This was a great restaurant for our group dinner! We will bring clients with us next time! Make a reservation or you might be eating very late!

Very accommodating to allergies #1! Food was great. Fresh country fancy is my personal description. Best food in the mountain but you will pay for it and that’s ok. We will be back.

Beautiful, scenic view was the best part of the experience. We had reservations and waited at the check in desk for some time before going in search of someone to seat us. Meal was mediocre for the price. I had the goat cheese/beet salad, fried goat cheese balls.. .eh, I could have done without them. As an entre I had the roasted butternut squadh, which would have tasted wonderful had it been more fresh. Either way, ok experience at best but won’t go back.

Excellent porcini truffle mushroom ravioli, steak tartar, a tenderloin with smashed potatoes and after dinner the crème brûlée and a house coffee(with a splash of baileys). Everything from start to finish was perfection! I can’t wait to come back!

Last night I had the most amazing meal here with the most incredible waiter. The heating system wasn’t quite adequate enough to handle single digit temperatures, so we were warned ahead of time that the conditions might be a little icy. Upon arrival, we were prepared for the worst. Rick, our incredible waiter, met us at the door and escorted us to the best seat in the house… right next to the fireplace! After looking over the wine list, he was very helpful with selecting the perfect wine for our budget and palate. Throughout dinner, he was spot on with suggestion after suggestion, guiding us like a pilot through what could have been a rough and turbulent culinary storm!!! It’s nice to know that when you go somewhere of such prestige, they also have the staff to provide service which goes hand in hand with the gourmet meal. It’s definitely an experience that I’ll never forget, not just for the perfect meal, but the perfect service. You have a customer for life…

We have been here many times for lunch and dinner when visiting family. We decided to enjoy dinner here during Memorial Weekend while we were on vacation. It was couples night out. Before being seated, we sampled different wines at the bar while taking in an awesome view of the place. Helen’s is the original home of the Dupre family, who founded Seven Springs Resort. Even before entering the restaurant, there is an excellent waterfall and spectacular layout. The beautiful architecture and amazing history of this place completes the whole experience. We sat in one of the cozy rustic lofts. We started with several appetizers including a delicious sampling of cheeses. The salad presentation was so attractive on other customers’ tables that my friend and I enjoyed them while our guys had soup. I ordered the succulent lamb and my husband enjoyed the delicious duck. All four of us shared the appetizers and let each other sample our main dishes. We were the last table, so it was an awesome romantic atmosphere for us as couples. Service was great and very attentive. We will definitely be back for another weekend evening dinner of wonderful food enjoyed with good friends.

Went for valentines day and ordered an attractive 5 course special. It included some of our favorite food items, so needless to say we have much to compare. The service was as slow as we’ve experienced. The pricing was in line of some of the finest restaurants we’ve eaten at so we expected it to be fine dining. They appear to be fine dining but food tasted sub par. Eat else where everything tasted a few days old. Not worth your time or money.

Very disappointing New Years Eve dinner. First, the manager and the hostess handled the situation with our reservation very poorly when they made a mistake. Second the service was slow and uneven. The staff seems very out of sorts and flustered. The food was good but the poor atmosphere completely overwhelmed the meal.

I am a long time fan of Helen’s and it’s been an annual treat to have lunch here during Seven Springs Autumnfest. Every visit is a treat, we always share a crab bisque. And then select a delicious meal, whether it’s a special salad or sandwich. And every time, the food is delicious and the service is outstanding. The food has not changed much at Helen’s. The service has. We were greeted and seated right away. It was a bit of a wait to order beverages. And a wait for a brew. And it sorta became a bit of joke amongst the nearby diners. A server came out a couple of times baffling about how they ran out of this wine. And next they had lost the keys to the alcohol chest? But the server was more than happy to walk down to Foggy Goggles to pick up the needed beverage. Finally we got to order. And it was a long wait for our crab bisque. We waited. And waited. And finally our super effervescent server delivered the soup with the entire meal. All at the same time. Well except my fries. The fries arrived probably another 30 minutes after the ketchup showed up. Later, after we were half done eating, she arrived with a pepper grinder. And it went kind of like that for the rest of our meal. Another couple arrived a bit later and even though tables were empty, they were not cleaned and ready to go like in a real restaurant. So, they had to wait at the bar. And wait. And wait. Needless to say, we didn’t stick around for dessert. It was even a hassle to get our check and another hassle to get our credit credit picked up. Not sure if the restaurant is under different management. Or no management. Not sure if we will be trying them, again. Such a disappointment.

