I’d eaten here before and really enjoyed it. This time, however, made me think twice about going back again. I arrived with the lunch crowd on a Saturday, and since the booths were all taken, I had to sit alone at a big table in the middle of the room. When I pointed initially to a table more out of the way, I was told«We don’t seat people there.» No explanation. Oooooookay. My mango bubble tea was brought right away, but I had to wait awhile for my water. I ordered the tempura shrimp and the seafood soup with cellophane noodles, after making sure it wasn’t spicy.(I explained I don’t like spicy food.) The shrimp was not tempura, just regular fried shrimp you’d find in any buffet. But it came with a bowl of sauce loaded with hot red pepper pieces. When I managed to flag down the waitress & point this out, she said that was the only sauce they had. Really? Hmmm. I told her I’d just use the Hoisin sauce on the table. The soup came, and it was pretty darn good(Yay!). It did have jalapeños on the dish along with the bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, and lime, but oh, well. A waste, though. The soup included several whole tail-on shrimp. Call me picky, but I dislike having to put my fingers in the soup to remove shrimp tails. My single paper napkin needed to be replaced in the middle of the meal, but I had to wait until I got the check before I could tell my waitress; she never came back to see how the food was or if I needed anything. I had to wait awhile(about 10 minutes), looking around with my finger in the air, to get my check. Then it was another 10 – 15 minutes before my credit card was processed before I could sign it. The restaurant wasn’t that crowded by then. My biggest complaint was of the service, and not the food. But the poor service did kind of ruin the experience. I really love phở, and had been looking forward to making the long drive out to Shawnee. When the waitress returned & told me she’d have to charge me extra for putting a small amount on my credit card(I had a Groupon), well, that was it for me. I broke my cardinal rule and left a small tip. And I didn’t feel one bit bad about it.

This is my favorite place to get phở, I almost always order a small #101, raw beef on the side, so that I can decide how cooked I want the meat, and I order the meat rolls(#4) with fish sauce that they bring you(add sriracha for spiciness). I love how they keep pure fish sauce on the table(it’s inside a reduced sodium soy sauce container) and ground pepper, as those, along with lime and cilantro are the things I like to add to my broth. Their combination vermicelli is also a favorite, I get it without bean sprouts and nuts, add the accompanied fish sauce and some sriracha and I’m good to go! And it makes for good leftovers, I usually eat it cold. Vietnamese iced coffee is a good choice and the taro bubble tea minus the bubbles is very good.

In my opinion, this is one of the best Phở places in KC. I wish I could give the place 3.5 or 3.75 stars. The service leaves a bit to be desired, so that’s why I took some points off. The phở is very flavorful, and Phở Good has some of the best phở broth in the city. There is also plenty of meat in the bowl and you will not be lacking in things to add to your soup. Everything seems fresh and the place is clean. I will definitely be back for some more lunches!

This place is the best! Myself and several people from work frequent here for lunch. The spring rolls(#2) and phở with sliced beef(#101) is always delicious, along with fast and friendly service. Definitely recommend going here if you’re in the area!

Good phở, closest to my area. I come rather often. I love Vietnamese eggrolls and I’m used to a platter of 4 served with leaf lettuce and cucumbers. They just give u two pieces and sauce. I usually just ask for the lettuce and cucumbers. :) I haven’t tried the other places, they are a bit distant for me to try. But this place is great!

Wow! What a difference two years can make! My last review was posted mid 2013. Today’s take out lunch was enough of a 360 turn that I felt it so necessary to update my review and stars. I was headed home and waiting at a stoplight and it came to me, «I want some soup!» I look up — and I got Phở Good all in my face! I stop in and I’m out in less than five minutes. I’m not sure what’s happened here, but the broth here today… FIVESTARBROTH! So why not five stars? Two words — «krab», and stems. Overall my phở today was very delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful. This was the broth that comes to mind when I think phở. The chili sauce, lime and fresh cilantro where the perfect accompaniment. I wish the cilantro where leaves or tops only. The stems can be tough. I’ll be back for lunch again soon.

