I recently moved to Ohio from Pitman New Jersey and can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt they do not know how to make a good hoagie in the Youngstown Boardman area. I miss Pal Joeys… No more Sarcones rolls… Not sure how I’m gonna figure this one out. I asked for an Italian hoagie with oil vinegar salt pepper oregano and they gave me what was the equivalent of a hamburger bun only 10 inches long with salt pepper and Italian dressing when I asked about the oregano they’ve never heard of such a thing. What am I going to do?

My second time here in a month. Nice and clean, fast as lightening… but for the second time it went down hill when I got home and opened the sandwich. Yes, yes, Sarcone’s, Sarcones(soooo overhyped!) …its okay, stale again and this bread is crusty to start. This bread when begotten at Sarcones on the premises is really decent Italian bread. Like any roll, it loses something in the early morning transport and sitting in the boxes until opening. Anyhow, I figured who cares, because when the oil and vinegar sink in, I’m golden. Guess what? No oil & vinegar. Barely there white… ever so slightly pink tomatoes(make the effort for hot house PJ’s) and for the SECONDTIME… barely a trace of sharp provolone, prociutto or salami on my Sharp Italian… ALLHAM. I am done. First time I thought anyone can have an off experience, same sandwich, same experience… cheaped out on the meat and cheese. Stale bread, and no oil and vinegar! Oh asked for onions too… um shaved to perfection, but barely any on there. They got the following and then they cheaped out. Just as bad as Primo. Might have to start driving 20 minutes to Carmens in Bellmawr. Remember word of mouth can be your best or worst business card. Now, if you are someone who is just glad to have someone make it for you… it’s alright.

Only place I’ll ever get a hoagie. I mean it, there is not better place. The staff is just as excellent.

This deli has the best sandwiches that you’ll ever taste. The chicken parm is tender, the eggplant is delicious, and the sandwiches are stuffed to the brim. Don’t come here if you like sandwiches with nothing in them, because these are huge,(and amazingly delicious.) If you’re looking for something better than wawa, go to Pal Joey’s, and get yourself a real hoagie.

Have been noticing as of late that they have cut down on the meat and cheese they have been putting on their subs. A bit disappointed as they use to be proportionate with the amount of bread to meat/cheese. Noticed this on several occasions. Other sub joints in south jersey have now surpassed Pal Joeys.

Usually have excellent experience here, then I sent my wife. Told us the sandwich would be done in 20 minutes– if you’ve been here before you know it’s more like 2 minutes. They are lightening fast. Then treated her a second class citizen when she walked in. Bread was shamefully stale and customer service was complete crap. Very unusual experience at a usually excellent place

What can I really say besides best hoagie in Jersey. Been in the game 15+ years and absolutely a must have. Try and order before the last hour because they have steady been busy for 15 years and always run out of their fresh bread! Chicken Diablo and Turkey Diablo(both extra Diablo spice) are my go to sandwiches here! The friendliest service out of anywhere around and their hoagie is seriously really REALLY good. Choose this over a Wawa or Primo’s any day and you will not be disappointed!

Decided to come in for lunch on a rainy day. This place was packed with locals. Layout seems extremely similar to Primo’s. Actually I think they may share the same owner. I had the tuna Diablo. The tuna was well seasoned with a definite kick, the bread was a little too hard for my taste. Nice to find a hoagie joint around here, I’ll be back to try a normal Italian soon.

This is always a safe bet when you need a quality hoagie. I like the mixed cheese or an Italian, but that’s just me. Everything is fresh. The rolls are super good. I’m used to the hoagies having sooooo much meat in them. Only thing that was kind of lame was about a month ago, I went and I swear that the meat/cheese amount on the Italian was like cut in half from it’s usually quantity. Hope this was a fluke. Because honestly, it’ll be something I consider too expensive if it isn’t.

Still the best hoagies around! Have been trying to limit hoagie intake to lose some weight. But splurged recently and had a white tuna as well as a ham and swiss for sharing with friends. Hoagies are still the best in the area, rolls are incredible and staff is friendly and Joe always remembers your name. This place is a treasure!

Excellent, i wondered why it was just like primos and I found out the owners are brothers. Excellent! So much better than going to black wood for my primo fix! Wish the hours were longer though.

My favorite place to get lunch, I go here so often I’m surprised they don’t know my order by heart. Absolutely delicious!

I’ve been eating at Pal Joey’s since they were located in the center of Pitman. I’ll usually get an Old Italian hoagie or an Audie that’s made with turkey, ham, and cheese. You can stop at almost any deli and get an average hoagie. But if you’d rather have a better than Primo style italian hoagie locally, this is the place to go. My other vice and excuse for stopping here is the mozzarella balls.

I use to come to lunch here all the time, it was amazing! But now I’ve been trying other places, the meat was so thinly sliced and the rolls were great! The mozzarella was so fresh! Yum! But lately things have been getting a little sloppy, for instance with the eggplant sandwich(which was one of my favs) the past couple times its been so over fried it’s been like biting into shoe leather! Same goes for the chicken sandwiches as well. Then what ticked me off was how after all this time they decided now for a minimum of $ 10 for your card. To be honest as a college student I don’t carry much cash on me so now it’s a hassle. Not to mention the newer staff members aren’t that friendly. It’s a shame I haven’t been there in months now. But it was an ok place the last time I went there.

I really like Pal Joey’s, though I’m still not happy they moved from their downtown Pitman location a few years ago. That place had a really nice sub-shop vibe and the new place, though not terrible for ambiance, lost a little something when they moved to the strip mall. As far as subs go, they’re my favorite in Gloucester County. They use really good, crusty italian bread and give good portions. A good, healthy option of theirs is the Italian tuna sub with a little extra oil. They use real, Italian tuna, no mayo, and it’s delicious!

Best Italian hoagies in the Philly region. This is a Primo’s franchise and they use the crusty seeded rolls and high quality cold cuts. Hoagies are packed with meat and fresh ingredients. An authentic Philly sandwich!