Take a break from skiing and the raucous eateries crowded with teens and twenty-somethings and have a decent meal. The crab bisque is top rate. Be sure to ask them to make it hot. The hamburger is also great. Pretty much everything else is ok. It seems every time I go here the menu shrinks and the prices go up. But it’s quiet. They serve real food. And there seems to be a chef(or at least a cook) in the kitchen. Enjoy

I have a season pass at Seven Springs and have been going to the resort my entire life. We eat at the lodge most days, but decided to treat ourselves to Helen’s for lunch today. HUGE mistake. The restaurant is beautiful and so cozy. Three of us walked in to the room, with two empty tables. We were told that it would be about twenty minutes for the tables to be cleared. It took about ten minutes for our table to be cleared. I decided to have soup and salad — the crab bisque and the Firefly Farms Beet and Asparagus Salad. I was hungry enough for a soup and salad. The waitress brought the ‘salad,’ which was clearly not a salad. There was one piece of asparagus, nicely sliced, seventeen small cubes of beets(there were so few that I could actually count them), a couple crumbles of goat cheese, and one leafy pea tendril. It was good, but literally took me four bites to eat. I was shocked and amazed that Seven Springs actually serves that as a salad. The worse part, the ‘salad’ was $ 9.00, and not worth a single bite. The soup was good, but not as good as it has been in the past I’ve heard that Helen’s food quantity has really gone downhill and I cannot recommend anyone to eat there. Yes, the place is beautiful, but three of us left there, having spent approximately $ 70(there were two glasses of wine), and we were all starving when we walked out. The waitress told us that the executive chef, who had been there for over 25 years ‘left’ over the summer, and the change is evident and unfortunate.

This romantic little place is a gem. It was a great place to celebrate our Anniversary. The food was outstanding. We started the the Caesar Salad which was prepared beautifully at the table. My husband had the Elk — wow it was so delicious. I had the scallops, perfectly done and divine. Chef Josh is talented and passionate– his food is excellent. The hostess, the servers, and the bartenders are all very professional and kind. Can’t wait to get back. Thanks so much!

We stayed at Seven Springs. Ate at Helen’s for dinner, called ahead and explained that we are vegans. Chef Josh Wetshtein went out of his way to create the most amazing meal we have had. We made reservations for one more meal before we leave the resort.

Ate here with my husband on a Tuesday night. Crowd was small but that is to be expected with the crappy weather poor Seven Springs has been enduring as of late… We tend to be a little more laid back so we dined at the bar and had a great conversation with the bartender who really knew her stuff not only about the wines and spirits but the food as well. I believe her name was Kate. Very friendly! Started off with a Chefs sample of venison pastrami with goat cheese on a baguette that was to die for! Should be on the menu! I had scallops that were seared to perfection atop a wonderful risotto. Husband had elk tenderloin medallions that he couldn’t stop talking about! All in all a fantastic dining experience, we will be back!

