The tri tip is very juicy, but I do wish that the bread was toasted or maybe with a sesame bun. But I’d go here again.

Don’t blink, or you might miss this tiny building on an off street in Selma, but then again, great Selma restaurants like to hide away(Sal’s, anybody?). Owned by a wonderfully helpful man with some help from his father, Grapewood Grill has no indoor meal seating(there are about 5 chairs if you choose to wait for your take out and not call ahead); it’s basically a stand-alone kitchen, with a few grills out back which, if I’m not mistaken, might be fueled by some torn-out grapevines. The menu is on the limited side, but not in a bad way. Focused on tri-tip, chicken, ribs, and sides, the owner focuses on making few items and making them well. Today, they also had a special on pulled pork, so there was a bit more variety there. We ended up ordering a tri-tip sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich, a hot link sandwich, and sides of cornbread, mac n cheese, baked beans, and potato salad, giving us a good hold on most of the menu. They made everything quickly except for the hot link sandwich, which is made to order(whereas the other meats are already grilling out back). We took our goodies home to try them. The best? The macaroni and cheese. My husband described it as «Southern,» I simply say it’s tasty, and definitely the best thing we got from them, enough to return for alone. My second preferred item was the cornbread, which wasn’t overly sweet, but the perfect in-between flavor, and I’m not normally a fan of cornbread. The other two sides were great as well, they’ve really got their side game down! As for the meats, I feel like I have to pick this apart a bit. I didn’t enjoy any sandwich as a sandwich. However, I really liked the cook and flavor on the tri-tip and hot link(not spicy). The pulled pork wasn’t my favorite, a bit mushy, but Tristan enjoyed it, and he’s more of a pulled pork person than I am. This leads me to believe it was probably the bread I didn’t enjoy as much. However, delicious meat from the grill, and that’s what they’re really banking on. Their BBQ sauce is on the runny side(rather than thick), and sweetish/vinegary. Unique, not my favorite, but still yummy. Overall, I’d be happy to come back, and remember to call ahead this time. I’m curious about the chicken and ribs as well. Not the perfect meal, but quite good and very filling!

Wow… best BBQ I’ve had in the state of California yet. It’s always hard to find legit bbq on the west coast, but the 2 guys running this place have it nailed. The ribs had a nice smokey flavor and were juicy/not dry. I don’t know what the rub was on the tri tip, but it had so much flavor. As for the mac n cheese. Just as has been mentioned in other reviews, it was phenomenal. Might be the best mac n cheese I’ve ever had. Don’t let the outside of this place scare you off. This was excellent.

Blink and you’ll miss seeing it, but you can’t miss the intoxicating smell of this hole-in-the-wall. To walk into this place is to walk straight into a restaurant kitchen. There’s nowhere to sit. Nowhere for a crowd or line to gather. But I just don’t care. It’s so amazingly awesome here. I have an inability to say no to barbecue. Good or bad. I’m style-agnostic. Texas, Santa Maria, KC, Memphis. I’ll eat it all. That said… This place is *exceptional* Texas-influenced BBQ. The owner is super-friendly and has roots — he’s been in the Valley for years. And it shows, because he smokes a mighty-fine tri-tip. And hot link. And really, anything else. The sauce is homemade and needs to be bottled so I can bring it home. The mac and cheese is a gooey, chewy, meaty scoop of heaven. Extra credit for the best restaurant buttermilk biscuit ever. Flaky but soft. Like a cloud of butter, salt, and shorten in’. He gave me two because I said I was a biscuit fiend and everyone usually gets the cornbread. Do yourself a favor. Skip the cornbread. The biscuits are amazing. I am literally coming right back here after work to order my girlfriend’s farewell dinner. That good. I can’t wait to come back.

I would say the best tri tip sandwich from a local restaurant. the tri tip is cut nice and thick, tastes fresh off the grill! Small hole in the wall, but definitely worth the drive to Selma!

A small shop that cooks all the different meats using different grills. The prices are good. If you are in the area I would recommend you give them a try. Note they don’t open on the weekends and don’t open late.

