The Sandbar

The Sandbar Bar, my parents local hang out for Wisconsin Friday night cod fish fry’s. Over the years they have redone the interior and changed some of the menu pricing of this classic Wisconsin dive bar, but not much else has changed. The food is probably the best bar food in the area, and the prices can not be beat. The staff is friendly and open to regulars and tourists alike (which is sometimes hard to find in the area). The Sandbar is busy and usually understaffed for the peak times, don’t come on a busy night if your in a hurry! The only thing is wish they would add is outdoor seating or a deck to enjoy the view of the lake in the summer months! The top three you must have here are: The Sandbar Burger and fries, The Garlic Parmesan Wrap, and any of the Fish Fry’s. Their daily specials are usually fantastic too!
Oh and its INCREDIBLY cheap to drink here, especially if your drinking bottle beer or rails. This bar will always have a little piece of my heart, its a must stop in Shawano/​Cecil.

My new local when I’m up north. It’s a nice little bar down the street on the lake. I haven’t eaten there but I have drank there. I was drinking grey goose and redbulls (it was a long day) and I believe they were $ 5. Same with tall Captain and Cokes. The bartendress was fantastic and gorgeous to boot and the patrons were a lot of fun. All in all a great place.

I used to visit this area in the 40’s and the bar was called The Washington Resort. The bar food used to be really good. We were going through the area so we decided to stop. It was a surprise to see the building was still standing but, a new name. We decided to stop and have lunch. They had a fish sandwich on the menu so I asked, what kind of fish? The lady behind the bar said I don’t know, it’s some kind of frozen fish! Oh! It came with a side of fries or potato salad. I said I’ll have the ps and she says sorry our cook hasn’t made any yet you’ll have to have the fries. Well, at least the fish was good. The locals probably think this place is great but, I’m glad I don’t have to go back.
