Where do I start… We went in at 5pm, 4 out of about 30 tables were occupied we were told we need to make a reservation so we did for 5:15pm. Fine, I understand maybe your servers aren’t there. We went to the bar to have a drink. Drinks were 3 stars not hard to mess up a Makers Mark neat. Finally got seated for dinner ten minutes late. So far everything was fine. We got served rolls they tasted hard and stale like they were sitting out for 2 days. The bread was the best part of the meal. We got a Cesar salad. This was the worst Cesar salad I have ever had in my life. Tasted like it was from a bag no flavor it did not taste fresh. For dinner my friend and I split a prime rib. It was about 14oz but half of it was pure fat. The good part tasted average. It came with vegetables also out of a bag with a plastic taste. They were at least cooked to the right consistency. The puff pastry with horseradish sauce was decent but obviously not made on site. My friend got a duck breast it wasn’t tender enough kind of dry. The saffron rice was not good. Just on this I would give the place 2 stars but the fact that they say on the first page of the menu that everything is locally sourced from the finest ingredients is a COMPLETEJOKE. This food tasted manufactured and not fresh. The price tag was way to expensive for the food quality. It’s like eating at a crappy chain restaurant and paying $ 25 – 35 for entrees ridiculous. Service was just ok nothing special also nothing great. You could tell this dining experience was common lots of people at other tables pushing food around on their plate with disgruntled looks. Campers beware … Your better off making a PB&J in your tent/RV/room. It will taste better and you’ll have $ 50 left in your wallet.

Dinner: I had the Prime Rib. It was cooked to medium perfection. I was very satisfied with this meal. Oh, I also had a cesar salad that was on point. Dessert: The chocolate mousse toffee cake was so rich and delicious. Breakfast: This is served as a buffet style with a cook making eggs/omelets. I have to give a shout out to the cook. She made effort to stir up conversation while cooking — great energy and very sweet. 2nd Dinner: I had the cajun pasta and it was also bomb.

Inside Sequoia National Park, there are limited choices to have a nice meal. Plenty of parking spaces on a Sunday afternoon. I assumed most people have checked out of the lodge and went home. We got a very nice table next to the window. The view was amazing. I saw the sequoia branches danced around. Service was good. Our server was a bit slow due to other customers in need of attention, although we were not in a hurry. My soda was very flat but I got another one that was much better. I did not get a refill on my soda. My grass fed beef burger was 8oz delicious. For a burger that is more than $ 10, I thought the bun should come with sesame seeds. The thousand island dressing on the burger was spicy which I wasn’t told. My french fries was too salty. After i scraped off the fancy salt and pepper, the fries tasted good. My honey has a chicken sandwich. We tried the cranberry chocolate bread pudding for dessert and it was yummy. Wished it was in a larger portion.

3.5 stars. I needed something for the night and I didn’t want to survive on bear claws. Being vegetarian for the day complicated things — a sandwich from the deli wouldn’t do. Luckily, while I had cell signal, I looked up this place and decided to head there and hoped for the best. The lodge was less busy than usual due to the forest fires. It was sad but that’s probably how I managed to find a seat even without a reservation. The setting of the place is forest-fancy: in the same vein as the Ahwahnee at Yosemite. I got a French onion soup and a pasta. The soup was on the salty side and not great, but the pasta was decent. It was on the small side portion-wise, and any normal human being will need to order another side or two to go with it. This food is definitely on the pricey side for the quality, but you won’t find any sit-down restaurant like this around here for miles and miles. The waitstaff was very nice and didn’t mind my late entrance at all. It’s nice to have some service even though they know they will get enough customers on a normal day. Now that NPS has switched vendors, I wonder if any of this will change… Hopefully for the better?

Came here cause we got hungry after throwing snowballs all day and it was the best decision of the day!!! We came in the middle of a rush so we had to wait a lil bit…(still less time than a Dennys in our hometown) and our waiter jerrod(spelling) really made the wait worthwhile… extremely friendly and courteous not to mention the food was fantastic!!! Next time we stop there we hope to have the pleasure of having him there for us!!!

