Extra Space Storage

Extra Space Storage was a tremendous disappointment. I came to the site to reserve the space on a Saturday and told the representative I would return on Sunday, when the office would be closed, to bring my belongings to the unit. When I came that Sunday with a full van, the unit had another lock on it (it was supposed to be unlocked so I could place my own lock on it). I called the 24-​hour help line and a message was taken but I was told I would likely not receive a response until the following business day. This left me with a full van, scrambling to figure out where to bring my belongings so I could return the vehicle as planned. When my fiancé got in touch to rectify the matter the following day, he was first told it was their error… eventually the story was morphed into an accusation of me rushing out of the office the day I reserved the space. My fiancé challenged the representative by asserting that his story was conveniently changing and also asking how that would even matter. In the end, we cancelled the unit since we had to make alternate arrangements in a hurry anyhow. When he asked to have the price of the lock and the fees refunded, Extra Storage Space responded that it was «against their policy.» This is completely unacceptable. I don’t think having a unit locked upon arrival without anyone to contact is part of their policy so it’s not acceptable to suddenly insist on adhering to their policy when it comes to the payment. It’s simply bad business.

I was unsure of a place and Hilton explained everything to me in detail, took his time to show me the unit and provided beyond excellent customer service. This place is also convenient. Space is perfect. Property is secure. Elevators work. Hilton (customer service) was awesome!!!

I was looking for a place that’s close to the city and has drive in space for a car trailer. This place is exactly right, 15 minutes from midtown, clean and safe feeling. Hilton, the manager, is really nice and professional. Prices for storage units in the area are high but he surprised me with a special they had of one month free so that helped. Definitely recommend.

This facility is very clean, easily accessible from Route 3 and a good alternative to the higher prices for Hoboken or Edgewater units.
To help drive down the monthly fee, we signed a 1-​year agreement and provided proof of Renter’s Insurance (which means we don’t need/​have to pay for their standard insurance).
We’ve been customers for about 6 months and haven’t had a single issue.
