Great bakery items. Get there early because they are very popular and once they run out, they close.

Oh the childhood memories of sneaking off the bus a few stops before the middle school drop off and bolting off to Bult’s. They serve locally made Sun Drop in the glass bottle(I promise it is better that way) and they have the best cream filled chocolate donuts.

Bult’s Bakery is that small town gem you see in film frequented by the likes of Barney Fife, but that you never expect to find in reality. As a child I fondly remember entering through the back entrance(what was then Melberg’s Bakery) with my mom, walking through the kitchen and seeing the bakers hard at work, and then sidling up to the counter for a fluffy, chocolate cream filled donut. Now, of course, health codes are in place to keep the customers out of food prep areas, but that doesn’t mean Bult’s doesn’t still have that up-close-and-personal charm. Come on a Saturday morning and swap tales with Shawano’s seasoned citizens over a cup of coffee, or stop in after school for a sugar-coma inducing snack of a donut and can of SunDrop(remember when you were young enough to eat like that and never gain a pound?). The best that Bult’s has to offer, in my estimation, is their Raspberry Rainbow cake. A concotion of four levels of multi-colored cake interspersed with raspberry jelly and frosted to hide the surprise inside, this dessert is a sure-fire birthday crowd pleaser.

Great for warm, cheap doughnuts and fresh coffee. Has a very small-town atmosphere. Several varieties of standard doughnuts, as well as a great side selection of cookies(Spongebob Squarepants made from Rice Krispie treats) Try the white cream-filled topped with coconut. Yum.