If i was the only restaurant on the hill… i would still try to impress… many would see that this is the ultimate monopoly and not give a flying hoot… well…the peaks lies somewhere in the middle… we ate here for 2 reasons… Breakfast was included in our package and where else were we gonna eat!!! Breakfast is a buffet…2 price options. one including hot/cold cereal, fruits and pastries also coffee, tea and juice… the more expensive(at $ 13 a person… about $ 7 for kids) included the hot food too… which was eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, french toast. Our included the whole shebang… but if i was to pay i would have stuck with the lower price point since I really only ate the oatmeal, fruit and coffee. The eggs were meh… but everything else was pretty good. no complaints. first day our«server»(who really only clears plates) was super nice and even brought the kids hot cocoa(no extra charge… i assume it was meant to be included)…he even got a tip from me(not usual for me to do so at a buffet that 100% self serve). day 2 we never saw a server… we cleared our own tables. we ended up having to leave early since someone brought their dog into the dining room and my son, who is allergic, started sneezing. i understand that may or may not need their service pets… but it really sucks when it affects others who can no longer be in a restaurant because of allergies. dinner…we ate here 2 nights. night #1.i had every intention of getting the salad but the special was a filet mignon stuffed with blue cheese and mushrooms with mashed potatoes! omg like my dream. i ordered it… it was good. but i was stuffed because we also splurged and order their version of poutine. it wasn’t the best i’ve had but it was quite good… loaded with trip tip. yum! 1 kid had the grilled cheese. the other the pasta… pasta was bland… she didn’t like it… grilled cheese was good(they both ordered it the next night)…& not bad at $ 5(including a choice of veggies, fruit or fries). hubby had the vegan burger(he said because it has avocado and sprouts on it)…he really enjoyed it. next night i got the salad… yum! it was yummy. hubby got a regular burger but with the toppings from the hippie burger… even better this time! nice that they made that substitution without any issue. flavors were good for everything(except that kids pasta)…no complaints. it’s not a 5 star dining experience… but it’s pretty good… you can have a high bill($ 100 before tip the first night for 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 drink each) or a low bill($ 35 second night 2 adults 2 kids no drinks)…your choice. night 1 was my daughters bday and they gave her a dessert of her choosing off the menu. she selected apple pie with vanilla ice cream. i must say it was an amazing apple pie!!! tips.double check your reservation. i made both reservations at the same time… friday and saturday 6:30 both nights… i double checked when we checked in… but when we showed up saturday night they didn’t have a res for me. good thing it wasn’t busy and we were seated. another tip… rooms have a decent size fridge… no microwave. if you don’t want to eat 3 meals a day here… bring some yogurt and fruit and sandwiches with you .then splurge a bit on dinner. service was friendly… service was not fast not slow… a perfectly times relaxing meal(where else would we need to be after dark in the snow?)

I was just glad that there was a decent sit down restaurant available. I recommend ordering their take out pizza than having dinner here. The food isn’t worth the price but the service is good.

We had the burger. Ordered it medium rare, but it came closer to well done. The buns were soggy, the meat dry and the dressing more suitable for fish. Order it with fries, not the 4 tiny red potatoes. Or don’t order it at all. We also tried the latin-bearnaise which was a disaster for a tarragon bea lover. The day after we had the take-out«the works» pizza. A much more pleasant experience. Go for that. Or bring your own food and skip this too-expensive-for-what-it-is joint.

Truth be told, we came to Wuksachi Lodge because they have WiFi. The Peaks is the restaurant inside Wuksachi Lodge. Open for breakfast. Close. Open for lunch. Close. Open for dinner. Close. We were there for lunch and I was super pleased to find they had Vegan items on their menu. It’s a nice restaurant. Service and food were okay. Rose substituted her side for fruit and it was partially frozen. Don’t do it. Have their steak fries or a salad instead.