I saw this place on Unilocal and thought it looked good. I’m very glad I did. I had a tri tip sandwich, mac and cheese, and biscuits. The bread on the sandwich was pretty dry so I just ate the tri tip which was really good. The sauce that came with it was homemade and had a sweet kick to it! The biscuits were definitely homemade and nice and thick. Okay, the mac and cheese deserves its on paragraph. My mom and I got one large container and I wish we got more. It was one of the best, if not best mac and cheese I’ve had. It was thick and gooey and had some bacon flavor in it. Next time we will get two large containers because I just wanted to be greedy with it! Anyways, overall it was really good and will come back soon!

Mac n cheese was authentic! OMG! The best! Ribs were delicious, beware, they have a kick to them. I was not a fan of their baked beans or sauce(comes on the side so it was perfect). The sauce has a kick too! I like sweet BBQ sauce. The rib combo was enough food for two and under $ 10, can’t beat that! Cornbread was heavenly! I will go back again and again! The employees are super nice! Can’t beat them!

No pinto beans around here, nothing but TEXASBBQ. I’ve been totally missing out on this local place in my town, how dare of course. I decided to hit this place and I was amazed on the smell of good wood burning and REAL smokers cooking outside this small establishment. Pretty small place, it was only meant for picking up food and nothing else. No sitting down just straight pick up and nothing wrong about that. Two workers were very nice and easy going, all smiles and laughs. Customer service was on point, so the food matches the service and speaks for itself. I ordered a whole full chicken, two sides, two cornbread pieces and you won’t believe it was all priced for $ 14.50. That’s amazing, the food is enough for four-five people. Too me that’s a steal, and worth the price. Chicken was on point with the seasoning, and juiciness. Macaroni and Cheese was unbelievably delicious, never had it their way. Potato salad was great also, just the perfect amount of seasoning and veggies. The BBQ sauce was definitely homemade, was just in perfect harmony of balance of sweetness, salt and peppercorn taste that I love. The bread was a little dry, but edible. Overall I need to come back and try more meats, next on the list is the Tri-Tip. Was told its killer and I will find out for myself it they can bump the four star rating into a five. We will see, we will see. I rate this place 4.0 for service and food.

This place has some killer food. The smoky flavor presented in the ribs gave the meat a very deep flavor without being overwhelming. Also their BBQ sauce is sweet and tangy. When paired together it make for an exceptional meal.

Trip tip sandwich amazing. Tender and large in quantity. Meat spiced but the sweet sauce tempered with just a hint of what tastes like Worcestershire sauce and light molasses is great. Potato salad is red potatoes light mustard based sauce and paprika. Mac and cheese is true southern style. The food definitely is great but get there before lunch rush as supplies are limited. Assortment of drinks available for purchase-cans. Come on in!

Finally, an authentic BBQ shack in town! I ordered one of everything on the menu, which is refreshingly small, and absolutely loved all of it aside from the potato salad. The chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The ribs were so good that when I put sauce on then I actually didn’t like it, they taste perfect by themselves, and that’s from me, a sauce fanatic! The tri-tip was cooked perfectly, not chewy like some places, and went great on the sandwich roll. As for the sides, The mac and cheese is awesome. Smothered in real cheese and topped with crispy breadcrumbs. Get it. The beans are my go-to side along with the cornbread. A perfect combo and extremely flavorful. The potato salad, a little weak, but hey, you can’t win em all right? All in all, I’ve had BBQ all over the valley, and there are certainly places that are great like this one, but if you’re in the selma/Kingsburg area there’s nothing better than this place. I just hope they can handle all the customers and still have some ribs left for me when I go!

Tri Tip — 4⁄5 The tri tip sandwich wasn’t all that big; however, the meat was very good. I would recommend this place to people who are looking for a quick BBQ bite

A Discovery! A new BBQ place in Selma we stumbled on. This place specializes in Chicken, Ribs and Tri-tip take out from its compact location on Front Street in Selma. We bought a rack of ribs and got a dozen or so large, meaty, and very flavorful ribs. meals were reasonably priced. We were very happy. The place is run by a couple of young chaps who are starting out in the BBQ business. They have the smoker running out back. If you are planning a large order, you probably should call ahead so they can serve you better.
