Two words… burnt coffee. I live in Shawnee and have tried this place several times. Great view from the big open front… owner is sweet as she can be but the coffee tastes burnt. Keep hoping it will get better but it never does. :((sad

Great coffee; great staff. This place is a huge asset for Shawnee. Additionally they host visual art exhibits and the occasional live music act. Great local flavor.

Shawnee’s local coffee shop, unfortunately located in the abysmally dead downtown area. While a nice alternative to the chain location nearer the highway(yes Starbucks, I’m talking about you) it is a bit out of the way. They have even managed to get a coffee klatch of local Shawnee hipsters and wanna be hipsters, how cute! When I last went I saw a gentleman suspiciously looking like Lenin enjoying a cup of joe while typing away on his MacBook. The Guestroom Records record player, live music shows and indie music playing strive for hipster authenticity but after having lived in New York City for many years it seems forced in a town full of hayseeds. The coffee and teas are not bad, but nothing too outstanding. I have my doubts if the cify of Shawnee can support this local shop. I hope so as I’m all for shopping locally but this place just isn’t my cup of tea, so to speak…

This is a fantastic little gem in downtown Shawnee. Their coffee and teas are fantastic and the hummus is excellent. They no longer serve sandwiches which is a bummer because they were SO good. But you can go around the corner to Groove Bakery and Pizzeria and bring the food over to Sips to eat. I love the involvement they have in the community and their commitment to providing a place for local artists and performers.

The owners have transformed an old downtown retail building into a GREEN, hip new coffee shop. They’ve reclaimed the lumber and fashioned beautiful tables and counters. There’s a warm sense of friendship inside where everyone seems to already know and like each other! The coffee is milder than I’m accustomed to, but always tastes very fresh. Their sandwiches and paninis at lunch are fantastic. My favorite is the Grown-up Grilled Cheese panini. Amazing. It’s comfortable to meet for business or with friends. So happy to have them in downtown Shawnee!
