Many cars and few people in the restaurant when we stopped. The menu looked interesting, but we usually order a large ice water to begin. You would have thought we asked for a bottle of Jim Beam straight up. Waitress seemed poorly informed about the items on the menu and very impatient with a few questions. Atmosphere seemed tense and not very friendly. We ordered the crab cakes. small and just o.k. and went elsewhere to have our meal. We wanted to like it, but no go. Others raved about cheese curds. how can you wreck them?

I visited here on Christmas Eve day with my mom and BF. I wanted fried cheese curds and every place in town was closed already. The view is fantastic — looking out over the water with a nice big deck outside. The atmosphere is pretty basic. More of a shot and a beer vibe than a fancy place. The cheese curds were yummy — beer battered salty goodness, served with ranch or blue cheese. We opted for both. BF got oysters, which he said were good. I didn’t force myself to taste them. We also split the artichoke spinach dip, which was just okay. It was thin and green and didn’t hang on to the chips well. BF got a beer, I got a specialty martini and then a well rum and diet and mom got a specialty drink. They were all fine. The bill seemed excessive for three drinks and three appetizers, but hey — I got my cheese curd fix.

My wife and I were recently to the Sheboygan area for a business trip early in November. After her meeting concluded on a early Wednesday evening, we took a delightful walk along the boardwalk on the Sheboygan river out to the marinas and breakwater. Unexpected rain hit us quite suddenly so we decided to change our dinner plans and eat at the Pier 17 restaurant which is located right off the boardwalk. On this rainy and cold evening we were welcomed by a very friendly warm and relaxing atmosphere at the restaurant. The front part of the restaurant is a typical sports bar where sandwiches and a great selection of micro-beers can be enjoyed. The back half of the restaurant is casual and inviting with outstanding views of the river and Harbor area. Our server was very relaxed and knowledgeable of the menu items and specials. The selection of menu items was not exhaustive, however they had a delightful offering of multiple poultry, seafood, and beef selections. My wife had blackened salmon over a rice pilaf dish and I had beef tenderloin with roasted potatoes. Our service was prompt and the timing between each course of the meal was perfect. For dessert we shared a salted caramel chocolate lava cake that was served hot with abundant whip cream in was an exceptional treat to the end of a wonderful meal. Their meal prices are a little high and the beer/wine selections ran between $ 8 to $ 12 per serving. We would rate the overall menu prices as «$$$$». The only reason that I did not rate them as five stars is that I ordered my beef tenderloin as Medium and it was served as Rare. Overall we recommend this place and will eat there again.

Me and my wife just went to eat here the other night. I ordered a steak sandwich in my wife ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. Both plates for excellent. Our server koke was his name was on top of everything. We definitely plan on going back again.

Beautiful location and scenery, but lackluster service and spotty food quality. A bit pricey for what you get. There are too many better choices in Sheboygan…

I ordered the Salmon Wrap. It was SO good! I definitely recommend it! It had quinoa, dried cherries, walnuts, cubed squash and we got a side of fries. It was served cold. There was a great atmosphere, the music was very chill and the waitress was nice. If you’re in the area try to stop by!

Have been to Pier 17 several times with decent experiences. Not this time. My wife and I both ordered the filet, assumed it was a tenderloin since separately they offered a sirloin filet. First off, I’ve never seen two tenderloins come out oblong and fairly thin. Absolutely no flavor and there is no doubt in my mind based on the color and graininess of the steak surface that it was tenderized. I didn’t realize my wife’s experience was the same as mine as I had to leave the table, tenderizer destroys my gastro system or I would have told the waitress. For $ 28 each, I would have expected a decent filet. On the positive side, the roasted Brussel spouts and salad dressings were very good and the service good.

We were there for outside table the hostess told us to wait for someone leaving so we were waiting for 45 mins, that she would come to us at the bar when it was available. Finally a table was available and they told us not to sit there until it was bussed, as we wait for them to bus the table a group of people sit down there. I approach the hostess to say that table was meant for us. She then didn’t want to tell the people to get up and said there’s nothing she can do for us. So she told us Oh that table is first come first serve! C’mon lady you told me to WAIT! And they even have a sign you have to see hostess to get the table! Horrible experience! Will never go back again! Aug 16, 20153pm who’s that hostess at the time don’t deserve to get that job! Someone else will do better than her!

