Girl behind counter was adjusting her nose ring by sticking both fingers up her nose. I asked a man behind the counter to have her wash her hands. She had an attitude and the man never apologized. I just thought it was the right thing to do. Not sure I’ll be back.

The guy making the food was eating while he was making my order. The place is not sanitary. Before i seen that i loved the place. Not anymore.

Would have gave it more stars if it was clean it was disgustingly dirty were so excited heard so much about the great yummy shakes The shakes are great but scared to even have one. i’m enclosing a picture you can see the backs of the seats how dirty they are it’s not from the day it’s not from a week it’s not from a month of not being cleaned you can have a hole in the wall and it can be totally awesome as long as it’s clean all tables were dirty the edges of the floors like I said it was a build up of grime. If it’s so dirty in the dining room how’s the kitchen? If you clean the place I will be back… would love to have a great shake.

Good food, overpriced, but fast, and hearty fry portions and good fry sauce. Don’t go when super busy or they might jack up your order and be rude to you while doing so.

Good food. Great shakes. Pretty big menu with burgers, fries, onion rings, toquitos, dogs, various ice-cream treats, etc… made to order. The only thing I haven’t cared for is the biscuits and gravy, the sausage gravy tastes just like the sausage gravy in those giant cans at Costco. :/Breakfast sandwiches are good though. I come here more often than I should. My go-tos are the crispy chicken sandwich or the chicken tenders with fries(crinkle fries!). They offer sauces for dipping your fries in; A+++ on the ranch-tastes homemade, no hidden valley yuck. Casual atmosphere with indoor seating as well as lots of outdoor picnic tables. Dining area could use a good deep cleaning and real bathrooms, I order and eat outside whenever possible. Two bacon cheeseburgers, two orders of fries and two shakes for $ 23, so a little more costly than fast food, but far better.

Ice cream was great, bacon burger was good. Really liked the crinkled fries. Did not care for the chocolate malt shake. Way too sweet. They must’ve made mistake and put maybe too much sugar/malt ?! Service was fine. I would return for the cones.

Its an oldskool ice cream/burger stand… It was decent, the burger was nothing special, but it wasn’t terrible either… The strawberry shake I had was pretty dang good… And the fries were alright… The portion sizes is where they do well, I got the double burger when a single would have been plenty… And I never finished my fries… The shake lasted me almost all the way home, 30 miles away… We did show up on the second hottest day of the year on a Saturday, so it was crazy there! The dining room needed air bad, like a fan… The air conditioner was so old and dirty it wasn’t putting out any cool air… The girls working behind the counters were hustling and busting out frozen treats with great speed and they were pretty nice as well! Bottom line is, it’s a nice little stop when heading to the lakes… But not worth making the drive from Medford or beyond just to come get a mediocre burger and or a tasty cold treat… ***Eat Local***

Not a very good burger from a small flat frozen patty paired with frozen crinkle cut fries, just all pretty bleh. To really make it a fun experience the three teenagers working seemed far more interested in checking their cell phones and loudly complaining about previous customers. Bummer!

It is just an old drive-in in the hamlet of Shady Cove. But the sandwiches are a little above average; they know how to properly cook french fries and the milk shakes of many flavors are very good. This is a favorite of the residents and catches many of the passing tourists and the hordes of summer rafters. Hunters and fishers are welcomed with appropriate décor and the TV set on the hunting or fishing channel. If you want ice cream, stop here. If you want fast food a cut above the chains, this is the place; want something fancy – go elsewhere.

Still good, but a warning that the food is pretty average. Ice cream and shakes are top notch and worth the high(er) prices, but unless you’re starving to death, avoid the food as its mostly ‘blah’ and overpriced. Still a great spot for cold treats on a hot day, though!

