I was warmly greeted by the owner of the store, who asked if I was a crocheter or knitter. She then took me around and showed me their local hand dyed yarns and other varieties that would be great for crocheters like me. She was extremely pleasant, and the other ladies there knitting at a table greeted me also. We had a great conversation and the owner even gave me her card. Although this is a small store in a shopping center, I greatly enjoyed it. I did not purchase anything as I had already purchased what I wanted at another store, but there is a nice variety to choose from. They offer classes as well. If I am ever in the area again, I will stop by.

When I travel, I love checking out Local Yarn Shops to see what they carry. It’s not that I need more yarn — though a stash, by definition, cannot be too big — it’s that I hope to find yarns that I can’t get at the outstanding LYS I frequent(Yarns Unlimited in Bloomington, IN). Honestly, I rarely buy yarn when traveling, because too many LYS’s have the same yarns … Malabrigo, Berroco, etc. Sedona Knit Wits is small, but has a good focus on locally– and regionally-dyed yarns. Yes, they have the usual yarns, but most of the yarns nearest the entrance are small batch yarns I can’t find elsewhere. I left with two skeins of sock yarn, which I never do — but even my partner could see that these were unlike anything I have at home. As I left, I saw a whole other line of regional yarns I’d missed, and considered myself lucky to get out with only two new skeins to fit into my suitcase!
