Great service and food. A shout out to Victor, a great bartender. The crab legs are a must get and are enough to feed two. The salad bar is good, nice variety. Love the fresh fruits in the summer. Only change I would make is to add soup to the menu especially in the winter.

Met here with family for a Christmas lunch. I’m not from the area, but my wife is. Every time we come out near Seneca, Morris, Ottawa she always brings me somewhere new. There’s actually quite a variety of good dining out this way. Harper’s Hideaway is not one of those places. The place is dressed up to be one of the nicer restaurants in town, but on many levels it did not deliver. There was only one or two other people in the place, and yet service was slow on many levels– from getting the first round of drinks(all soda) to getting what amounted to low end bar food, or even getting refills– everything just took a long time. Ton’s of ice in your soda, coupled with slow service, means you’re gonna be thirsty. The menu looks much better than what the kitchen delivers. Glad I didn’t order some of the fancier things on the menu, or else I’d be a bit more critical… Father in law got a sandwich which amounted to bread, melted cheese, and some sort of frozen meat patty. My chicken wrap was lukewarm, and had that sort of highly preserved grated cheddar cheese that never melts. Wraps were also poorly assembled. Fries were from frozen. Salads overpriced. In fact, the whole thing was overpriced. This is the type of place that I would have gone to after a heavy night of drinking– but even then, it’s overpriced so I would still probably skip this. I would like to say though that the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, so was the location. There’s a ton of potential for Harper’s Hideaway to be the upscale bar/restaurant it seems to be selling itself as. But, the only reason I would come back, would be if I heard there had been some major changes.

Definitely go for the Saturday night prime rib special. Great price and the food is awesome. It comes with a choice of potato(go for the garlic mashed, lumpy and not over garlicky), vegetable of the day, and the salad bar. The salad bar has a wide variety and also has a cheese, bread, salami table.

Nice relaxing atmosphere. Food was excellent. Salad bar was very good. A variety of choices for all. The stuffed mushrooms and the crabcakes were out of this world! Good sandwiches goods porkchops, excellent seafood. The service was a bit slow, very nice however. Casual dining overlooking the river was very relaxing.
