I am a big fan and my review would’ve been 5 stars except for two things… the fact that they serve their delicious food with powdered or freeze dried mashed potatoes(no way are they fresh, and why not?) and the young girl that took our money on 1÷7÷16 about 12 noon, was one of the unfriendliest, icky, little worms to work a cash register. And it’s a darn shame, because as soon as you walk in you’re greeted, the servers are for the most part, very friendly and as you leave, the kitchen staff shouts a good bye if they can. So why the huge disconnect? Why such an unfriendly toddler at the register? I had the pork tenderloin and my husband had a killer burger. My pork tenderloin was absolutely delicious and the bowl of ham and bean soup was not only yummy, it was not excessively salty as many bean soups are. The only bummer was the pointless Texas toast and the obviously NOT homemade mashed potatoes. I just don’t understand that… potatoes are so cheap and it’s so easy to make them wickedly good, why ruin your killer tenderloin with yucky, imitation potatoes? If you have room when you’re done eating, try and eat a piece of pie… I strongly recommend the coconut custard if you like that kind. All handmade by one of the servers that work there and the fillings are incredibly good… but that crust, oh that crust!!! :-)

Really cool place with a great atmosphere. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal in here either. I wouldn’t really classify this as a BBQ joint though. As a self proclaimed BBQ snob, I don’t go here for their BBQ. It’s no where near the worst BBQ in town, but there are better options if good Q is what you’re really after. Everything else I’ve had here is pretty on point though!

Had a prime rib sandwich — which was cooked to order and it was delicious!!! Fried Green Tomatoes and Sweet Potato Fries were also good. The BBQ is never a disappointment either. My favorite place to eat in Sedalia. Also love sitting in the train car to dine — fun atmosphere.

Super kitschy, the most unique dining experience in Sedalia. The seating is in an old fashioned railroad car. The space was really small, so don’t bring a group bigger than four. The chicken and beef prices have gone up recently, but the food is delicious. I ordered the Miss Piggy sandwich and the pork tenderloin was twice as big as the bun and the meat was grilled perfectly; it had great flavor. I also ordered a side of cole slaw which was cooked in a very sweet vinegar, but there was too much sauce, almost swimming in it. My sister ordered the Cattle Car, and the burger was cooked very well, with a combination of barbecue sauce and a special house sauce which was delicious. The prices were super affordable and the wait staff was really nice.

Best barbecue we have had outside of Kansas City! Pretty heavy on the sauce, but it was very good, more sweet than savory. We had the society platters which came with burnt ends and pieces of other meat very good and two sides. The curly fries were some of the best we’ve ever had. The beans were very sweet. We saved room for dessert and had the chocolate meringue pie and the Apple crumble à la mode. Definitely homemade! Crust was amazing. We will definitely go back!

Kehde’s is a long time family favorite. We love the tenderloin sandwich or the Society with burnt ends, and pieces of pork and chicken and homemade BBQ sauce. The fresh cut curly fries, while greasy, are a Kehde’s tradition not to be skipped.

Best place to go in Sedalia for BBQ. I love their Burnt End sandwiches and wish I had the recipe of their portobello mushrooms. We stop there every time we can when going to Sedalia.

My boyfriend and I went to Kehde’s tonight(3⁄9) for a quick dinner out. We decided on an appetizer, burgers and fries. We were loudly and cheerily greeted by the woman at the counter and told to seat ourselves. Our server took ten minutes to take our drink order(while waiting we noticed the floor was very dirty from an earlier service, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy at this time, our booth seat had a significant rip in it, picture frames on the wall were smudged and dingy) and when our appetizer of fried mushrooms came out the presentation was horrendous and the mushrooms had not been salted at all. Our burgers were okay, nothing spectacular and were definitely lacking salt and pepper. We both ordered curly fries which were brought out in ceramic boats of their own. They were soggy, grease-filled potato piles of yuck. When the waitress came to check on us, we had finished our meal and had not eaten our fries. We asked for the fries to be taken off of our check since they were inedible and she said okay and walked away. We weren’t offered an explanation, a substitution-nothing. When she dropped off our corrected check she mumbled something about the potatoes being«too sugary» and that being the cause of their sogginess. She mumbled she was sorry, we paid and left. Nobody thanked us for coming, thanked us for our business or suggested that we come back and we don’t plan to.

