I was recently at the Seven Springs ski resort in Pennsylvania for Autumnfest. The fall foliage was absolutely beautiful, so everyone was moved to celebrate. And I think a good time was had by everyone in spite of the food. Enter Emo’s Pit. I ordered a kielbasa sandwich with sauerkraut which came with a complimentary helping of potato chips. Oh, the chips. While some places might bother with actually making their own or insisting on some gourmet variety that uses sea salt, Emo’s does away with such pretense. No, no. They just grab a big old bag of Lay’s and pour some on your plate. Something you would encounter at a family picnic say, except here you are paying a premium because you are at a resort. Emo’s is something else. With that said, my kielbasa sandwich actually wasn’t terrible. I had a very large sausage that was flavorful, but I thought the sauerkraut was all wrong though. Overall, my sandwich was passable. However, the other people I was with thought that the chicken breast sandwich with BBQ sauce was borderline dreadful between the dry chicken and the sauce added after the fact. Yikes. I wouldn’t eat here again, though the folks were pretty friendly. 2.25 stars
