The wife and I ate lunch with our son today at Johnny’s Tavern on Shawnee Mission Parkway. This was my first experience at a JT and I will say it was pretty good. I had Fish and Chips which was pretty good. Portions were more than ample enough for two meals for me. I did think the bill was a little pricy for a lunch tab with only two beers on it, $ 50! I would go back the place was nice, fully staffed and clean.

Good lunch, buy 1 get 1 free burgers on Thursday made for an inexpensive and tasty lunch. The burger itself isn’t anything to write home about; relatively small patty, cooked to a well done status, saved by cheese, egg, and bacon. The winner was the sweet potato fries with the dijon horseradish sauce. Not a huge horseradish fan, but this stuff was mild and incredibly savory(I think worcestershire sauce was involved). Service was quick and friendly even though they were fairly busy. Might have to add this place to the lunch rotation.

Food was great, servers were great, tvs were great! I had street tacos and would recommend. The ranch sauce with the salsa on top was awesome. My friend ordered us miller lite bottles when we first got there but I would recommend choosing from the drink specials. Ask for it if it is not already at your table. Sat at the bar and servers were very friendly even to the super drunk people… which is the only reason I gave them a 4⁄5 the drunk middle-aged guys who could barely stand made it hard to fully enjoy. Not there fault. Will return!

I am giving them 5 stars because the environment is great. I love the patio seating outdoors, and there are lots of TVs to watch the game. Nice bar. Good menu selection, including pizza.

We were in town to see our Daughter and watch the Royals second game of the World Series. My wife had the egg burger and I had the pork chop dinner. Both our meals were cooked perfectly and was very good. Service was a little slow but it was it was a full house and they did apologies but they didn’t need too. We will back in the near future, it was that good.

I was just in this restaurant. Waited 15 minutes for a waitress. Two other patrons in our section were waited on. I went and told the hostess. Waited another 5 minutes. Still no waitress! This is the second time this has happened. Will not be going back!!!

Thursday night Two for One burger deal is one of our favorites! Hot Cap burger with breaded sliced jalapeños, and many other creative options makes adding the fry/ring combo a hit every time. Pizza is good, w/big slices. Pretzel appetizer has great sauce. Beer specials with local variety. Lots of sports to watch. Service normally good and friendly but at times need more check-ins and refills.

We have been to Johnnys several times and always enjoy it. Lots of TVs to watch sports, good beer on draft and solid bar food. Their wings are a favorite of mine. The last time we were there we had a large group. It was a busy Friday night but they were still very accommodating to the people from our group who showed up late and we had great service. Excellent experience.

Spilt the chicken nachos and a pale ale mustard and guacamole burger. Chicken was a little dry and chips were soggy. Do not recommend them. Burger was good. The bun was delicious. Perfect amount of bacon and guacamole. I’m a mustard fan so I hoped there would have been more mustard. All in all food was just okay. Guess it’s more about the ambiance and beer.

Johnny’s is a great place to catch a game or grab a drink after work. I watched game five of the World Series here, and I was very impressed with how prepared they were. They were fully staffed, the servers and food runners were on their game, and there are plenty of tvs and good sound. As far as food goes, it’s your run of the mill bar food. I’m not a fan of their pizza or burgers, but the pepper jack bites are awesome, and the wings aren’t bad. Overall, not a bad spot.

Out to cater to the Johnson County stereotypical d-bags, this place is a great meat market to find that shallow, golddigging, stuck-up plastic barbie. Dont forget to wear your Affliction or Tap-Out shirt, size smedium to show those glamour muscles you focus on. With beauty over brains as a standard here, the staff is following this criteria perfectly. Service priority is focused on who appears to have the money, and quite judgmental on those not wearing the whitecollar attire. A friend and I sat at the bar and watched the glares from the bartenders. Was it maybe disgust because we had beards? Was it maybe superiority because we were working class? It was probably both, mixed in with some pretentiousness and a predisposition in labeling us. The rest of the bar is packed in with clientele that looks like a brood of chickens all swiveling their heads around gawking at one another. It’s a sight to see; but it’s not what would be considered a real bar, because it’s not filled with real people.

My experience was that of a typical bar. Bartenders were rushed and wanted to take my order and get it out. I understand that, it’s a busy bar on a Friday night. We were got our food, burgers were a little dry, is what it is. Meal was winding down and my wife had leftover onion rings that I was working on. We paid the bill and I was still working away on the onion rings. Out of no where one of the bartenders grabbed the leftover food I was eating and took it away. Should have at least asked before they threw my food away, hence the 2 star review.

We frequent Johnny’s about once every two weeks. We’ve had good experiences every time. My only complaint would service. The service has always been a little slow. It takes a while to order food and to get it on the table. But the flavor is consistent… So that’s good. Other than that. It has great atmosphere, the beer is cold and the grill is hot.

