Yum. One of my fave places in the back mountain! Dark, cozy, and classy are my 3 words to describe this place. Dishes are a nice size — bread with hummus, & butter is delicious that comes out standard. Just to note on the pricier side as well.

This was our first time trying this restaurant and we will definitely not be coming back. We went on a Saturday night so we knew it would be busy, however, any successful restaurant is capable of handling a busy Saturday night. Our experience started with only one menu for the two of us to share. We were told that they would get us a second one but they seemed to have forgotten. That’s nothing major but in the end, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. Our waitress took 7 minutes to come and get our drink order of water. She didn’t ask if we wanted appetizers at that time but instead came back after another 10 minutes to finally take that order. I ordered the Mardi Gras chips which had SO much potential to be good but half way through the plate, there was so much grease that the chips were soggy and the whole thing was a bit disgusting tasting from all the grease. My husband had a flat bread pizza which was just okay. The salads were very normal with way too much dressing. For our main course, I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which was good. I’ve had better, but it definitely held its own. My husband got the chicken parm which was not worth eating. It was mushy, the breading wasn’t sticking on the chicken and it was one incredibly flat, small piece of chicken… for $ 20. The manager came over to ask how our meal was and when we expressed our concerns, he apologized and said he would do something for us. We ordered dessert, which is insanely tiny and when we got our check, the dessert was comp’d. Unfortunately the manager didn’t take credit for what he had done before we left but I shouldn’t be surprised. On a positive note, the bread IS really good! We definitely won’t be back and would advise anyone to eat there hesitantly. If there are no other restaurants open and you are starving, stop. Otherwise, drive 10 minutes in either direction and you’ll be more satisfied.

Fire and Ice is absolutely amazing! I held my sister’s bridal shower there last weekend and everything was perfect! Gary, who is the chef and owner was beyond great and so helpful throughout the entire process of planning! The day of could not have gone more smoothly with all the help of his staff and the set up of our area. But probably the best part of the whole day was he amazing food! If you are planning a private event a MUSTHAVE are the banana foster french toast! All of the guests were raving about the food and many ended up buying and bringing home their home made bread. I can’t thank Gary and his staff enough for such a great day, my sister could not have been more happy with the whole day!

First off, that bread tho. Warm, soft bread straight out of the oven and served with a delicious sweet butter we couldn’t stop raving about and a really on point hummus. They have a pretty expansive cocktail list and I’m a sucker for a good rum drink, so I ordered the rumrunner. Unfortunately, I had to send it back(tall tropical glass and all) because whatever banana liqueur they put in it was so off-putting, like it tasted like that 99 Bananas perfumey shit. Just a matter of preference, really. Our friendly server was happy to send it back free of charge and I got a Corona instead. Their food menu is also really expansive– it was so hard to land on just one thing. Everything sounded amazing and I’m still kicking myself for not ordering the Guinness short rib sandwich and fries. My cousin recommended the fried calamari for a starter and let me tell you, that was some of the best I’ve ever had(at least in my top 3). Super crunchy, but not overdone– it was a light bread coating so the squid could hold its own. Whatever aioli was presented in each corner of the plate was so good and though the mess of spinach and tomatoes and mozzarella on top looked unappetizing, it was extremely delicious– almost like a Mediterranean style. Again, this is was half the reason I could barely eat my entrée– this could be a meal in itself. The one clam I tried off her plate was tasty and simmering in a lemony, buttery broth. The salads were really, really awesome. I was hesitant to order their signature orange cognac salad cause I was afraid the orange would be overpowering like an orange-flavored fluoride at the dentist. I was very wrong indeed. This salad was bangin’- hearty chunks of gorgonzola, dried cranberries and candied walnuts all covered in that perfectly tart, citrusy dressing. As for the entrée, it wasn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t as good as it could have been. I ordered the well marbled angus NY strip steak(medium rare) with the blue cheese whipped butter and what I thought the waitress said was seasonal mixed vegetables on the side. I received the steak medium on the right side, gradually turning into medium-well on the left. The blue cheese butter was absolutely delicious and the edges of the steak were perfectly grilled to render out the fat, I’ll give them that, but the sides were just an underwhelming roasted red pepper mashed potato and a few pieces of squash and hard-to-eat stringy broccoli stems. On a related note, my mom ordered her burger medium and got it almost rare to medium rare, though the outside was charred. Overall, the place could step up their game in presentation(everything was kinda messy looking or haphazardly thrown together), though I’d definitely return once I’m back in the area, since the appetizers and salads were stellar and there’s such a varied menu.

