Bob’s Discount Furniture

Worst experience ever and it’s not over yet. They told us they would call us to schedule the delivery on Monday and by Friday they did not call. We called and picked our delivery date but they did not ask when or give us a time frame, they said they would call us the prior to the delivery with a time window. It was two days before the delivery they did NOT call with a time frame so we called and they told us it would be delivered between 7:30 — 9:30 am. We knew we would not be available then so we asked to reschedule the time, apparently our request was denied. The we worked out our schedule just so we could get the couch. Then, when the couch arrived we could not fit one piece of it up the stairs so we needed to re order the other option. We called while the delivery people were there and the customer care people said we had to call our store directly to reorder. This ended up being the worst part of our experience. We called the store and they asked us who our sales rep was, when we told them they said he was on vacation and would transfer us to another rep. We got transferred about 7 times and each person was unaware of our situation and said we needed to be connected to other people. Eventually we connected with someone who seemed like they could help but said they would call us back. With our luck, we missed the call and had to call back. We called back and the same thing happened again, we were transferred like 10 times and then finally got a hold of someone and he said he would call back in 5 minutes. I waited two hours and no one called back. I called again and the same thing happened again (I was transferred about 10 times AGAIN) and then the sales rep hung up on me! I called back again and got the run around for about the 10^th time. And they asked me to call back in 20 minutes. We called back again and we immediately asked them to not transfer us. Finally after calling over 10 times and probably spending a total of 2 hours calling them, we were able to order the couch part we needed. Overall horrible experience and I will NEVER buy furniture from them again.

Furniture is junk! Lasts only a couple years before you start to have problems. Spend a little extra and buy quality elsewhere that will last

We stopped by this Bobs Furniture and wanted to purchse another item for our home and noticed that this particular location had an Outlet. As we walked in we were welcomed and asked for assistance and the customer service was EXCELLENT! As we entered «The Clearance section» we were blown away by the prices and had to buy from here. When we ask employees of Bobs Furniture we noticed how the whole experience changed and as I asked for assistance I mentioned how the change in Customer service had changed and how my husband and I felt like «chopped liver» that is when a gentleman by the name of Felix said yes we are and corrected himself and said I’m sorry while two other gentlemen laughed at his comment. He then got a young lady to assist us with our purchase. I felt beyond embarrassed to be shopping in that section after this event.

do not buy bob“s furniture! all their products are defective! plus they do not honor the warranty you buy!

DO NOT order the Goof Proof protection — they will not honor it no matter what your issue is.
The bonded leather is horrible and starts to crack and peel in under a year with normal, not heavy, use.
There is a reason their prices are low — the quality is very low.

This is only a 2 star review because of the quality of the furniture ad the men who deliver it and put the furniture together. However, my experience with bobs over the last 3 weeks has been nothing short of a nightmare.
Here’s my story:
1. Go in to store on ²⁄₁₈ to pick out living room set, and a dining room set to be deliver ³⁄₁₇
2. Go back into store on ³⁄₈ to order an additional bedroom set. They tell me 1 dresser from the set it back ordered to ³⁄₂₅. No problem.
3. The week of ³⁄₁₇ (Tuesday the 15 to be exact) I get a call that NONE OF MY FURNITURE IS SCHEDULED TO COME. somehow it’s all scheduled to come ³⁄₂₅ with my back ordered dresser. Which would leave me with no furniture for 10 days in my new home. I fight, I cry, I go into the damn place to get it sorted it out. It gets delivered, minus the dresser as promised.
4. 3/​18, I decide I have enough room for the 2^nd nightstand. I got into bobs again to order it. They tell me my dresser that is back ordered to 3/​25, is now back ordered to «April 2^nd earliest» their reason? «Too many people ordered and not enough furniture to keep up with the demand… at our CT warehouse» Ok so…1. Was anyone going to. All me and tell me??? 2. I don’t care that your supply people suck, not my problem!!! 3. You DO NOT promise people deliver dates, have them take off work, change schedules, etc. And nor be able to deliver that date 4. If it’s available from other warehouses… GO GET IT!!! Your customers are paying thousands of dollars for their furniture!!!
5. They call me during the week, ³⁄₂₂ to tell me my «dresser is ready to be picked up» picked up? I’m a female, live on a second floor apartment, and drive a Honda civic… I CERTAINLY did not order anything to be picked up. Frustrated, pissed off, and giving up with this company, I did nothing and let it happen and hoped for the best.
6. SO HERE WE ARE the morning of ³⁄₂₅ when the new nightstand and dresser should be delivered. I’ll let you guess what happened. Yup, you got it. The night stand is here. The dresser is not. I AM LIVID WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I will now have to return to bobs to complain AGAIN.
My advice for ordering from this company: order everything at once, do not add on or change anything, be prepared for a headache, and be prepared for nasty sales desk workers who give shitty excuses. The salesmen, delivery men, and phone service are outstanding. Very helpful, very nice.