We stopped here after a bit of driving this was our 1st after crater lake OR… So my review may either really good because the food was good or cause I was starving and I had not eaten. So ya I got the patty melt and one scoop of the huckleberry cheesecake ice cream… The patty melt was so perfectly cooked I loved it… Just the right amount of crunch on the bread and the onions to patty and cheese ration was perfect… An above par patty melt in my opinion. The huckleberry cheesecake ice cream was super good lots and lots of cheesecake bites in it which I likessssas(: Also why gave it 5 stars is because its just and off road spot with wood picnic benches outside and some indoor sitting… But you can taste that the food was fresh and cooked with care… Also the people that worked there are super nice and friendly more Oregonians are in my opinion but its always nice to eat and like the people serving/cooking your food(: So if your driving and happen to see this little spot try it I’m sure it won’t disappoint!!!

We stopped for ice cream. The place is old-fashioned and makes it look cool. They have lots of food options on the menu… They even serve breakfast, but we went straight to ice-cream. The«small» size cone was more than my 9 year-old daughter could eat, but the ice cream was delicious. The service was great and the staff was friendly. A variety of ice cream for 6 people was exactly $ 15.

YUM. After a long, hot day of riding through the Oregonian countryside I decided to take a risk for dinner and I’m glad I did. The blackberry milkshake was amazing. It’s fairly simple — blackberry ice cream from Umpqua and milk, right? But the trick is to get the mixture and the smoothness. Phil’s has that mastered. The burger was … ok. Nothing great, but ok. Service was speedy for something that’s cooked to order.

After a recent trip to Crater Lake, we decided to give good ‘ol Phil’s another go… We knew there might not be any chocolate. Instead of focussing on what they didn’t have, we focussed on what they did… HUGE cones, delicious Umpqua Ice Cream, and great prices. Well, upon arriving, what did we find? A sign that says«New…Hard Chocolate Ice Cream!!!». Gosh darn it! That’s great news Phil’s! Bugsy can now officially give it the«Don’t Call Me Bugsy thumbs-up seal of approval!».

Props for being retro and old school. Love the«Friday Night Lights» vibe going here– this is a small town walk-up ice cream shack basically. It’s cheap and the greasy food smells really really good in that evil sorta way. They offer many types of Umpqua ice cream, but no plain vanilla and the only plain chocolate is hard pack. So, cones come in junior, small or large sizes. I chose small– i mean, right?! Wow. Wrong. Small is literally a HUGE double-scooped cone. I can’t imagine what a large cone would look like, but I’m guessing they somehow cram a gallon of ice cream into that sugar cone. My kids’ junior cones were a very large single scoop. This is what most people would constitute as «normal,» if not still a little much. I actually, for the first time ever in my life, knocked off about half of my ice cream into the garbage because I could not get through it all. So, that being said, I cannot fault this place for being a huge bargain: cheap prices and the most ice cream you will ever want. Plus, I love Umpqua ice cream… just wish they offered their vanilla as it’s my favorite! You should go here either stoned out of your mind, or order the junior cone.

Since Shady Cove is out in the middle of nowhere, this is the last place you’d expect to find decent food. But lo and behold, in Shady Cove is one of the better burger joints in southern Oregon. Much like Yellow Basket in Central Point, Phil’s Frosty adopts the southern California-style, Big Mac-esque ¼lb cheeseburger. That is, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, and special sauce on a sesame seed bun. It’s a simple formula — and one that’s repeated ad infinitum all over southern California. So when a southern Californian like myself is craving a cheeseburger, it’s this kind of burger I want. And it’s this kind of burger that is generally rare around these parts. Oh, but not in Shady Cove it isn’t! So yes, if you’re familiar with these near-ubiquitous southern California burgers, this is exactly what you’re going to get from Phil’s Frosty. You’re also going to get massive servings — the wife and I ordered a plate of nacho chili cheese fries in addition to the fries that came with my burger — and we easily had nearly an entire foodservice-size bag of fries between us. And unlike these SoCal burger joints, you’re obviously going to get the local flavor — which in Shady Cove, that’s a whole lot of rafters and fishers. Think the clientele from Sportsmans Warehouse up 62 in Medford — those dudes are the locals, obviously. They even have some fishing/sporting tv station on in the place always. So yeah, you may feel out of place if you’re not the camo-wearing type. But man, the food is good. And it doesn’t hurt that the help there is always easy on the eyes. I don’t come out this way very often, but PF is a must-visit whenever we do!