Best cheeseburger you’ll ever have. We go here for lunch regularly. The burger is amazing. Better than you’ll have ANYWHERE else. All burgers are now compared to this one. And always fall short as not being a fire and ice burger. The soups are also amazing. Anything the chef calls bisque get. Don’t worry about anything else even if it’s veggies you don’t like. It’ll be delicious. EVERYTIME!!! Lunch soup and salad bar is perfect and delicious. Service is hit or miss with speed, but they are alway friendly and the food is worth the wait.

Everything was amazing from start to finish. The homemade bread with butter and garlic hummus was great. Salads were delish. Soup sampler was amazing. And the steaks were to die for. The service was also excellent.

They catered my wedding and did an absolutely amazing job! Everyone RAVED about the food and«ooo-ed» & aww-ed” the whole dinner. They were also a dream to work with. Very accommodating and helpful with things I didn’t even think of! Thank you! Highly recommend!

Went to dinner one night with the hubs to try it out. Food was ok. I ordered the margarita flatbread which was not a flatbread at all. It came out as a round pizza and not anything to write home about. I expected a true flatbread pizza. The Caesar salad was very good and the citrusy dressing for that was perfect. Bread was good and fresh. For dessert, I had the snickers cake which was also pretty good. We will go back but would not order the flatbread pizza again. Service was good but not as prompt with the check and waitress was hard to find when we wanted to leave.

Food was good, not great, though the pilaf was mushy and tasted like a box kit. Service was good and price reasonable. I like the old piano bar set up a little better. I’d go again but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Fire and Ice has been my best dining experience in the area. The restaurant was a bit tucked away, and our GPS was clueless. But once we found it we sat outside on the patio(between garden and parking lot) on a lovely summer’s evening. Our server was friendly and efficient. Serving both Hummas and honey butter with the bread as an option was a nice start– I don’t do dairy and this was a good solution. The stuffed shrimp was wonderful– that sweet sauce really made it interesting, and there were giant chunks of lobster claw meat on the plate. The salad with cranberries was nice– the greens were crispy and fresh, and the orange cognac dressing was delicious(warning– does contain egg, and the server didn’t seem to know much about the ingredients in the food. I only mention this because the menu specifically indicates that they are prepared to meet diner’s dietary needs). We split the Crab/lobster cake and the salmon entrees. My friend preferred the crab cake which was served with rice and chef’s vegetables. I though the vegetables ere overcooked and the rice bland, but she can eat dairy, so everything probably improved with the aioli which comes with the dish. I thought the almond crusted salmon with quinoa, arugula and fresh raspberries was really delicious — perfectly cooked, great flavors, fresh and light. Will definitely visit again.

We used Fire and Ice for our rehearsal dinner and to cater our wedding– and kudos to Sandy and Chef Gary! Coming from NYC, I was a bit nervous since I didn’t know any place in the area, but once we signed on with Fire and Ice we had nothing to worry about. All of our guests couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was(especially the Mac and cheese) — which doesn’t surprise me as we have never had a bad meal at Fire and Ice. Sandy did an amazing job coordinating not just her side, but helping me plan out the wedding as well. Her expertise and knowledge made the day of the wedding(and days leading up to it) stress free. Also, her staff did a great job making sure they always stopped by to see how I was doing and if I wanted more appetizers(which obviously I did). If you are getting married in the area, I highly recommend catering from Fire and Ice! We can’t wait to come back!

I’ve ate at a lot of restaurants in the area and fire and ice has the best food. Went there with the extended family for dinner and after tasting a little bit of everything, I can’t wait to go there again. Food portions were above average and the environment is excellent! Highly recommend the calamari

Really terrible experience. Several times steaks have come out raw when asked for med rare. Waiter and manager assert they temp their steaks differently. Complained and received a $ 25 gift card, but won’t be back. Both waiter and manager tried to make me feel like I have no clue how steak temps work. Have never had an issue like this at other«fine dining» establishments.