Several years ago, my mother, having long given up the hassle of holiday cooking, made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner at Helen’s. This past Thanksgiving dinner was no different and made for our fourth year in a row. That being said, this review is based solely on the Thanksgiving service. To start with, the whole meal is served family style with all of the traditional Thanksgiving fare(and some not so traditional). You start with a salad and as you are finishing that up, the chef brings out the turkey and carves it table-side. The sides are as follows: rolls, mashed potatoes. sweet potatoes, creamed peas and onions, buttered noodles, three different types of stuffing, and more that I can’t even remember. You then got a choice of different desserts including apple pie, pumpkin pie, and chocolate crème brûlée. All in all, the food is absolutely wonderful. Although it may seem pricey, the value is far better than their normal menu. The really awesome thing is that they continue to refill all of your sides and then send all of the leftovers home with you. In addition, the atmosphere is absolutely lovely inside of this cozy cabin. There were a few problems that we experienced this year that we hadn’t in previous years. For one, the restaurant clearly overbooked and the tables were close enough that privacy was lacking and the room got REALLY loud. In addition, the waiters were struggling to keep up with the demands of constantly refilling side dishes and drinks. Again, this was a result of the overbooking. My mom was upset so the next day she placed a call to Helen’s and asked to have someone call her back. The new food and beverage manager actually came down to meet us at the bar at the main lodge, listened to her complaints, promised to remedy them for next year, and comped our drinks. This type of customer service really impressed all of us. Despite these problems, there is no doubt that we will continue to return to Helen’s for Thanksgiving dinner. You cannot beat the atmosphere, fabulous food, and the lack of a cleanup.

If you’re in the Laurel Highlands area or at Seven Springs, I think Helen’s is probably the best dining experience in the area. Recently my wife, brother, and his girlfriend all had dinner outside on their deck. It was a warm Friday night and most of the tables were full. There’s a lot of creative things on the menu both in appetizers and entrees. I started with a delicious bowl of mussels in white wine cream sauce. My entrée was a roasted duckling. It was basically the entire bird on the bone in 4 separate pieces. Both were excellent. Helen’s has some fairly well priced wine. We shared a bottle of Paraduxx that was only about 1.5x over cost(I’ve had the same bottle at a Big Burrito restaurant marked up over 2x cost). The entrees weren’t as fairly priced. They were pretty steep. My wife got a filet that was as expensive as Capital Grille or Ruth’s Chris. It wasn’t nearly as good. Not even close. In a sense, Helen’s has got you because there’s no where else around there serving this quality of food. Therefore, they can charge you whatever they want. Either way, we had a tasty and fun dinner and Helen’s is worth a shot if you’re in the area.

I would give it 5 stars and I am sure they deserve it, but I had a little too much to drink at the Lodge before venturing or should I say meandering there. Helen’s is the original home of the Dupres’ built over 65 years ago and the founders of the Seven Spring’s Resort, Mr. Dupres’built this in 1932 and he was a craftsman. The beams are hand-hewn and the building has a lot of stonework. A beautiful rustic fireplace, a cozy loft and many artifacts are still in the cabin. Today, Helen’s is twice the size of their original home. Helen’s is a wonderful short stroll away from the Seven Spring’s lodge, with waterfalls from mountain springs falling softly on the rocks. Very romantic with a partner, but Mom and I still enjoyed the magic. The dining experience is unique and diverse. Escargot en Champagne, along with many other appetizers, including fresh sushi hand rolls, served with wasabi, ginger, soya sauce such as a spider roll with spicy cream cheese, Alaskan crab meat, avocado and cucumber. Sides include risotto, asparagus, candied carrots, garlic rapini and spinach, mashed sweet potatoes and Mongolian lo mein. These may sound like simple sides but they are prepared beautifully. Their salads are very unique and I try to mimic the baby spinach, strawberries and walnut salad at home and serve it with a balsamic vinaigrette. Entrees include twin lobster tails, pheasant Helena, which are hazelnut egg-battered medallions with a Frangelico butter sauce, wild duck, brook trout, Mongolian style New Zealand lamb, salmon roulades which are spice crusted, seared and served with a Grand Marnier-mandarin orange crème sauce, snow peas and lobster served with crispy Asian noodles, Osso Bucco and many others, including a few specialty pasta dishes. They are entertaining with table side service for their delicious Caesar salad and Steak Diane. Kudos to them for using many local ingredients when possible.(Like homemade venison keilbassi.) A must try if in the area or a romantic get away.
