If you are in the Severna Park area, be sure to stop in Brian Boru’s for a cold beer and a delicious bite to eat! The restaurant looks like an authentic Irish pub on the inside, with lots of wood and first responder patches on the wall at the bar(something that they do in every pub I have ever been to in Ireland). The food is also fresh and delicious and the service is stellar! Make sure you stop in on Saturdays… Jamie is always working and he is a top notch bartender/server. He is friendly, personable, and always willing to give you a good recommendation on what to try. He hasn’t steered me wrong yet! Try the burgers, try the meatloaf, try the fish and chips — they’re all great and the service is even better!

I really really want to like coming here. The atmosphere is relaxing and the entrées are very well prepared. It’s the service that is severely wanting. Each and every time I come here I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick Lucy’s football; eager anticipation of a good experience only to have the hypothetical ball swung out of the way. The wait staff is slow and so inattentive that I feel like they don’t really care. This has happened every single I have come here. And it just happened again tonight *sigh*

Had my first experience here last night(on St. Patrick’s Day) and loved it. Food was authentic and the atmosphere was nice. Will definitely be going back. I had the Reuben and my boyfriend had the Fish and Chips– both of which were yummy! The fish batter was perfect! Light and flaky! highly recommend– but be sure to make reservations a week or two in advance for St. Patrick’s Day! (The only thing keeping me from giving five stars is the desserts were a little bland. We were disappointed. We tried the bread pudding and Guinness chocolate cake)

First time came here with my daughter and her friend, it was raining outside. The place was not busy a handful of people. I ordered the pot roast and the girls ordered the crab cakes. We all enjoyed our meals, it was good and we will be back soon

So it’s been a while since we have been here we used to come all the time. We might not be heading back so quick next time as things have changed and some not for the better. They have gotten lazy with things… the colcannon which they used to have on point. Was not good they slacked and used the slaw cabbage instead of the boiled cabbage from the boiled dinner and lots of butter.. they get a zero for this. The fish and chips I had was good but they might have changed the batter. still good but not the same. Also not that this is food related but they have heinz bottles but I highly doubt they have heinz ketchup in them… did not taste right. So my rating has gone down from when I first started coming. seems they are cutting corners and shorten the menu. I’m a bit sad about this. The cabbage rolls we got were amazing which is why I was so disappointed in everything else that came to the table. I just remembered they used to bring irish bread to the table and I loved the soda bread… did not see even a bread basket in the place?

Overall a good experience. Went here for Sunday brunch with a party of four. I like their omelet ordering system; it was convenient and the omelets came out quickly. The food was tasty but not out-of-this-world tasty. The bread pudding was my favorite and I would definitely recommend that. The service was average. The waiter forgot to get a few things we asked for and was semi-awkward to converse with. However he was friendly and courteous so I can’t complain too much. I would recommend to come here for a good brunch at a decent price.

Went here for brunch Today. First time. They had there buffet Going. The waiters were good. Our Waiter was in training and the trainer Was close by. We were his first solo Table he did great, The food on the other hand not so great. The shepherd’s pie was extremely salty, it over powered the dish. Our server mentioned this to the Chef, who agreed that the dish was a little salty. The Eggs Benedict were dried out little yolk balls with very little Hollandaise sauce. My 86 year old mother, who recommended this place, had an omelette that looked like a folded over scrambled egg and she was horrified. The bagel with cream cheese was good. Don’t know if we will go back again . Ever place deserve a second chance or at we think it does.

Mediocre food, at best. I’ve been a bunch of times and keep getting disappointed. I will stick to the bar in the future.

Brian Boru Restaurant is a excellent place to dine. My wife and I were visiting our eye doctor and decided to have lunch at the restaurant. I talked to the Chef Greg and Joe the waiter who were as nice as anyone could be. I told the Chef that the Bean, Potato Soup and Ham Soup was perfect also the Corn Beef and Cabbage Egg Rolls was different and great. We have eaten at Brian Born for dinner and the we admired the ambience of the restaurant and the Lamp Shank that eat was delicious when they have a special. If it isn’t on the menu ask. Will visit Brian Boru very soon. I rate Brian Boru at least a 5 Irish Flags or Stars if you prefer. Mario and Merle Teresi, Dundalk, MD

Bottom Line: A casual and utilitarian Irish-ish pub that fulfills the role as an addition watering spot in SP. Brian Boru, located on the north bound side of Ritchie Highway, is an Irish pub serving libations and Irish inspired bar food. The atmosphere is casual and the staff is friendly. Nothing about this establishment is amazing, but I always appreciate a local business. If the luck of the Irish is with you, you will be able to enjoy Happy Hour specials in the bar until 6:30pm, Monday’s through Thursday’s. Happy hour includes draft beers, a few cocktails and a handful of appetizers. As much as I love a cold Smithwicks, you can’t beat the $ 5 Martinis here during HH. I also enjoy the $ 5HH crab pretzel. Something that Brian Boru does really well is Tuesday night trivia. Trivia starts at 7:30pm, is free and moves at a comfortable pace. Just don’t get your knickers in a bunch if you lose to Beer Pressure. The trivia winner even gets a prize! Often, Brian Boru feels like a quiet, quaint neighborhoods bar but there are times when it’s packed and loud. Expect a large crowd on live music nights.