Be careful, received damaged furniture twice and that includes the replacement. Customer service is the worst ever, after missing three days from work due to their negligent delivery guys damaging the furniture, they will not work with me on the delivery date. They said it must be done at their convenience not mine, of course after they have my money in hand why should they be concerned. BE CAREFULL! a lesson to be learned.

The ottomans for my table were covered in what seems to be a thin layer of something like plastic. It has flaked off and is all over my carpet. I’m concerned that my child or cat will try to eat it. I sent pictures to their customer service and they said it isn’t a design flaw and it is my fault. I find it hard to believe that I am the only person with this is and it was made poorly. I get the feeling they make a shoddy product and then don’t stand behind it. Never getting anything from there again and I recommend you don’t.

i can’t believe how this company is still in business. service no service; their products are put together with low grade materials and inferior parts. It’s time that we the consumer wake up.
DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!!!

I purchased a three peace leather sofa with the two end sides as a recliner. I also purchased five years extended guarantee. I gave the couch less than a year and a half.
The brown leather started to peal. After several phone calls and pictures sent to bob’s furniture they send a message apologizing that this was not under warranty. This company is not to be trusted .
Quality of merchandise lousy. If you have to by from them, have everything in writing. It was a big mistake buying anything from them again.

I can’t give a cero star this is the only reason I’m giving one. Bought a dinner table with 6 chairs here. They sold me an insurance and they say it covers everything any damage. No matter what happens. In my case was just a factory problem and when I call them they say I need to contact the insurance and the insurance says they don’t cover for factory issues. So now I feel like a tennis ball back and forward. If you need some furniture for your house buy it wherever you want but don’t give more money to the insurance company this is the real scam.

I really wanted to take the time and thank one of the best sales persons I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting his nickname is Jay, I remember that because it’s also my nickname. I wasn’t able to find his card that has his full name but you best believe I’m going to go back and get his full name. Unlike many others that work there JAY is the man.
If you need decent help he is definitely your guy. I’ll update this post with his name as soon as I get it.

My wife and I came here to look for a decently priced bedroom set and we settled on the Richmond 8-​piece sleigh bedroom set — which we enjoy. We also ended up purchasing the Majestic 6-​piece dining set.
Our delivery was seamless and we didn’t have any problems — at all. However, I was a little annoyed that one of the delivery men took our furniture out of the boxes — outside of our house then brought it in, like I really wanted my neighbors to see my damn furniture. I believe they did this to avoid making a mess in my house so I let that slide. In addition, I like to carry a conversation with the delivery team because although they represent the company or third party, they will be in my home, assembling my furniture and using my bathroom and maybe drinking water — when I offer; having someone who doesn’t speak English at all is nerve-​wrecking. The language barrier is lost and translation doesn’t exist — THANK GOD FOR GOOGLE TRANSLATE.
When I first saw both sets in the store, I was hooked. After it was delivered, I didn’t like it. I didn’t like how it blended with our house but then I had to take a few things into consideration: It’s our first home and we haven’t begun painting it as of yet so this magnificent dining room set is sitting in the middle of a plain room. Our bedroom set is also in a plain room. The house doesn’t exude our personality as of yet. It’s a blank canvas and when you have furniture in rooms to whereas the paint, moldings and finishes doesn’t match, you can become a little disappointed. I’m almost certain my feelings will change once things start to come together.
Otherwise, we picked out some BEAUTIFUL pieces and both sets came up to $ 4,000. NOT BAD AT ALL!

Ordered a lamp for my niece online over a month ago (online orders go to this store only apparently). I was supposed to receive a phone call when the order was going to arrive at the store, which never happend. I got a call about 10 days after i placed my order and rep was telling me that since i never came to pick up my order, they sent the lamp back. I told them that they never called me and they could not give me a answer. So, i asked them to get the lamp back and AGAIN same thing happend. Now its over 5 weeks later and I still don’t have my lamp. Never again.
PS: I asked to speak to the manager and he/​she choose to not to speak to me.

