Strathmore Bagels

Some of the worst management. The owner hovers around making staff and customers uncomfortable. The counter help is great. The egg sandwiches are iffy. Some days very good and other days eggs they are undercooked and sloppy. Salads have too much mayo. All in all there are many other places to pick from. Skip this one. If you have a late lunch you will be interrupting the counter girl who is sitting in a booth eating and on her phone.

The food is good and would give a higher rating but their customer service is poor. It gets way too crowded and they haven’t done anything to account for it. The counter space is just a mass of people like Ellis Island during a busy time. Most of the staff is very curt and short which is understandable as they are very busy. A few are just rude. The manager (owner?) just kind of hovers around and it seems like he annoys his staff more than actually helps them. I won’t be going back here as there are many other choices close by.

Not much to say about this place. Its your typical one stop bagel shop. Seems like it would be a very busy spot due to the location in the Independent plaza. Prime real estate if you ask me. Its all about Location Location Location.
However, a few flaws that I noticed.
I went during a real busy time. When I got there the line was all the way to the outside curb. And they would just keep taking customers orders. So people would stand around for a few minutes waiting for the food and start crowding up the fridges. It was sorta funny trying to watch someone go to the fridges to grab a Nesquick or something. It was like watching an adult fighting to get to a drink at the bar at the Roxbury… Insanity. Not to mention customers who receives their order would walk out, and i watched as they bump everyone’s arm that is sitting down trying to eat at the booths. The place is way to small for that vast amount of clients. I will give it to Strathmore bagels tho. They did seem to pump out the orders in a timely matter.
Customer service was fair. For as busy as they seemed, They somewhat kept it together. You could tell the counter staff was beat. Just entirely exhausted for the amount of orders accepting and trying to get completed.
My advice is to stop by on an Off peak time, and see if you can get that bagel crave taken care of without an issue

They have horrible management, horrible bagels. They never get the orders right. Do not go to this place and waste your money.

Beware!!! Horrible rude management. Bagels are terrible!!! First off The manager of this place is a scumbag. He is a grumpy older man who has no respect for his customers. He got very nasty with me because I didn’t have enough cash on me and just had to run and get my wallet out of the car. Then when I came back in he was rude and very nasty when I asked him for change of a twenty. He literally said I hope you choke on our bagels!!! As I was walking out. What manager says that to a customer. A dirt bag only. I actually almost did choke. They were nasty and gummy. Strathmore is usually ok but this location is the worst I ever been too by far. Bagels were terrible with no flavor. Even early in the morning they needed to be toasted or you couldn’t bite through them. I wasted almost 12 bucks on just 3 bagels with cream cheese. Almost 4 bucks each for just a bagel with cream cheese!! What a rip off and it was garbage. Garbage food with the worst management I ever experienced. Bottom of the bucket for sure. I left a piece of my mind there because someone like this needs to know how much of a dirt bag he is. This man shouldn’t be anywhere near food or associating with customers. If he isn’t the owner he should be fired by the way he talks to his customers. I came to find out through the grape vine he is like this all the time and seems to just hate people. Go to cellas bagels near by or any other bagel store in town. Poppyseed in Centereach is really good. This Strathmore don’t compare to the rest of the stores around. There are plenty of them around. Don’t spend your money here where the bagels are terrible, management is bad and its over priced. Stay out of this store and share this to everyone. This store doesn’t deserve anymore customers to even walk in there.

Fed up with this place, every single time I’ve gone they’ve messed up my order somehow and this time I got something that wasn’t even remotely close to what I ordered.

The service was terrible. very rude staff. The ice tea was a joke tasted like prune juice. Taking my business else where. Don’t come here.

The bagels here taste delicious and it’s my favorite bagel shop. The service is also great and they sell butter and cream cheese to if you don’t want to go into a big super market to get some for your bagels.

Not a ‘mayo-​heavy’ sandwich fan. We didn’t know that was the case until we got home and had to throw the sandwich out, as we did not have extra tuna to balace out the mayo. We will not be eating at this location again.

Bagles are ok, great spread selections Breakfast sandwiches come with coffee and home fries which is where I have a gripe! They used to be some what good.(home fries) As of late they have become absolutely inedible! Stratmore would be a grand slam if the recipe for the home fries was changed drastically ADD SOME FLAVOR!

Ever hear of the expression «dressing up an old lady»? You’ll find it here in the flesh. My friend and I ordered an egg bagel and a poppy seed bagel, both of which were far less dense than what a real bagel should be, a sure indication a proper boiler is nowhere in sight. Baked hard roll anyone?
But the cream cheese selection is quite good, cleverly disguising the forgery underneath a mountain of flavor (at least they can’t be accused of being cheap on the toppings). The garlic/​herb spread was excellent, as was the ever-​so-​rare vanilla/​raisin/​walnut (warning: it contains sugar).
Their tea selection is lame, so welcome to a Lipton world — quite pathetic in this modern age of choices.
Will I be back? No way. There are better options close by. But if you are 100% clueless about what a great bagel is, by all means stop by and indulge.

Friendly staff. Potatoes were soggy and flavorless. Bagels had way way way too much cream cheese. Absurdly too much cream cheese. They do have a wide variety of spreads if you want way too much of any flavor. Macaroni salad was sour, not the sweet that we expected, not a bad thing if you like it sour.

Food is good. Service can be slow. Make sure the staff remove their gloves after handling money before touching food.

I have had no bad experiences with the bagels here. They have a wide variety of flavored cream cheeses as well as various breakfast dishes on their menu. Friendly staff.

Fantastic bagels, good service. They are always busy, so the bagels are always fresh. They have so many cream cheese flavors, that I never know what to order, but my favorite has to be the one with raisins and walnuts… YUM! They have recently re-​done the place, and it really did need it. Now it’s bright and cheerful. While they were at it, they updated the menu. They now have chopped salads, and new sandwiches, and it no longer has to be on a bagel, which I like at lunchtime. The re-​do of the décor and the menu blew me away.

I love bagels. They are one of my top 10 favorite all time foods. I thought I knew what bagels should taste like. I was so wrong! I have been told that the water on long island is what makes the bagels so good and it must be true because the egg everything bagel I got here with strawberry cream cheese was out of this world. Even the strawberry cream cheese from here was the best I’ve ever had; it was light and fluffy. Next time, I am definitely going to try the chocolate chip cream cheese.
