Great place with no major complaints. The public bathrooms can use a big face lift. It should not stink that bad but it sure does. The staff are nice and the rates are acceptable.

First, understand that Sekiu is a tiny village next to another small village(Clallam Bay). The only actual activity to do in these two villages is fishing. We don’t fish but apparently if you do, this is a great place to be. Actually, if you don’t fish but just want a relaxing time, this is also a great place to be, for a while at least. It’s a pretty short drive to Neah Bay(Cape Flattery), Forks, La Push, Lake Crescent and Sol Duc Falls. The actual hotel consists of a number of small apartments of various sizes. Ours had one bedroom with two queen size beds and one queen size bed in the living room. Kids could probably have slept in the two couches in a pinch. $ 140/night at the end of June felt quite reasonable to sleep two adults and three kids comfortably. The apartments(except one, apparently) are very close to the water. The view through the large windows and from the balcony was towards the east, overlooking the Juan de Fuca strait and we liked it a lot. And all the bald eagles in the harbor! The rooms were clean, the kitchen had the usual equipment, and the maid came by every morning. There is free, wireless Internet, which worked great on one of our computers and not at all on the other; not sure why. The office sells some basic stuff. Curley’s Resort across the street has cheap icecream and an espresso machine. The By the Bay Café a few steps down the street had decent food the one time we tried it. Olson’s resort a little further down has some more groceries including good beer. There is a post office! For anything else you drive a few minutes to Clallam Bay, which has a larger grocery store(or deli as it calls itself), a gas station, a latte stand, etc. We really enjoyed our two nights in Sekiu and will hopefully be back some day for some peaceful time(our T-Mobile phones had zero reception) and we may well stay at Van Riper’s again.
