Route 43/Highland Late night craving for that taco itch. It’s a pretty convenient place to drive to when you feel like getting tacos late at night. They have a few taco options to choose from, and during my first visit I decided to sample the carne asada and the al pastor(pork) fillings. They are small tortilla but boy do they packed them in size. I usually get nothing but meat most of the time so if you want to make a complete meal out of them and are feeling really hungry, I would suggest getting around 3 – 5 tacos. I ordered them to go and they wrapped them up in foil, and the veggies/salsa are close-by to load them up however you want, as much as you want. I thought that the tacos were pretty good, but the carne asada and the al pastor didn’t really taste too different in flavor for me. Both were seasoned well, but they tasted quite similar to one another. Given the size of these tacos, you can pretty much down one easily with just a couple of bites. To me this truck is better than it’s competition quarter of a mile away down south of the 43/Highland not too far, I believe is called Tacos La Flor… now that place is kinda wack but more popular. Alcohol clouds judgement and impairs people’s taste buds I guess. The service was also alright, and the people who work there seem friendly enough. The food did take a while to be prepared though, so if you come here, do expect to wait a bit before your order is completed. I also think that for the amount of taco you get, the price is reasonable considered how late it is. Also cash only keep that on mind when your about to come over here. Overall, not a bad place to go when you’re in the mood for some tacos, so I would definitely not mind coming back here again. I rate this place 3.5

Located right off the highway, this truck provides some of the most authentic food I’ve ever had. Chain run Mexican restaurants should be ashamed of themselves. Imagine if this cook had a full sized kitchen. While the food rates 5 stars, the location is sorta hidden from the northbound side of the highway. And after a small rain, the parking area muddied up quickly. Will certainly be back.

I’m not too experienced with taco trucks, as me and my friends are veggies. But this truck dishes up a great cheese quesadilla and has all the fixins on the side. It was convenient right on highway 43.

The latest thing these days seems to be the replacement of small restaurants with catering trucks parked next to an easy-up. I see this all over south LA, and now I’ve seen it in rural Selma. The food was great! I had an excellent carnitas burrito and my wife had a stupendous carnitas quesadilla. Both were top notch and came to $ 11, including a small horchata for me. Moist meat. Generous servings. Good quality ingredients. Preventing a five rating is the seating. There were flies everywhere. I’m pretty much not bugged(heh) by flies, but there were dozens of them, and they were constantly landing on the food. My wife was bothered more by it, so she was waving her hand the entire time she was eating. So, if flies are a problem for you, in this neck of the woods, you’re going to have to go inside and not eat next to a growing field in a rural area. It was also hot – in the 90s – so that made the fly problem worse. I think that a strong fan or two might help. Instead, they have some pathetic little fly strip/trap that was doing nothing. What self-respecting fly would go for that with all the good food being served?
