My wife and I spent the weekend here with two other couples and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room was comfortable and well furnished; the bathroom was large and stocked with fine toiletries; the lobby area was large, also well-furnished and inviting to spend time; and the deck/balcony which is common the all rooms on that side of the building was a great place to spend the evenings. The breakfasts were uncommonly great and so were the desserts left in the refrigerator for evening snacking. My wife and I WILL be returning in the future.

This inn is truly a five-star stay if you are looking for luxury in the mountains away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg. Yet, it’s only about a 12 minute drive into town. We stayed here for three nights in May of last year, and returned again this year. It’s a great time to be in the Smokies. Most rooms are very large and are located on the second and third floors of the large inn.(There is one room on the first floor.) All of the upper floor rooms open onto a large wrap-around porch with two rocking chairs for each room, great for gazing at the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Rooms have DirecTV, king beds, nice linens, ceiling fans, individual AC, and a gas fireplace. Our bath had a jacuzzi tub/shower with nice toiletries. Breakfast each morning is a treat. There are about 10 tables in the dining room, which is bright and cheerful. Each day’s breakfast was a gourmet meal! Hippensteal is within an easy drive into the Smoky Mountain National Park. The closest entrance is Greenbrier, just a mile left of where Buckhorn Road hits US321. The Palmer Creek trail there is great. Finally, for nice evening dining, eat at Buckhorn Inn, about 5 minutes from Hippensteal. Their dining is scrumptous!