After about 4 – 5 days of eating lunch out of our cooler during our hikes, coming to The Peaks was a breath of fresh air(not that our little sack lunches were bad). We stumbled upon this place accidentally while cruising the roads of Sequoia and we’re glad we did. The restaurant is located inside the Wuksachi Lodge, I’m sure the lodge has been there a while but both the interior and exterior have been well taken care of over the years and it is clean and cozy inside. While there for lunch we enjoyed the Grass Fed Burger, and Southwest Chicken Sandwich. Both were excellent and I’d definitely come back for more for our next visit. Whats great about the lunch menu is that the options don’t feel as if its just a diner that would serve greasy foods that would weigh you down. With the quality greens in the salads and options like whole wheat/grain breads or wraps(for those who care, the menu labels the what is Gluten/Dairy Free, vegan, organic etc), its clear the chef had put thought into the menu. The service was fine. We were seated immediately, our food was prepared and served in a timely manner, and our server came back to check on us every now and then. We left the restaurant fully satisfied and ready for another hike.

Perfectly«okay» food. Think casual American fare(like chain restaurants) — burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc for lunch. Got the burger with egg and bacon on it, nothing to write home about. No discernible taste in the beef. The best thing is honestly the wifi, in the Internet-wasteland that is Sequoia.

Location location location… The Peaks has it. It’s the perfect spot to take a break for lunch during a day trip to the sequoias. The décor is dated, but good enough… And I wasn’t really expecting much from the food, but was surprised that the burger and fries are pretty decent, with fresh lettuce and tomatoes There’s also plenty of parking

The food quality is sub par amd the service was less than desirable. 3 strikes on service. We had to remind the waitress twice on 2 separate occasions for our drinks and got ignored when asking for a box to go. This review is just about the specific waitress assigned to our table. When we asked help from other waiters, they were on point

During dinner, the complimentary multigrain bread is the bomb diggity. The trout(boneless!) was cooked very well. The vegan burger hit the spot but tasted very dry. I’d skip the vegan burger unless you have a sudden and unexplainable craving for a vegan patty, like I did. The old-fashioned cocktail was strong but confused. It seems that the bar wanted us to get plenty of Vitamin C because they stuffed an orange and lots of cherries into it. I’d skip the white chocolate cranberry bread pudding because it was strangely dry and there was no white chocolate to be tasted or seen. Lunchtime options were pretty good. The vegan mediterranean wrap, which included hummus, quinoa, lettuce, and mushroom, was delicious. The turkey and bacon club was huge and hearty. The salads are fresh. The kids mac and cheese was covered in watery cheese sauce. I’d skip it. Service is great! Everyone was so nice and helpful.

We stopped here for lunch after a weekend of hiking through Kings Canyon and Sequoia NP. We arrived at 2:32 but they seated us anyway. Lunch ends at 2:30. I had the spinach salad and my boyfriend had the Salmon burger and garlic fries. Everything was very tasty. Service was great. Definitely recommend this place for dining!

We went on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and this place was the only one open over 50 miles away. Very disappointed with the whole experience. SERVICE Terrible. When we were seated, the whole dining area was practically empty. Yet, we had to wait over an hour for our food to come out. Other smaller parties were seated later after us, and had received the food first. When we asked the server, she defensively said it was due to our big party(7 people). We finally spoke with the manager and he gave us 20% discount of our final bill. FOOD The have the usual fries, burger, fish and chips, salmon menu. Our group basically tried it all. Almost everything was either cold or overcooked or tasteless. Sometimes the combination of all the above. ATMOSPHERE It is a big beautiful dining area, they have a big window overlooking the trees and big fireplace in the back. Noise level was not bad, though a bit hectic. BOTTOMLINE Don’t go unless you were like us and had no other choice. You are better off packing a sandwich before you leave.

