera that’s on the cover of the Laura Esquivel magical realist novel) They have a great salsa bar with pickled onions, pickled jalapeños, salsa fresca, and a delicious green salsa that seems to be a tribute to guacamole. It’s neon green&it’s amazing. They should seriously consider bottling&selling it. They have great tortilla chips, and their fresh tortillas are VERY hot. The service is personable and friendly. The chile rellenos are filled with cheese, garnished with avocados. Their rice&beans are wonderful. It looks like a dive with its sticker&gumball machines in front… but the food is marvelous! The portions are huge and filling. Worth the drive.