I come to Johnny’s for three reasons: 1. Grace 2. Grace 3. Grace It’s close to my house, foods good and drinks are reasonable, but I come to Johnny’s in Shawnee because they employee Grace.

This place is a little too commercial for me but they were the only ones that corn beef & hash. Not that big of beer selection but hard liqueurs are pleasant. Staff was attentive and food was timed perfectly so I would be back again.

First of all, if you’ve been to one Johnny’s and enjoyed the food, this one will be no exception. They have a nice, varied menu, and no matter the location, I’ve always been happy with what I’ve gotten. I’m actually writing this review to call out the fact that we recently brought a party of 25 here, and they handled us extremely well. The only blip was when we started sitting down at the tables they had put together for us(I had called ahead about a week before to make sure they could accommodate the group) and we were a little squished. They were very nice about adding another table, and everything from there went swimmingly. The service was very punctual and they kept up with us even with staggered arrivals. All of the food arrived promptly, and everyone was really happy with what they had ordered. Thanks to Johnny’s for making our lunch out go so well!

There’s a salad(I know it’s a bar, but no joke) and it’s the most amazing salad ever. Apple Walnut Crunch… get it with grilled chicken PLUS bacon… with the standard raspberry vinegarette and the Blue cheese… I’m hard pressed to not get this when it’s been awhile and I walk in. Johnny’s celebrates their new location across the street from their old one on Shawnee Mission Parkway with a huge space and that same classic Johnny’s look and feel. Natalie(who has come to this location from the Power and Light) is a gem sincerely asking how service and food quality was. If you’re not getting taken care of on a trip here, get a manager people! They never fail to right the ship for me. From a waitress that knows what a «Baby Zone» is…(not setting drinks down in front of a 10 month old) to spelling if my kids can have their complementary I-C-E C-R-E-A-M I can’t say enough. Did the gal last night not know how to multitask? Sure… let the manager know and she’ll have her work on it. Pizza crust was a little well done for me last night but the BBQ Chicken Lawrence style itself was out of this world… I just left the crust on the plate. It was an $ 8.50 half priced pizza on a Monday night people! My bill was $ 24.00 with sodas for kids, 2 kids meals, chips and salsa … you can’t go wrong. Get that salad NOW! Ask for a steak knife, those apples can’t be cut with a butter knife…

Ahhh, I enjoy eating at Johnny’s…just not this one. That makes me sad, since it’s close to where I’m often at. We waited over 5 minutes for the waitress to get up from her conversation at the(non-working) fire pit with 2 customers to come over and ask us if we’d been helped. Not ‘hello’, not ‘can I help you’, just…‘you been helped’?(She had to have seen us sit down. The sign at the front says ‘please see hostess for patio seating. Well, no hostess anywhere to be found, or an employee, so we seated ourselves.) Ummmm, okay… So I asked about specials and she rattled some off and said, ‘is that what you wanted to know, or do you want to know drink specials too?’ Well, I barely caught the food specials, but sure, let’s hear the drink specials too. Again… Waaaaay too fast to keep up. We decided to get some water and look at the menu. I decided to check out their website to find out what the specials were. A different waitress returned with the water after a few minutes, slammed it onto the table and took off quickly. Hello? Can we order some food? I guess not! We’d been here for over 15 minutes now, and only had water, menus and bad attitude from the staff to show for it. That’s more than fair enough to wait. I won’t beg people to take my money, no matter how hungry I am. The waitress was visiting with another table that came in much after we did, and a bartender was visiting with a group of customers. I handed our menus to him on the way out, and told him we’d been there for 15 minutes with no service other than water and we were leaving. He didn’t apologize or anything, or offer to help. Wait… he did offer to help in one way: I asked if we could go out the gate(sometimes they are locked) from the patio, and he went to open it for us. Wow… To be fair: I did call the restaurant a day later to let the manager know of this ‘visit’ and spoke with ‘Jeff’, perhaps not the manager overall, but the one on duty. He offered me a small(especially compared to what we planned to spend) giftcard for my trouble and apologized. The time and trouble for the small(one person/lunch at best) giftcard wasn’t worth it for me. I hadn’t called in order to receive any compensation, but just to let them know what happened.

Great for a casual night out. We came on a Monday and sat on the patio. I wouldn’t recommend sitting out there if you’re not a smoker, as obviously all the smokers sat outside. but, the AC was a little too cranked up inside, so I guess it’s all about compromises. Since it was Monday we took advantage of their $ 1 beef tacos($ 2 for chicken) and they were AMAZING. Seriously some of the best basic tacos I’ve ever had. I also had a $ 4 margarita(served in a pint glass) and it was great too. We had good service and enjoyed watching the Royals game on TV. I would definitely come back, except maybe not sit outside with smokers. However, that would mean I’d probably need to bring a jacket to face the arctic temps inside.
