I cannot say enough good things about Ace Hardware. The customer service is what puts them in a class by themselves. Anytime you walk in, someone is there to greet you and wants to help. They are well versed in figuring out what I mean when I reference items as «things» & «doo-​hickeys» with any accompanying attempt to make shapes or outline gestures with my hands. Not only do they take you to the item, but they talk with you to make sure that you have all the items you will need. They also can help explain how to get the job done. I prefer the personal service over going into a HUGE store and having to hunt someone down. Also, each are a franchise, if you like to support local businesses. My most recent visit was actually due to the HUGE store not having what I needed and pointed me to Ace.
