HIDDENGEM! Ok this will be a longer review because this place deserves recognition! I have to be honest, we were skeptical when we first pulled up because it was a small little establishment that looked more like a small town bar than a place to grab food with our kids. But, the reviews on Groupon(which we had) were great and one comment said next time they would visit with their children so we thought«why not, we drove 3025 minutes, lets go in». We are SO glad we did. When we first walked in you could tell it was mainly regulars at the bar. We weren’t really greeted by anyone, and that was fine, it was a bar for cripes sake. We felt out of place at first but that’s common for a first visit. We found a table by the popcorn machine. The décor was sporty like, there were(I think) three tvs at the bar and one big screen in the back. We saw a sign that said you had to order at the counter/bar so we started looking at menus to get an idea of what we were going to order. I went up to the female bartender to let her know we had a Groupon for burgers and beers for two and that we would order food for the kids separately. Then we went placed our orders, grabbed some popcorn and went to play the hockey game they had in the corner. I have three boys, active boys, and they were really interested in watching these two guys play pool. I was nervous it would upset the guys but it was just the opposite. They were laughing and joking with them and included them when they were calling out their shots, etc. Then there was a gentleman at the bar that walked over to me(I was sitting at the table watching my kids) and dumped a pile of tootsie rolls in front of me for the kids. The boys ran over to him at the bar and said thank you and immediately divided them up between each other — they were ecstatic! Then had came back over and dropped off sour gum balls — again they were totally pumped. He told us the next time we come to visit he will have more candy for the kids. I think he’s known as the guy with candy because a couple other patrons made comments about him always having candy for kids. After we got our food the female bar tender checked on us to make sure we liked our food — which we loved. Then there were a few more guys that came in a watched the boys play hockey for a while, joking with my husband that he was losing. Then they played pool and let our boys watch and were joking with them, etc. One of the guys came up to my husband, shook his hand and told him that we had great boys and it was nice seeing them in there because it reminded him when he was younger with his parents. I went to the bar and got our tab and my husband was walking out with the kids and pretty much everyone at the bar started saying good bye to the kids. Our youngest didn’t want to leave and the guy that gave them the candy jokingly said something along the lines of «you’ll have to stay with me then» and you could see that my son didn’t mind that idea one bit. Then another man came up and asked if I needed any help. It was great service and nice to see everyone so friendly to my family and I. As I was walking out the gentleman that shook my husband’s hand said«Goodbye mom, have a great night, you have great kids, see you next time». The guy that gave the boys candy also said«see you again soon». It made me feel like when I was younger and would go to places like that with my parents. I felt welcome and would most definitely visit again, with or without my children. On our way home all three of our boys thanked us for bringing them there and asked when we could go back. I am so grateful that we took the«chance» and went there with the kids that night. It was one of our better nights out as a family and I can’t wait to visit there again. Thanks everyone at Big Game for making us feel so welcome and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
