5 stars for a small flower farm tucked away in some hidden small town on the Olympic Penninsula? Well, yeah… maybe 4.5 stars. We flew, drove, and ferried 1,245 miles in the rain to visit this unique plot of dirt on the Northwestern side of Washington State. Apparently, GPS wasn’t necessary to find this place, since there were 3 small, but well placed and brightly colored signs just off highway 101 at Sequim. Unless you enjoy going au naturale, ignore these signs and head into town to use the restroom before visiting the farm. Don’t ask how we found this out… So anyway, turn here, turn there, take a couple pics of the farm animals(oooo…a horse), and you arrive at the Peony Farm. So you’re asking yourself at this point… now what on earth would motivate a 6’0″, type-A, Alpha male to visit a flower farm in Washington State? Relax, this was part of a b-day present for the small bundle of joy in my life. So you arrive and the first thing you notice is 1. wow, this place is tiny, 2. this place is neat and well cared for, and 3. OMG! No bathrooms! When we arrived, we were the only people here, which was understandable, since it was raining and muddy. In fact, there was no one at all, except for us! So we walked around and soon enough, we heard a «hello» from the adjacent house, and the owner, Amy came out to say hello and show us around the place. She’s this incredibly friendly and knowledgeable bundle of energy who apparently moved here from Sandy Eggo to realize her dream of owning a flower farm. We should all be so lucky. She had her flowers organized by rows and type. Very neat and precise. She also takes orders for Peony roots, and as we learned soon, has a fairly good following in the area. In the 30 or so minutes we were there, we saw 10 or more people visit the place and place orders. That’s not too shabby for a rainy and muddy day in the middle of what appeared to be nowhere. Very nice place and a pleasure to share in someone’s dream.