This was good food, but nothing to write home about. I had the Goober Burger, which is just an awful choice. The Burger without peanut butter and mayo would’ve been much better. The fries were good. I had an apple dumpling for dessert which was probably the best I’ve ever had. The railcar in which the dining room is located is pointlessly charmimg.

Locals love this place. Favorite place to take guest from out of town, favorite meal is the Alamo, fresh tenderloin, and sweet potato fries. Is better without the bun.

While I typically prefer KC-style and was excited to find myself this far west I must admit some disappointment. The pork was tender but the beef was dry and tasteless. The mashed potatoes were old and dry and the pepper gravy bland. I believe in not using sauce on my first visit to any BBQ joint and this was the first time in recent memory where I felt I had to simply in order to finish the meat. :(

Food was awful. Fries were soggy, chicken was dry, Texas toast was awkwardly soggy as well. The only reason I gave this 2 stars was because the waiters and waitresses were extremely nice and professional.

Loved the food. BBQ sauce was sweet, but good. Out of potato salad, so we had baked beans that were super. Slaw vinegar based Perfect with BBQ. Service was also great.

I’m one of those guys… I order a cheese burger plain and some fries. My review: I ordered: Double«Char-Burger» with cheese and an order of curly fries. The burger was good! A little seasoning would have put it over the top. The fries(when you ask for a half or full, you get a block or HUGE block of curly fries! The only suggestion I have is: «Season those boys like it is their last day!» Kehdes is a fun and«everyone knows everyone» atmosphere! If you are in Sedalia, I highly recommend this stop! John, Katen, Terri, and the rest of the crew hope you have an excellent stop!!! Please let them know if you’re not happy! They will fix it! The owners are there almost every night until close! Let’s say I have a complaint(never)… The person on duty will resolve it! Thank you for the great even if I come in at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, or 8pm… The service is always awesome!

Come hungry… Leave full with leftovers. This is a true restaurant. Family style. Loud. Don’t play on coming here to enjoy a write lunch or dinner. Be ready to pleasure your taste buds with some over the top flavor. I had to get some ribs… So delicious. Only wish they had a spicy sauce available. Wish I wasn’t leaving this area tomorrow or I’d come back. Thanks for a great meal.

The food is delicious at the restaurant! We had their catering for our wedding rehearsal dinner, and while the food was still awesome, the whole process was a nightmare. I felt like the person I was speaking with on the phone was not taking any notes, and the price quoted to us originally went from $ 10 or $ 12 a plate, all the way up to $ 16 a plate by the time we actually had the event. It was too late to cancel by that point, so we just had to go with it. They kept saying«the price of pork is rising». Really!!! At this increase, even if every person ate a whole pound of pork, I know it wasn’t rising at $ 4 a pound from what it started out at. I just pretty much got the feeling that they didn’t really want to do the catering, but instead of letting us know, they just jacked up the price hoping we would cancel. That’s fine, but at least tell us in time to make other plans!!! I love their restaurant, but I DONOTRECOMMENDTHEIRCATERING!

Delicious!!! The pork BBQ actually melts in your mouth! And the BBQ beans are the sweet kind! So yumm!!! Pairs great with their cole slaw! I def want to come back here as soon as possible! In fact, I’d order more if my stomach wasn’t so full! Deeeelish!

I ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich with curly fries. It was cold when delivered and the sandwich was soggy from the lettuce and the fries were dripping with grease and was in a lake at the bottom of the bowl they came in

The beans alone are a reason to stop at Kehdes ! There’s so much meat in their beans that I could just sit down with a pint for dinner and be fat, sassy, and full. But, if you’re not a BBQ bean fan, or maybe you just need more… try the«Society Posh», a huge baked potato loaded with burnt ends, cheese, green onions and sour cream. That will fix what ails ya! And you won’t have room for more… that is unless you subscribe to my hard fast rule, dessert is a must! And you must sample their homemade pies. I devoured a slice of baked peanut butter pie… yum! At 4:30 the railroad car opens, and what kid wouldn’t want to eat BBQ in a train? There are lots of reasons to stop at Kehdes for dinner, the BBQ, the train, the fabulous beans or pie… just stop!

The onion rings were top notch. The Society posh potato was massive and a little on the greasy side but delicious. The Carolina pork sandwich was tender and just right. The gooseberry pie was new to us. Wonderfully sweet and tart with gooseberries from the local Amish market we were told. The turtle pie was way too sweet though. The interior had lots of Katy(MKT) memorabilia which was really interesting. I would have stayed longer just to look around. The service was very friendly. This place is a winner!