I’m not sure how to rate this because I didn’t buy anything. I saw some things I would like, but was mostly browsing. I have to say, the sales tactics were quite a turn off. On one hand, yes it’s nice to be able to find a store associate because there are plenty of stores where you may struggle to find anyone to help you. Not here. In fact, they will stalk you throughout the store. I made the mistake of showing interest in a couch, but we repeatedly told the saleswoman we were browsing, which we were. I could go for a new couch in the foreseeable future, but we had no intent to buy. After that she was always about 2 pieces of furniture away from us, no matter what furniture section we moved into.
I believe their policy is that they don’t remove old furniture which I thought was pretty standard for furniture companies (either included or for an extra fee). They don’t do it at all. So if we wanted the couch, we’d have to arrange for our own disposal, which would be me researching what companies do that, then comparing pricing, then seeing if we can leave it on curb or if someone can come into our apartment and move it… I would rather pay the fee to the furniture company then do a bunch of additional research and moving myself.
So would I buy from Bob’s? I’d consider it but some of the other reviews make me hesitant. I personally don’t like high pressure sales people. I don’t like someone hovering over me and eavesdropping on my conversations. I assume they are paid on commission and are so pushy because their salary depends on it, but that doesn’t make me comfortable.
Still they had a leather couch with cupholders and a middle part that folded down, had small lights, and a place to plug to an outlet or USB port. Do I need those features on a couch? Hell yes. I don’t need a couch I can just sit on. But I definitely want to shop around before getting a new couch and the experience didn’t make me want to rush back.

I purchased this three seat leather electronic reclining couch from Bob’s discount furniture in Secaucus New Jersey just a little bit over two years ago.
It has started to shred on the right seat of the couch. I do not have any children nor I do have any pets that will contribute to this shredding of the couch.
I am very very disappointed and very dissatisfied as a customer. There is no reason why a couch like this to start to shredin just over two years.

One of the worst experiences I had in my life with customer service. My boyfriend and I were looking to buy furniture for our bedroom and decided to go in. Our buying experience was fine and guaranteed us that we would be handled well.
Mind you, we asked for our furniture to be delivered a month after we purchased the furniture. We purchased in mid January and wanted our furniture to be delivered on the last weekend of February (since we are busy).
Two days prior to our delivery, they called us to inform of our «4 hour window». Saturday we waited for 6 hours for our furniture but as soon as we came in, we were just glad they came. We were going over the invoice and we see there is no bed frame. Without the bed frame, we wouldn’t have a mattress.
We called customer service who told us that it was back ordered and wouldn’t arrive til March 14^th. Are you kidding me?! This was unacceptable. They couldn’t do much for us so we said to put us on delivery for the 14^th.
We called our sales rep, Judith, and she told us numerous stories to why our bed frame couldn’t be delivered, but the whole point was that they did not notify us prior to the delivery or even hours before the delivery came! Now we have no bed and Judith told us to sleep on the foundation on top of the mattress. Are you serious?! I got more frustrated when they kept giving me ridiculous reasoning and NO SOLUTION. The manager, Mario, called us to see if we can get set up with a temporary bed but for the NEXT WEEK. They obviously don’t know how to distinguish problems and SETTING A SOLUTION. I am aware how a business works but make a solution for your customers instead of saying you agree with what we are saying. To top it all off, due to our inconvenience that my boyfriend and I have NO BED TO SLEEP IN FOR THE NEXT THREE WEEKS is to take off half a delivery charge, which isn’t even close to 5% of what we paid. So this is apparently how they do business; no reasonable solutions to their problems. You can be GUARANTEED that I will not be setting foot back into this place; there will be no referral; and possibly a complaint elsewhere. Disappointed, and disgusted with the customer service.

I will give Bobs an overall three stars. People give this place bad reviews because they expect the best furniture for half the price. If that’s how you feel might as well save the trouble and order from Amazon.
Some of the furniture here is not the best but you can find a few decent items here and there. I will be honest, I always check the pit since sometimes you will find furniture in there for half the price and it will absolutely have nothing wrong with it.
If you ask the workers many of the items are returns and sometimes it’s due to people just not liking the furniture; doesn’t mean anything is wrong with it. But most of the times it is because it has flaws so be careful to inspect the furniture.
The customer service is ok here some people are nicer than others. Talk to my bro Omar in the pit he was a nice guy and patient with me and my parents. Anyway I needed to get a dresser and I found one for half the price and without a scratch on it. So I’m satisfied as a customer. Btw they also have a decent snack bar for all customers, so thanks for the ice cream and coffee.

