Fast, friendly and cheap! Great stop when you need a beef fix, you can smell the char grilling a block away. We will definitely go back for breakfast.

My fish sandwich was served hot on a fresh roll with really crisp lettuce. There is great value here: if you want good food for a very reasonable price, this is the place. The atmosphere is not fancy, but reminds me fondly of diners my mom worked in in Jersey when I was a kid. I felt really comfortable and loved my food. And we barely topped $ 20 with tip for two people. FYI though, skip the fries and melty cheese, because they’re bland and not worth the calories.

There is not one bad thing on this menu. They also serve beer, if you like to have a cold one with your burger. Love the fact that you can see them cook rite in front of you, and no gas here exactly like the name said charcoal only. The staff is friendly. Some of the staff need to figure out what is appropriate work talk when customers are around. But even that’s not enough for me not to give them a five star. Great food will always go back.

Oh man this is the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. Juicy, thin and charred. Cheesey. I need to go back to Wisconsin for this thing!!!

Nice diner setting. Had the hamburger/brat sandwich which was uniquely tastie. Didn’t seem as though the burger was really grilled over charcoal, but was still very good. Only real complaint… The napkins were too small :-)

Love this place. Homemade, family owned. I come here when I am up in Sheboygan, which is most weekends. I love their breakfast, buttery yummy eggs, hash browns. The best cheeseburgers. Charcoal cooked– how can you beat that!!! I have coming here for 10 plus years. This beats any chain for food. Homemade everything. Tip: ask for light butter on the sandwiches or the butter runs down your arms. Would you expect any less from the Dairy State?

Great taste and service. Will return. Can’t say anything bad when you get a cheeseburger and a cup of soup for $ 5. Good value.

This place here is a staple to Sheboygan’s culture when it comes to food. I’ll warn you however, if you don’t like burgers coated in butter, then this is not for you. Butter comes standard on them, and don’t be surprised when you see it leaked out onto the wrapping it comes in. I just had a trip there earlier today while on leave, and it was just as good as it’s been since as long as I remember. I ordered a cheese steak sandwich and it was perfectly made. It came on a trademark Sheboygan hard roll too, of course! I also had a side of cheese fries, and they’ve been great as always. The atmosphere isn’t special. It’s a small hole in the wall style restaurant that rather matches the low-living standard of Sheboygan, so it’s not bad not good. It’s actually rather fitting, actually. Still clean though, at least. Also, I’m not sure what it is about them, but their chocolate malts are just simply… amazing! All in all, if you ever make a stop in Sheboygan, stop in at either Charcoal Inn and enjoy a simple delicious burger.

Charcoal Inn has the BEST burgers I’ve ever tasted! When I get a hankering for a burger, it’s a Charcoal Inn butter burger that I really want. Locally ground, charcoal grilled, perfectly seasoned meat served with a glob of butter on a Sheboygan hard roll… it really doesn’t get any better. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The grilled cheese is also amazing with their thick cut cheddar cheese. Very reasonably priced food, especially for the quality. The only downside… they’re closed Sunday and Monday. A trip to Sheboygan is just not complete without a stop at Charcoal Inn.

Stopped in a couple hours ago… per my gps & Unilocal… Bad timing on my part… too early to opt for any charcoal prepared food… had to opt for breakfast… Not bad and reasonably priced. In town for a couple more days so will probably stop in for a lunch or dinner! NOTE: They only take cash.

Came in town for memorial weekend and decided to come here for breakfast. Cute little restaurant. Ordered four meals for family of four and the total was $ 20. Very good good. Will go back there again! Thank you for great breakfast and service was great! Thank you!

I ordered the Double Brat on a Sheboygan Hard Roll with cheddar cheese and sauerkraut. The food was delicious, greasy, messy, and very German; but the cook handled the food without gloves and, while she was at it, called someone what I can only assume was a very derogatory racial slur. The other waitress was nice and there was gossipy banter on both sides of the counter. It’s definitely a local dive. It’s a quaint place with great food but it lacks in customer service, appropriateness, and some basic food prep codes. Mind you, I still ate it, and it was delicious!

I like their food occasionally but one day I was soooo tired of their burgers so I ordered a ham and cheese, I kid you not it tasted exactly like the burgers. But still if you feel like a greasy burger with real Wisconsin cheese their your place!

My favorite restaurant in the world. Is it fancy? Hell no. But I grew up with it back in the day when there were several competing charcoal grills in Sheboygan. No matter where I go(I live in NYC and Boston) I dream of this place and my favorite hamburger and chicken and dumpling soup on the planet. No pretense, Formica tables, cash only, closed Sunday and Monday. I have filled a carryon suitcase with their brats and burgers and eaten them for days in NYC. I have tried to reproduce their food at home and can’t: it’s the bun. Don’t miss this place.

The epitome of Sheboygan food. Gotta love butter burgers, along with a vanilla malt, pretty hard to beat that. I have relatives all over the U.S. that used to want me to mail them Charcoal Inn, unfortunately all I could send them were the classic«Sheboygan hard rolls» Now I am the one wanting some charcoal inn sent to me. Really miss this place, Also miss the killer pizza joint right down the street. 4 Stars

Very casual lunch counter type dining. The brat+burger sandwich was pretty good. Nicely charred from the indoor charcoal grill. Good for a quick and cheap meal if in the area. Service was quick and friendly.

my first Sheboygan brawt! It was off the hook! I got it with the works, mustard, ketchup, onion and pickles. It was terrific. I loved the greasy spoon feel about this place. You can taste the charcoal of the Charcoal Inn, it was fantastic! I can’t wait to get back to WI!

Dear Charcoal Inn, I want to travel 1,247 miles to be with you again. I miss your juicy brat burgers and to-die-for malts.