Every meal I have had here is amazingly delicious. I always get the phở, so I can’t say if the other dishes are as tasty, but I would assume they probably are great too. The environment is very relaxed, they have bubble tea(yum!), and the service has always been great. It’s really good for lunch, since everything is prepared quickly and there is lots of seating so you are never cramped. If you haven’t ever had phở, but are wanting to try it, I would definitely recommend popping your phở cherry here!

They do a solid Phở broth here and I enjoyed the combination Phở very much. Plenty of food in the bowl and on the plate for garnish. They don’t give you any nasty looking basil here either. I actually got nice basil and cilantro… I love both. Service is very relaxed and casual.

I am being generous by giving them 3 starts, the food was not really as good as I expected. I guess it is not«Phở Good»

I really love this place. They have groupons all the time which I why I go. It’s cheap and delicious with decent size servings. When I went there the first time I was a little hesitant because I’ve never had Phở before and the place is a little hole in the wall and there was barely anyone there. I’m glad I went because it is my favorite place to grab Phở. I highly recommend it!

I didn’t know Phở so I was glad when a friend suggested we meet there. I had the soup with shrimp and chicken. Really nice flavors, served hot in a big bowl. They also bring a bowl of greens and bean spouts to add to your soup if you care to along with some fresh lime slices. I think the other options include(if one doesn’t choose the soup) having the meal with rice or with noodles. We also enjoyed the spring rolls. I was surprised they are served chilled rather than warm but they were good nevertheless. I don’t know if there is a certain way to eat the soup with the long, clear noodles without looking completely uncouth? If there is, I don’t know it but it was yummy & warm. I’ll look forward to trying other items.

Thanks to groupon, we tried a new place for phở. The first time we went, everything was great! The phở was delicious and the spring rolls were tasty as well. Next time we went, the food was still great, but the service wasn’t as fantastic. It’s probably one of the best in the city, so we will definitely be back!

I can only write about their pork spring rolls and regular spring rolls. They were missing a ton of veggies in their spring rolls. It literally only came with shrimp, noodles, and lettuce. The pork meat ball spring rolls came with just pork, noodles and lettuce. No bean sprouts, cucumber or anything else. The dipping sauce was super heavy with peanut. Didn’t bother me but my friend didn’t like it. I saw that another reviewer wrote that the dipping sauce was heavy on hoisin, maybe they tried to correct it based on their review and went overboard with the peanut. Anyways, I may go back and try their phở. I will never get their spring rolls again.

If you like small, quiet restaurants this is your place. I have been here twice and both times there has been a total 8 people there. I have the phở soup and just love the fresh ingredients that they give to me. The spring rolls and dipping sauce is refreshing as well. Since the crowd is usually light expect friendly service. they really do try to make your experience pleasant.

My first KC Phở experience was a success! I had a long day of apartment hunting, yet a fruitful one. The boyfriend and I wanted to have a lunch celebration, and agreed to try some nearby Phở. Our first time having Phở was in a place in Raleigh, North Carolina called Phở Far East. It was a really amazing place run by a dedicated Vietnamese family. This place really set our Phở expectations high. We had Phở a few other places that were always disappointing. Well, I have to say, we finally had some good Phở at Phở Good. When we first walked in, I noticed the place was decorated simply, like any other Vietnamese place I’ve been. When we headed to our booth, we both noticed a very strong, funky smell. The only word to describe it is «funk»…like a combination of strong bleach cleaner and an old musty attic. I hoped I would desensitize to the smell… which I did, but it was a bit of a deterrent at first. Our experience improved after the«funky» welcome. We both ordered the Phở with meatballs and sirloin beef. I also ordered some coffee. The coffee came out first, but it did not«wow» me. I would not order it again. Our food came out very quickly as well, with the usual accompaniments(basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos). I first tasted the broth, and it was delicious! The broth at other places often disappointed me. But here at Phở Good, it was very flavorful and delicious. The meat was very tender as well, and noodles were cooked perfectly. I was very pleased with our meal and the warm service. I look forward to returning!