Yikes. Stay far, far away. Discount furniture also mean poor quality furniture and terrible customer service. If I could go back in time, I would go somewhere and pay a little more, and not have dealt with the YEAR+ of craziness and stress.
I had previously purchased several items from Bob’s. I can’t say I was totally happy with the quality, but didn’t have too much of an issue. After all, it is «discount’ furniture.
Let’s go back in time to March 2013. A little background– it’s 3 weeks until my wedding, feeling stressed. I happen to get Bell’s palsy (half my face was paralyzed, no bride wants to be paralyzd on the most important day of her life!). Needless to say, I was having a rough time. My husband and I go to Bob’s to buy a new bedroom set as a wedding gift to ourselves. We were excited, we splurged. Overall buying experience was pretty painless and I felt good about it.
I take off work to be home when the furniture was delivered. I was happy they put the bed together. I had asked them to move the old bed to a different room of the house. They charged me I think $ 100 cash to do so. Felt sketchy, like I was scammed but whatever I couldnt move it myself, my husband was out of town, and I wanted it done! The deliveries are all done by 3^rd party companies so who knows! Then, I look and there is a huge gash on one of the drawers of the nighstand. They guy explained to me that just happens sometimes but to fill our this form and they will report it and get me a new one. Okay, whatever, at least I have a nightstand. I now realize I should have just refused delivery of the item, or called immediately, but the man assured me customer service would call me in a few days and get me a new one.
In the meantime, I get married (yay!) and go on my honeymoon. This nighstand issue was not my main concern. A month or so later, I am thinking and realize they have never called me. I ask my husband to call. He calls, they have no record of this being delivered damaged. They will have to set up and appointment for technician to inspect and determine my husband and I didn’t cause it post delivery. Okay. They will call back and set up inspection. Annoying, but okay I guess.
Another month passes, no one has called to set up the appointment! This time, I call back. They have no record of item being received damaged and in addition have NO RECORD of my husband calling! WTF! By this time, I am getting annoyed. These people seem to lose everything. I set up the appointment. My husband has to take a day off work for this guy to come and inspect. The guy comes, determines yes it was delivered damaged. Fill out another form. Says will put in order for new drawer.
Another couple of months go by, have not received a drawer or heard anything. I call back, WHOOPS THE DRAWER HAD NEVER BEEN ORDERED! ugh. By this point in time, I am really getting annoyed. They put in the order for the drawer. Say it takes 142 days or something for drawer to come in because it has to ship from ASIA. Go figure!
Another few months go by, I figure I will check up on good ‘ol Bob’s and make sure they didn’t lose my order again. This time I speak to a man, and he’s a huge A$$hole to me. «WELL, IS THE DRAWER FUNCTIONAL!!!» He yells at me. Yes, sir, it is functional, but it has now been about 9 mos since I hould have received this and you all seem to lose everything, so I just wanted to be sure everything is still movnig forward. After all, I could have made a human being in less time than it takes to get a replacement drawer from Bob’s.
About 2 mos later, a very nice woman from Bob’s calls me and says she was checking on our order, and it looks like they ordered the WRONG DRAWER!!! She apologizes and says it will take another 142 days or whatever to order.
I mark my calendar this time for 142 days. Those days came and went and I still had no drawer. It had now been about a year and 2 mos since my initial order. I call once again, and get nothing, no answers. «It’s being ordered, will *hopefully* be there soon.» OH BOY!
In desperation, I post on Bob’s FB. I just want what I paid for! Eric gets back to me. Finally, someone who can help me! He shedules a new nighstand to be swapped out for the old one. Have to take another day off work to do so, but at this point, I’ll kill puppies to get the DARN NIGHSTAND FIXED!
Last week, the nightstand finally arrives. It is ungashed, but really wobbly and seems cheap… somehow different than the last one and my other nighstand on the other side of the bed.
I’ve given up, you win Bob. I’ll never shop with you again, or recommend you to anyone.
In the past year and a half you’ve taken from me:

— at least 10 phone calls to your customer service (approx 15 min on hold each time before geting through to a person, 5 hours total)
— a big piece of my sanity and faith in corporations to «do the right thing»