We ended up at Fire & Ice not necessarily out of a desire to dine there but instead because we needed to hold an after-funeral luncheon. We live in Seattle and were planning a relative’s funeral in Kingston. Not having been in the area or dined at local restaurants in a number of years, we really weren’t familiar with what was good or bad any longer. Some friends recommended Kevin’s in Kingston, but they weren’t able to accommodate us for the time frame we needed. However, the person with whom we spoke at Kevin’s recommended that we call Fire & Ice, as it is also good. So, we did. And we’re happy that we did. The gentleman with whom we spoke couldn’t have been nicer in working with us to plan a menu that worked. They actually have a funeral luncheon menu on their web site with notably lower costs than their standard menu, as they are not in the funeral luncheon business to necessarily make a profit as much as they are to help grieving families. We worked with them to upscale the menu a bit — adding a few dollars per person to each meal, but the price was still, in our opinion, very reasonable. And, the food? It was great. We provided three options to our guests: steak tips, a breaded chicken dish(sorry, don’t recall the name) and salad nicoise. Each was great, and the soup, salad and dessert were also very good. They accommodated our party of 21 in the back room, but if more had shown up — because you really don’t know the party size when planning one of these events — they would have been able to quickly expand us out into the small adjoining room. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience dealing with Fire & Ice and holding our lunch there. We can highly recommend the restaurant and the experience.

Amazing bread and dips. Drinks are usually decent. Some of the entrees aren’t as amazing as they sound, usually a little flat. Staff is nice. Really small menu.

This review is primarily for their special events services, but I do have to say that the other times I have visited Fire & Ice for dinner or lunch, the service was always impeccable. As the MOH for my sister’s wedding(and my first time with such an honor), it was seriously wonderful how accomodating and helpful Sandy(the owner) was with scheduling this shower. We changed a few things here and there before the date arrived, and each time Sandy answered my questions and was prompt to let me know that the changes were accepted. When the date finally arrived, my mom, the bridesmaids, and I decorated the back room with the help of our server, John, who was dedicated to our party. He helped from start to finish, and we wanted for absolutely nothing. He was beyond attentive and very helpful throughout the process — you can tell he’s done showers before because he knew exactly how the schedule(games, food, arrival of the groom) was going to go; we didn’t even need to fill him in. If you schedule a party, I would VERYMUCH recommend requesting his services, because he was really fantastic. The food(paninis, sweet potato fries, salad, hummus, etc.) was excellent. Everyone was raving about the food, and I think we got a great deal, because other places have a comparable price point with less desirable food items/atmosphere. The bride was especially pleased with the sweet potato fries and maple dipping sauce. She gushed about them, and the entire bridal table agreed that they were amazing. Everything went very smoothly, and my sister was very happy. Thanks to Sandy, John, and Fire & ice for making the day so special for us!

Special Event(baby shower) Review: I walked into a chaotic scene a bit late. What happened was a baby shower was scheduled to begin at noon, but when the hostess arrived at the restaurant at 11AM to set up, it was CLOSED and no one was inside. After multiple frantic(unanswered) calls and texts to the owner and the event planner, it was discovered that they forgot about the event. Fast forward an hour later they had finally sent someone to open up and begin cooking the food and serving drinks. Of course at this point, nothing was on time. I was impressed with how fast they did get everything ready. I suspect that some of the servers were not in fact regular servers, but random people called in to work there. The food was pretty tasty, considering, with a nice selection of vegetarian options. The hostess was beyond upset for the entire shower and this slip up ruined the day for both her and her family. Think twice before scheduling your special event at this venue, it could end up being a stressful nightmare.

This is becoming one of my favorite dinner spots at home, and I got my parents hooked too. We always get a bottle of Riesling to start as we devour all the free bread that is served with some kind of(delicious) flavored butter and hummus. My favorites on the menu are: french onion soup, calamari(holy hell, so effing good), and all the risotto I can eat before wanting to vom. Love love love love!
