I’ve been coming here ever since I was little. Technically not HERE, because this fruit market relocated from the block next door a couple of years ago, and technically it was my mom who would bring me back then. I loved those childhood shopping trips not only because I was enthralled by the seemingly endless selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, but also because I thought the name was hilarious(and that was back when I was still innocent). Fast forward twenty five years, and the produce selection no longer inspires the awe it once did, everything being fairly basic and mostly non-organic options. I don’t buy organic anyway, and the prices and the quality are great compared to my local supermarkets, so I’m here a lot. Their non-produce options — eggs, milk, various cheeses and breads, lots of Russian and Turkish speciality foods, teas and the usual parade of cereals, baking supplies, rice, noodles, dried beans and household cleaning supplies are not noteworthy, other than I still like walking around looking at everything. Service is efficient and curt, so the lines usually go pretty quickly. I’ll go to a couple of the other Kings Highway fruitmarkets at times for convenience or specific items, but the Big Banana will always be my favorite.

It’s the typical convenient grocery store that everyone knows about it. Decent prices, ok selection and no store assistance but you really don’t need any. Some of the highlights include there fruits and produce but sadly they don’t have a very large selection. They also have basic cleaning supplies and party extras but once again not a very large selection and not the best prices. Overall keep an eye out for their deals on stuff like yogurt, bread, and fruits and remember to try to come in during the beginning and end of the week, their stuff is more fresh when the food trucks do there drop offs.