Phở is one of my most favorite meals ever and I am such a regular at another Kansas City Vietnamese restaurant that they know me by name. No seriously I have eaten there an average of 2 – 6 times a month for the past 7 years. As a recent transplant to JoCo I was excited to find a Vietnamese place near my house! The phở is good, but not the best. The broth is not as flavorful as I would like. The spring rolls and egg rolls are pretty excellent. I hate to be that person that makes a special request at a restaurant and then complains about it, but… at my favorite phở place I order mine with additional vegetables, and they add broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and cabbage for an additional charge. Delicious! Here when I ask for that, they add broccoli and carrots, but each time they have been severely undercooked — almost raw. It seems as though they throw the veggies on right before they add the broth, whereas the other place definitely cooks them a little bit so they’re not so incredibly crunchy. Requesting them to cook them longer is just a bit too much special request for me though, so in the future I’ll just order it as it comes. In short, the place is good and I will eat there again! But, I know it could be way better.

Phở Good makes a great bowl of phở, and it’s a worthwhile stop for phở lovers. I have a dirty little secret. I cheated on my wife. Not in the traditional way, but I cheated on her heart by eating at Phở Good by myself. I don’t regret it, but I’ll probably have to bring her along sometime soon. I’d often seen Phở Good off in the little strip mall on the side of Shawnee Mission Parkway and been intrigued by it. Usually, a Vietnamese restaurant will go with a generalized name that indicates its cuisine — The Orient, Little Saigon, Viet-Nam Café. In contrast, Phở Good wears its name on its sleeve, touting not only that it served phở, but also that its phở is «Good». One day I was passing by around lunchtime and I had some time to stop in and see if they were accurately named. They were correct. Much like a Tardis, Phở Good is bigger on the inside. The shop looks small and unassuming in the strip mall, but the inside has walls lined with booths, and several medium and large tables in the middle. I snagged a booth and ordered a bowl of beef phở and a Vietnamese coffee. The phở arrived in a big steaming bowl accompanied by a plate of basil, hot peppers, bean sprouts, and a lime wedge. I shredded the basil leaves, added the beansprouts, squeezed the lime, and added the pepper and went at it. I must say that the broth was great — very flavorful and rich despite being a clear broth. The pieces of beef were good sized for eating in a single bite, and the noodles capped it all off to make it a great dish. I tried to be as coordinated as I could by managing both the chopsticks and the spoon, but I suppose that to the other diners I probably looked like a hunchback crouched over a bowl of soup, doing his damndest to get noodles and broth to his mouth as quick as possible. I don’t care what anyone else thought, I was going full-bore for me. The coffee was also fantastic. It had been a while since I had a Vietnamese coffee, and this was a great return. Tumbler, half-full of sweetened condensed milk, and a small tin pot of strong brewing coffee that slowly drips down into it. They also gave me a tall glass of ice to pour it over, and that made it just about perfect. I might have been a little clumsy in getting all of the elements together, but that sweet strong rush of caffeine, sugar, and milk was just what I needed to cap off a great bowl of phở and to get back out and finish my afternoon. I admitted my restaurant infidelity to my wife, and she forgave me. I might not stray again, but if I do, maybe I’ll pick her up a takeout order.

Pretty good phở. It was a little bit on the saltier side but it came with all the expected toppings: bean sprouts, jalapeños, basil, lime. There was a good amount of meat on the combination phở. We also ordered a grilled meat spring roll — this was just okay. Its more of a sausage spring roll. I wasn’t too impressed with the meat and it was a bit small. The place is in an empty plaza next to a wig place but you have tons of parking.

Had quick lunch yesterday after a 6 hour cross country drive. Spring rolls were above average. Service was fast and the phở was OK. I had the seafood phở and the seafood was a little sparse and broth a little bland. The add ins were OK but I wish it had a little more jalapeño, there was only one slice. I’ll go again an try something else next time. Price was right where I expected it.