Located right in the heart of Sequoia National Park… the Peaks restaurant may be the only place for you to have a hot meal while visiting the park. My husband and I were able to experience both breakfast and dinner here. The employees working at the check-in area in the lobby at Wuksachi emphasized the fact that you need to make dinner reservations prior to dining at their restaurant. We took a quick peek to see how busy the dining area was and only saw 20% of the tables full but thought it was kind of silly that we still needed to make dinner reservations. I guess I could understand the fact that they probably did not want to be bombarded with several parties at the same time which is quite understandable. After driving a little over 6 hours just to get to Sequoia my husband and I were starving. The hostess that seated us for dinner was not so friendly and although the ambiance and view from the restaurant itself was beautiful the first impression from the staff itself started this dining experience off negatively. Our server and the rest of the waitstaff however made up for that initial negativity as they were very accommodating and kind. Prior to dinner we ordered drinks at the bar adjacent to the restaurant and they offered a fairly decent selection of concoctions that we brought over to our dinner table. We ordered several items for dinner the tri-tip flatbread, pork tenderloin entrée, and a ½ lb grass fed burger. The Peaks really emphasized the fact that they sold items on their menu that were«healthy»…grass fed, gluten free, vegan, sustainable… etc…so I was excited to get something tasty and fresh. The tri-tip flat bread was delicious. I wish there were more pieces of tri-tip but it was enough. The pork tenderloin my husband was ok too sweet for my liking. Nothing special about it. My ½ lb grass fed burger was not so good. I asked for it medium and it was charred! I had to ask for mayo and other sauce to slather it up hallelujah for the french fries that came with it. The highlight of our meal was our dessert we ordered the honey lavender ice cream which came in a chocolate coated waffle bowl. Delicious! My favorite item on the menu. I was disappointed with our entrees considering they were pretty pricey at 24 for the pork tenderloin and 13 for the burger so my expectations for taste and quality were high for the price. For breakfast The Peaks offers 2 options for breakfast $ 8 for the continental breakfast and for hot items an additional 4 bucks at $ 12. There is complimentary coffee at the lobby area. There were several flies zipping around the pastry area and so I was really hesitant to eat any of those options so I stayed over by the hot items and fruit. At least you can enjoy the beautiful view while enjoying your morning cup of joe. All in all there isn’t really any other option on places to eat so we had to make do with what the Peaks had to offer. Otherwise bring your own food options and remember to use a bear box which out exploring or leave it in your room.

We just got back from a trip to Sequoia, and stayed at the Wuksachi for two nights. It is off season and there wasn’t much else to choose from in the way of food, so we basically ate three meals a day here. The breakfast is buffet style and priced at $ 13 if you do the hot, and I think $ 8 or so for continental(fruit, yogurt, pastries) only. The hot included eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. I think it was a good value and we were pretty pleased with all of the choices. They had juice and coffee. Now dinner. The first night our waitress was kind of a space case and we had to ask for stuff multiple times, she was slow at clearing plates away, and I thought my dish(grilled tofu) was very bland. The second night we had an awesome waitress, she was totally on top of it, had personality, and we had a fabulous appetizer, dinner, and desserts. So I think the moral is that the service really depends on the person who is serving you, like any restaurant anywhere. I think that in this restaurant, everyone kind of moves on «mountain time» and you have to be patient. You’re on vacation, relax! Now the food. I think they do a very good job with most of their dishes. Aside from the one bland dish, we liked everything we tried. Actually the goat cheese gratin appetizer was so good we had it both nights! The prices are a bit high, but justified by the fact they have to schlep all of the food in to the park. Bottom line: give it a shot, you may not have another choice :)

Some of the bad reviews I read made us cautious, but this is one of the times where I would say that Unilocalers got it wrong. Expecting a Vegas style 5 Star buffet or Mastro’s steakhouse in the middle of nowhere would be too naïve on any visitors part. «Beggars can’t be choosers» is a mindset we had when we were broke students. That is exactly how we treated the only restaurant in the park, and our lunch experience was awesome :) We were there at this restaurant the two times we visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Both the times we walked into the restaurant hungry and tired, and left full and refreshed. I think that classifies as a job well done.

We had lunch here. It was ok. My husband liked his fish and chips($ 14). I had a salmon burger($ 11) which had a strong fishy taste and not a lot of flavor. The service was friendly but fairly slow. The ambiance is probably the best thing — there are floor to ceiling windows with nice views and there were a bunch of deer right outside while we were there. This is the«fanciest» dining option in the parks and the prices are higher than Grant Grove restaurant, but I did not find the food to be better quality(if anything I thought it was worse). The service was better though.
