Great ribs and very reasonable prices. No frills kind of place– we got ribs and shrimp scampi both were very good. Would definitely come back if in the area again.

There really aren’t many places around the Cooperstown area to get food, but I dug this place. Had ribs, which were surprisingly good. Moderately priced dive with friendly service — basically everything you’d expect from a small upstate town, and not much more.

My spouse and I are local snowmobilers who decided to take a ride out check out this restaurant– it’s rare to find a place to eat and warm up on the sled trail. The ambiance is as other reviewers described– nothing special about the cramped dining area. The food was okay, the service was lukewarm– we are local but were treated like we were from the city, we felt like outsiders. The bill total felt like I was in nyc. $ 10 for a rail drink. Ridiculous. We’ll be sticking to the Worcester sled trails and support Jack’s– excellent service and great food there!

Five stars because it’s far and away the best food in the area. Simple but well-prepared meats and fish, and great value for the buck. I’m pretty sure they’ve redecorated recently — the place used to seem dark and close, but now it’s a cheerful white-walled space with white tablecloths — simple but sparkling and welcoming. The ribeye is remarkable — great flavor, tender and perfectly cooked. Sides are great, and generous. It can seem crowded, because folks like to come there, but it’s not close, and the noise level is tolerable. Simply a great country tavern, and I look forward to going there whenever I visit the region.

This is our«go to» place. I always tell everyone that you can get burgers to salmon, and its all good! My wife loves the shrimp scampi because they take the tails off of the shrimp. I have tried nearly everything on their extensive menu and loved them all.

The locals seem to love this place. However, maybe it wasn’t running on all cylinders the night we visited, because it was only just OK for us. It is very crowded, and when you walk in the front door, you are immediately in the dining area. It is very loud and when we were there, it was unbelievably hot! We ordered the sampler platter, but everything came out looking exactly the same color of brown. The containers of sour cream reminded us of what you might get at a fast food drive– through. I got the steak, and it tasted good, but was similar to what you might get at any of the steakhouse chains anywhere. We couldn’t wait to finish and get outside where it was cooler. The décor was eclectic, to say the least. Lighted strings of plastic grapes were by the windows, a stuffed bobcat(?) with a Cheers sign under his belly was on the mantle, and an inefficient room air conditioner was running in the corner. Lighting was the beer sign faux-Tiffany lamps you often find hanging over pool tables. The servers were very nice, however. We failed to see why over and over locals said it was their favorite spot, so maybe it was just a bad night that we stopped in. Considering what we paid, we expected much better.

I’ve eaten here twice and have never been disappointed. The food was great.

The atmosphere makes me think of the 80s movie The Great Outdoors, when John Candy was at that restaurant trying to eat the 90 oz steak so they didn’t have to pay for the meal, and the scary chef comes out with blood smeared all over his apron and makes him eat the gristle too. Yum. The parking lot looks like someone’s driveway. That said, the food wasn’t bad. The fried stuff was a bit too fried. At least it was semi-unique — fried green beans. Although maybe it’s not unique anymore once TGI Fridays has done it. In any case, my tuna was pretty decent although a bit overcooked, and the wild rice was quite good. I would go back, but it’s not my first choice in the area.

Great Italian food, fresh and made to order. Pizza is awesome! Wings are the best in county! If you can’t find something to eat on their menu, you are CRAZY!