My family and I have been coming to Sheboygan for several years on vacation and had always enjoyed knocking back some ribs in the casual environment of Brisco County. However, we were willing to embrace change, so we decided to give Pier 17 a try. I will preface the experience with my call at 11 a.m. to the restaurant to make a 5:30 reservation for a Saturday. I was told that no additional reservations were being taken, but I could«chance it» if we wanted to walk in. Being overly concerned about the huge crowd that we’d be up against, we adjusted our plans and arrived at 5, hoping to be squeezed in. Needless to say, when we arrived, the dining room was probably 60% empty, and about the same when we left just before 7. Either the«no reservations» line was bogus, or a lot of patrons canceled. So, on to the meal. It began with our server telling us that several items on the menu were not available, including linguini pasta. Out of pasta? Can’t someone run down to the Piggly Wiggly? Not a good start. On the upside, the cheese curds and mozzarella wonton roll appetizers were very good, although the wonton marinara was a little soupy. Also, I counted an impressive 30 beers on tap. Unfortunately, they were out of my first choice, so I had an alternate Fat Tire selection. And, they don’t offer blended drinks, so those wanting piña coladas and daiquiris were out of luck. For dinner(which took about an hour to arrive while others around us were being served), one person in our party had the mahi mahi based on our server’s recommendation. It was overdone and chewy chewy. Although our server was told that the dish was«not fantastic,» nothing was done to remedy the situation. Two people in our party ordered steak, both requesting medium, and both arrived overcooked. My kid had one of the steaks and complained that her broccoli tasted funny. I thought she may be overreacting, so I gave it a taste. Indeed, it had a distinct taste of either the gas or lighter fluid used to grill it. While overcooked, both steak eaters said their steaks were«pretty good.» My wife had the Reuben which she said was just OK, as was the case with the fettuccine Alfredo. I had the pork loin special that I ordered well done(who eats pork less than well done?), which, as I should have expected, was a little tough. However, the teriyaki sauce, rice pilaf and green beans it came with were actually good. We were celebrating a birthday, so they did comp us a sizable slice of chocolate cake that we all shared and enjoyed. I wish I could give Pier 17 a better review(2 stars is being generous) but we ended up disappointed overall and $ 232 lighter in the pocketbook. We probably won’t be back… unless, perhaps, they decide to feature slabs of ribs… hmmm.

Went here for a co workers last day so we had a big group but mannn did it take a long time. We were there for two hours. Not only did it take a while but the food was complete crap. I got the burger and it was these two tiny patties. I would not recommend going here. The food is crappy and the service is slow

I come up to Sheboygan a few times a year, and often not for very long periods of time. I was pretty surprised to see that Brisco was gone, as I had only been there once and had a pleasant experience. However, my girlfriend and I were happy to see another restaurant had moved into the space, and thought we’d give it a go. Overall, we’re really glad we did! Our trip here began with about a twenty minute wait to get a table, despite the fact that the main dining room was almost empty. Apparently they were really behind on tickets and stopped seating everyone– I appreciate the hostess’s honesty and we weren’t too troubled by waiting for a table. The menus aren’t laminated or glossed, something that was only really noticeable because my menu had a bright orange-red mystery sauce splotch on it. It didn’t make me all too excited to read the menu. The dining room is modern and pretty with ambiance lighting, and a really pretty view of the river. We didn’t get to sit outside– though there is a patio– because of a thunderstorm warning, but in the future we’d definitely pick outdoor seating for the view. Our waitress was really attentive and made good conversation, but I wish she would have told us the specials. We learned them from overhearing a different server at the table next to us. She also didn’t try to sell us on dessert(which we had overheard too), which surprised me. Dinner, however, was absolutely fantastic. We started with drinks, my partner had a Tropical Dragon and I had Woodland Punch, which tasted almost like a hurricane. Both were $ 11. I was excited that it came with a refill, so I didn’t have to nurse one drink throughout the whole meal. We started with two appetizers, cheese curds($ 8) and crab cakes($ 10). Both were really good. The curds weren’t too greasy and came with either ranch or bleu cheese. The crab cakes came two to an order and were rather generous in size, and had a good amount of crab in them. I’d definitely order both of these things again. For entrees, my partner had the Bacon Wrapped Fillet($ 28) rare, and it came topped with gorgonzola, sweet potato mash, and grilled broccoli. The steak was SO good, and the mash was too. The broccoli was bland and needed a bit of salt, that’s the only real complaint about this dish. I ordered the Duck Confit($ 22) which came with green beans, wild rice, and a cherry demi glacé. This was amazing. The rice was simple but really delicious, and the duck was cooked absolutely perfectly. It just fell off the bone, and I only needed a fork to eat it. Again, the green beans were bland and needed salting, but I didn’t even care. Both of these came with side salads and bread and butter, which were alright. Overall, the food outweighs any other negative points I had about this restaurant. The service has its questionable moments, the menus are icky, and the veggies aren’t the best. But I didn’t care much about any of these things after enjoying an amazing meal with a great view of the water. We will definitely be back at this location.