I went here on St. Patrick’s day and the food tadted good. Great service. But almost my entire group got food poisoning from the shepherd’s pie. I ended up having to stay overnight at Anne Arundel medical center. Never again.

Went for mothers day brunch. First off I will preface by saying I do not like buffets. The food is over cooked and barely maintained. So to find out that this buffet was $ 20 for bland scrambled eggs and meat set me off. The server was so busy trying to rush us out that he forgot several things we ordered like drinks and so forth. Just not a good experience all around. The mojito however was great. Removed stars for: Staff and Parking

GREAT Nutty Irishman coffee! The food is solid but we haven’t had any standouts to shout about, the band is wonderful but we usually sit in the dining area because it is too loud(volume) to hear people talking when they play — even the slow songs are cranked up high. We haven’t had a bad drink yet, so do take a chance on the nutty Irishman — I think the whipped cream is made in-house.

I am so late n writing this review. I had dinner here on St. Paddy Day with my sweetie and must I say The fish and chips was delicious. I was in the mood for fish even though I do love Reuben Sandwiches. which the next time I visit I will check it out. This place was super crowded and they had a band performing which was great! Everyone was dressed up in there Irish gear and it was fun and the food was good. The desert I ordered was the Irish Bread Pudding OMGGG sooooo yummy! They have booths and regular dining tables and the staff is so friendly and helpful. It’s a good little drive away but if you want to try something different and you like Irish Pub bars and food give them a try. They also have non Irish items on there menu as well. with a very nice bar inside for drinks. and just hanging out. :)

Went to this place for the first time with a large group of about 25. I was pleasantly surprised… friendly enviroment, nice, cozy and clean. I had the crab cakes plates which was 3 stars but my husband had the NY steak which was juicy. Both dishes came with vegtables that looked fresh and cooked well. I would not recommend the Irish Mojito, it was weak but they have a lot of different drinks that I would like to try next time. All in all, I liked the place and it was great for our large group with excellent service.

After our experience here tonight I had to update my review. The place was dead. Seriously. The ravens game had just ended. I’d figured the place would be packed. There were maybe 20 people in the entire place. Our section was completely empty. So tell me why, if the place was that dead, did it take 20+ minutes to get our food out? And it’s not like they had to actually cook any of our food. To be clear that’s not a part of the complaint. I know the corned beef, mashed potatoes, shepherd’s pie and such are made ahead of time. They should be. So, why, if all you have to do is heat it up, did it take so frigging long? My kid and I were quickly losing our patience. Our server was very nice but new and probably not moving as fast as a could have but I’ve got to lay most of the blame on the kitchen. The manager came around and saw my frustrated face and checked on us.(A. with that few people eating you could be checking on everyone.) I mentioned how long it had taken and that we were still waiting on the scoop of(really bland and cheap tasting) ice cream for the kidlet. He agreed and thanked us for letting him know… and then took one beer off the tab. I’m not asking for a comp’d meal or a major discount but one $ 6 beer?

Solid 4.5. I’ve only been here once at night on September 20th and the place was busy. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait. My sister, her boyfriend and I met up here around 7pm that night. Service was undeniably fantastic; from our immediate refills, perfect timing between appetizers and entrees to them being very attentive without the feeling of intrusion. Even the other waiters that were walking by would service us and make sure we’re good. Onto the food. They apparently don’t serve Mac N Cheese anymore except through the kids meal so we ordered that plus the Bruschetta appetizer and we all got the Prime Rib. I got it medium rare and it automatically comes with steamed veggies and a baked potato. My sister’s boyfriend ordered a Guinness. Got it in a few minutes and we got our appetizers. Their Mac N Cheese was probably the best I’ve ever had, same with their bruschetta. The flavor from the MnC was outstanding. I can’t explain what it tastes like other than it’s cheesy and flavorful. As for the bruschetta, the bottom outer layer of the bread had a perfect crunch and at the same time the upper layer was as tender as a woman’s behind. Really though, it was divine. It has a strong flavor of garlic so it might not be the best choice for you non-garlic fans. However to me, I absolutely loved it. Now onto the prime rib. I’ve never been to places like Morton’s, Ruth Chris, Tio Pepe’s and other fine dining restaurants that serve steak so I hope you understand me saying this place has my favorite Prime Rib. It might not be the best to you, but for me and my experience, the prime rib here was near perfect. I got the prime rib medium rare so there were a couple places with gristle and there was a gigantic piece of fat sitting on the outer part of the steak. But aside from that the steak was cooked perfectly and though I’m not a huge fan of Au Jus, this place made it taste great with the steak. It was so tender, juicy and flavorful. What I did was take a small piece of the fat with a piece of steak and dipped it in the Au Jus… Absolutely marvelous. The veggies they gave me were seasoned just right. The baked potato was a baked potato. The fact that I got a medium rare, my steak was the biggest out of all 3. They also had a local band come in and play some music for us. I didn’t recognize any of the songs EXCEPT1 which was from an underrated band called Citizen Cope. They were great and since we sat kinda far, it wasn’t too loud. Just perfect. My sister’s boyfriend wanted a refill of Guinness but it took at least 15 minutes before he got it, however, our waiter said it’s on the house. Even if it wasn’t on the house, it didn’t deter my experience lol. Had a great time here and looking forward to getting their prime rib again!
