A great restaurant off the beaten path. It’s not your typical small town eatery. The Chef is well trained and his food is fantastic. I especially like the apple onion soup and get a cup whenever I go regardless of what else I order. I’ve never not enjoyed my experience here and would highly recommend it. I’ve been told they will be opening a new location at the corner of Rte 6 and 78 in Annawan Illinois which will make it more accessible to travelers on I-80.

On a drive across the country, pulled off I-80, and drove to this little gem. Having eaten fast food or rest stops this was a much needed reprieve. We had the apple onion soup with grilled bread and it was delicious. Better than most French onion soup. No bread pieces on the inside, but packed with flavor and really hot. Staff was awesome. Prices awesome. And décor great. We also had a BLT and egg sandwich on Thick fresh bread, which was surprisingly not baked on site. I seriously think this place could be places in a larger city and do really well. Definitely worth getting off the highway.

Lunch is a much better, meal in my opinion. More than once I’ve been disappointed by the ribeye here. No flavor, I guess I should have spent the two dollars for the parmesan crusting on the steak. No flavor whatsoever to the steak. Salt and pepper and garlic powder would have helped. I asked for steak sauce and ended up trading my kid the steak for his burger anyway. The Burger was good it’s thick with bacon and cheese. The sides were veggies and mashed potatoes.

So this used be one of our favorite places. Now it is like eh it’s okay. They took things off the menu we liked or changes dishes around. I hate going Friday and Saturday night because they only have two waitresses. So you only see the waitress when the waitress takes your order, when she delivers the drinks, then food, and lastly when the bill comes. Don’t get me wrong these girls are no slackers. It’s just too much for two people. I just hate paying that kind of money for such little service. Plus now if you use a credit card or debit card the charge you 3.5%. I am bummed, I had hope they would have been better.

I have been looking forward to visiting this highly recommended restaurant for a couple of months now… and I wasn’t disappointed in my food! My steak was excellent and those who ordered fish were equally pleased. However, the atmosphere was a bit too quaint for our group. The building is quaint and the high tin ceilings charming, but seating is a bit crowded and conversation among a large group is difficult.

The locals kept raving about this place so I came here for lunch… and came back for dinner! When I walked in I immediately liked it. It’s in a super small town and it manages to have a nice upscale yet casual urban feel while maintaining small town warmth. Perfect décor. I loved the orange booths and the local art on the walls. Good food at really good prices and huge portions. For lunch I had the wedding salad which was wonderful and then I couldn’t resist the caramel bread pudding. I usually hate that saying that something is «to die for» but I honestly thought for a moment while I was eating it that I would fight someone to the death right then if they had tried to take it from me. SO good. So rich though –I wish there was a little less of the carmel sauce(and that they could have saved me my leftovers for when I came back for dinner.) At dinner I had a steak — steak is SO good in Illinois! And it was great here — it came with garlic mashed potatoes(with the perfect amount of garlic), fresh green beans, parmesan toast and coleslaw. I got the steak peppercorn crusted and medium well and it was PERFECT. Everything was really good. The service was wonderful and I even ended up buying a couple of photos of the wall from a local photographer — at a super great price! TWOENTHUSIASTICTHUMBSUP!

Wow.. .Great food at Great Prices. This establishment is top notch. The Chef/Owner Eran Salzmann has been successful in many operations as well as many competitions. This is a must go to place if you enjoy a true culinary experience as he will not let you down. He will rival the best chefs in the biggest cities. Has the absolute best bread pudding ever so make sure you don’t finish your entrée or you won’t have room for it. It’s always a good idea to call before heading out there, since he is the owner operator if he gets sick he doesn’t let just anyone run his restaurant like the chains do, he would rather close than just put someone in there to cook for his guests.

Awesome food with great gourmet presentation! A surprise to find in rural Illinois. It has been on my list of todo’s, and finally went. Was not let down at all. Pancakes are delicious and huge! Very great price as well. They’re trying on their environment, so hopefully it gets there, but that doesn’t even make me take a star off. Gosh, I’m jealous of Sheffield!
