My mom grew up in Shamokin. I haven’t been here in 8 years, but stopping for lunch at Coney Island for an everything burger and real, local-made birch beer is a must! The onions are sweet, the burger juicy, and the chili tangy. Just a smear of mustard and it is the perfect blend. This is a unique burger and a must try! Thanks for staying exactly how you have been for generations, simply perfect!

They don’t do much, but they do it with perfection. Great place to drop in after the bars close.

As good as it was in the 70’s. Glad to see not a thing has changed, except for Lucy being gone. This place is a MUST stop whenever we are in town. Burger and Dog with everything… The sauce is the BEST.

Some don’t like it, but it’s a throwback. Burgers and hot dogs are not gourmet but they don’t need to be here. Short menu– pretty much just burgers and dogs with bottled soda. But if you remember old lunch counters, come here and experience it again.

It’s no wonder this place has been in business since 1918, because their food is legit! My family was from Shamokin and, after only having visited the area as a baby, I have been in the area twice in the last year. I wasn’t wise to this place the first time and after trying it a few weeks ago I am kicking myself for not checking it out on my first trip, as an adult, in September. On my recent trip, we were in town for only two days and went there twice! The food is fast, reasonably priced and really really good. I live in STL and was really excited to drink birch beer, which was a family favorite that I haven’t had since I was a kid. The owner, Coney Bill as I learned from the local paper, seems like a really interesting, awesome guy. He even asked about and complimented my Flaming Lips tattoo on our first trip, which I thought was super cool. This is an old established plaplacece that I’m sure has plenty of regulars, but we were welcomed as though we had been coming there for years. Also, the dining area was like stepping back in time, but in the best possible way in my opinion. I hope they never change it. I had the burger with everything the first day and the dog with everything the second day and was very satisfied with both. It’s probably a good thing I don’t live in the area or I might eat there for every meal! I can’t wait to visit this place again if/when I am in town again. Just eating at Coney Island Lunch alone might be worth the trip!

A Shamokin classic since 1918. Where else can you visit an eatery only once a year and they still remember you and your 40+ year old kids. Best burgers in the state smothered with sauce and sautéed onions.

Always stop when in Shamokin for one up and one down with everything. Wash it down with a crème soda. What an excellent place! Still looks and food tastes as good as it did in early 60’s when in H.S. In Shamokin. Everyone needs to get there when in Shamokin!

An amazing hot dog and hamburger place. Incredibly tasty, not too expensive. Has a bit of an old charm to it as well. I try to visit once a year when I’m in the area. The only thing I miss is the old Mario Brothers arcade game, but the food is still amazing. Very limited menu, but incredibly good at what they do.

A Shamokin landmark that hasn’t changed in generations and why would you want it to. A hamburger with everything and cheese is the best way I found to order, then wash it down with a Big Ben’s soda. Stop in at Christmas time to see the amazing tree that is put up every year.

Totally retro fun place to have a bite to eat. I visited here as a kid and umpteen years later it is still a great place and worth the trip from Washingon, dC.

I’m from Philly and I was traveling around the Coal Region and someone suggested that getting a hot dog at Coney Island was the thing to do in Shamokin. I admit I’m a great frankfurter fan. Well, I wasn’t disappointed. At the owner’s suggestion I tried one«with the works» … and it was great!!! I think a hundred mile trip from Philly is worth a hot dog from Coney Island!!! The place is a bit old and run down — very ‘blue collar’ or more precisely ‘anthracite coal miner’! — but that adds to the charm!

Such an awesome little hole in the wall. I always go there when visiting family. Birch beer and a burger. This place has some character.

Perhaps one of the only true original landmarks left in Shamokin and still the best burgers around! They still don’t serve fries! You can get«one up» and«one down» with a cup of coffee, Big Ben’s soda, or chocolate milk for about $ 5.00. Everything at «The Coney» has remained in its original state since the restaurant opened decades ago