Excellent food. The homemade chips, burgers, pulled pork, and bucatini are must tries. Drove to the pier for the fireworks. Enjoyed the dinner more than the fireworks!

I had the Cobb salad today for nine dollars. No egg, no chicken. It had some bacon, two cherry tomatoes cut in half, some crumbled blue cheese, three small slices of avocado, and of course Romain lettuce maybe a forth of a head. No bread on the side. I thought it was highly overpriced for what I got. I have been there once before and had a good meal. But was highly disappointed today.

Excellent beers and decent menu. Cheese curds were so so. Halibut was completely overdone and tasteless. Thankfully I had filled up on appetizers.

A nice restaurant in a great location on Sheboygan’s riverfront. A nice menu and a nice beer selection make this a place worth visiting. Sometimes the service can be lacking, but the food and views will quickly take your attention away from that.

Great afternoon meal. New york strip came with baked potato and wood grilled broccoli. The wood grilled flavor kind of overpowered the natural flavor of the beautifully prepared steak, and the broccoli would’ve been great just plain steamed. I actually left broccoli on the plate, which has gotta be a first for me. My salad was fresh and satisfying. Actually got dessert as well, the chocolate cookie crust cheesecake! The cream on it was very nice. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were reasonable, steak was listed @ $ 24. It was about 230pm and there was only one other table when we got there. Menu is varied, offering steak, seafood, sandwiches, cheese curds of course this is Sheboygan. I remember seeing pan seared trout, brat, reuben sandwich, won ton mozzarella sticks, caesar salad… plenty of options. We’ll be back and hope to receive the same courteous service.

So very pleased that this prime riverfront property has changed over to new, competent hands. Pier 17 is a breath of fresh air in comparison to the previous tenant; those from the area will *fondly* remember dear old Brisco Steakhouse… Anywho on to the current tenant! The staff are very well trained, and service was pleasant all the way from the call I made earlier today to make a reservation, through the greeting from the host staff, and the service at table. Service is most definitely given with a smile. :) Everything was also very prompt! We moved swiftly from drinks to appetizer to main course; seamless transitions throughout. Really nice improvements on the décor and the menu in comparison to the offerings at Brisco. The restaurant is also actually kept clean now. Yay for joining the 21st century! ;) I started off with the New York double-IPA to drink — which I highly recommend, very nice and light for an IPA — and then we shared an order of cheese curds as a table. The curds were golden brown; none were overcooked. For my main, I had the ham and gouda sandwich with a side salad. LOVED the fact that Sheboygan hard rolls are in use. The sandwich was nicely prepared, though I will note that it was hard to taste the gouda… Not sure if that’s a reflection of the brand of gouda in use, or of the multitude of flavors present in the sandwich drowning it out. Either way, a bit more gouda would be, gouda. ;D There are just a few slight improvements I’d suggest, and these are what keep me at 4 stars rather than 5: there should be spoons provided for sauces and dressings. Having to pour dressings over the sides of dishes that then sit on the table is a recipe for a gross table top. Also, there should be little packages of butter at table. The piece of bread included with the salad was a nice touch, but no butter in sight… Lastly a suggestion for the menus: definitely laminate these, or cover them in plastic, etc. The current card stock copies are deteriorating quickly, and I’d rather not thumb over the stains of the previous guest’s meal that have sunk into the flimsy paper. THESEAREALLMINORTHINGS. All in all a good experience, and I would definitely come again. Thumbs up, Pier 17!

Been a few times for lunch and dinner since they opened. Highly recommend the bone-in rib eye but burgers, seafood and pasta all great as well. My wife and I travel and dine extensively, this food ranks up there in quality and the view is hard to beat!
