Chocolate gravy !!! My great grandmother used to make it for us 40 years ago. Nobody in family knew how to make it after grandma died. Was pleasantly surprised when i seen it on the breakfast bar during a trip to the smokies 2 years ago.

My wife and I ordered all you can eat pancakes. They would have been okay, if we had ordered all you can eat corn bread with syrup. Needless to say, they did take care and removed it from out bill. However, we left to eat somewhere else. At least they were pleasant in resolving our issue.

Every time I end up on a road trip through Tennessee, we always HAVE to stop at Shoney’s for the breakfast buffet. We never leave disappointed. The buffet is like a college all-you-can-eat cafeteria. The food isn’t really THAT great, but you just can’t stop eating. I think I put on another«freshman 15» by going up 3 times at the buffet. The eggs were the low point, but the potatoes were the high point. Also, there were chicken nuggets(for breakfast??? YES) that were excellent. We were very happy with our server as well. Nothing like some good old southern hospitality to start off the second day of a road trip. We were obviously from out of town and she was nice enough to chat us up and wish us well in our travels. For about 10 bucks, you could do much worse than Shoney’s. Just don’t expect the food to be anything more than a glorified Old Country Buffet.

We had lunch here today. We walked in and were sat down immediately. Our server came up and took our drink order. She did not have a friendly attitude during the whole time we were there. She went through the motions and that’s about it. No wow factor at all… it’s no wonder that they only get business after all the rest are filled up. The food was pretty bland but we ate it because we were hungry. The hostess was the only nice person that we came in contact with. We will not be visiting this restaurant again.
