I love it here! When I’m in the area, I come here to food shop. The prices are so much cheaper that you kinda look forward to food shopping, in a really weird way. It’s not so bad. They have everything you can imagine. The meats are fresh and good. The produce is better than I’ve ever had. Actually– my boyfriend lives down the street from a produce store and we got strawberries there that were okay and then I got them from price rite and they were 1000x better! I’ve never noticed this place being too overly crowded too which is even better too. The only thing to remember: bags are either 10⁄20 cents, so bring your own or be prepared. definitely a great place.

Hands down, this is my favorite supermarket, so much so that it’s worthy of a trek in the opposite direction of my home in Havertown. I do the bulk of my food shopping at Price Rite and buy only what I can’t find(name-brand catfood, Carnation Instant Breakfast, etc.) at a *real* supermarket. In all the years I’ve shopped at Price Rite, I’ve never had problems with their merchandise. Everything is fresh and tasty. The store is always clean and well-organized. Yeah, you have to bag your own stuff, but hey, that’s not a biggie. If you forget your bags, you can either buy some from the cashier or troll the store in search of empty boxes. They carry a surprising amount of name brands, especially name-brand breakfast cereal. As I previously mentioned, some items are absent. But those are very few, and it’s no big deal for me to get them at Giant or Super Fresh on the way home. If I had to name a flaw this store has, it’s that sometimes they run out of staples.(bread, certain cereals and frozen items, etc.) Again, not a huge problem, as the good here far outweighs the bad. They have a loyal shopper right here!

Bottom line is that no matter what, I’m generally going to Giant more often than this place. Reason being is that of the products I generally buy most often, Giant will always have a better selection than Price Rite. And they’re most likely to have the lowfat options at Giant. Case in point… come to Price Rite, and try to find things like lowfat cream cheese or nonfat sour cream. Maybe they have it now and I haven’t noticed. But I generally can’t find such items as often here. They tend to carry mostly the higher fat regular brands of such types of items more often than not. This all being said, there are advantages to this store. They do have a very good produce store. Certain items here are cheaper than the bigger supermarkets. There will always be good reasons to come to Price Rite. But I can never get all of my shopping done there. If I go there, they’ll not have something and I’ll have to go to Giant anyway. However, I’d come here over Acme every day of the week, and twice on Sunday if I could.

This is a bargain supermarket similar to Save-a-lot and Aldi. Bring your own bags or help yourself to empty boxes throughout the store since you have to bag your own stuff. It carries the store brand of Shop Rite and some brands like Goya. At times they may carry a brand like the real Cheerios, Crystal Light or Nutella but don’t rely on them being there the next time you go. This is usually my first stop on my food shopping day and get a lot of my basic from there: produce, pastas, rice, spices etc. Customer Service: Improving. Sometimes I feel like they ship the reject cashiers here for punishment. But they are getting better at saying hello at least. Until their renovation I never saw management and when they came out of that secret office they were pissed! Now I at least see them walking the front end Lines: Goodness I go down one aisle, it’s clear and then when I’m ready to check out the line are reaching back to the aisles. This happens every place I shop but other places will call back up cashiers. Here you just wait. Parking: That lot is a mess and no one can park properly. Granted I have a fear of parking lots and feel that no one can drive but me but seriously the dimensions of this lot is off. People driving too fast, parking crooked or a random child wandering as you back out. I just give up and park on the far end of the lot. You just have to walk a far way from the door and I end of hitching my empty cart to the curb at the end of the lot since the cart tents are scarce.

I found this grocery store by accident — it was in the same shopping center as Boaz Laundry, my new laundromat(see my review). I wandered inside one day while my clothes were drying a few stores down and became an avid shopper! Price Rite is one of those grocery stores that doesn’t always carry the brand name of something in order to get you a better price. I’m not huge on paying for a name, so I think it’s great — especially the part about saving some cash! Usually when you find a store like this, their selection is iffy when it comes to fruits and veggies. This is where Price Rite shines — their produce department. Their selection is vast and their produce is fresh. It’s the first section that you walk into when you enter the store and the colors just pop out at you. Granted, it’s no Whole Foods, but I have tried a lot of new veggies thanks to Price Rite. Just today I made out like a bandit — I bought yucca, broccoli rabe, cauliflower, blueberries, mango, plums, onion, tomatoes, zucchini, sweet corn, and a whole pineapple! Something that can be taken as a pro or a con — their rotating special sale items. Each week they have a new item(they rotate brands of yogurt, ice cream, sale priced cereals) that they lower the price on dramatically. It’s great because you can stock up while you’re there, but next week they will have something different in its place and last week’s item is nowhere to be found. I don’t really mind so much… I love variety and trying new things. Price Rite also makes you buy plastic bags(10 cents each) — that can also be seen as a plus or a minus. At first, I was buying every time I went. Then I realized that each dime adds up and just started reusing the bags(they are pretty damn sturdy). After a couple weeks, I started using totes and non-plastic grocery bags so that I could recycle the plastic bags altogther. All in all, I’m a fan of Price Rite. Great selection, great produce, great deals — the price is definitely«rite» !!
