This review is solely based on buying gelato from here, not having gelato here! I used a Localvore Today deal last Saturday afternoon to buy a quart of the pistachio gelato(price is $ 15), but the gelatos were not as good as I had hoped or expected for this place. I’m sad because pistachio is normally my second favorite flavor with hazelnut coming first. I sampled many of the most popular options, but didn’t really find a single one I really liked. That might be because the gelatos are homemade so it wasn’t as flavored as I prefer. For me, the pistachio gelato somehow had a very fragrant aftertaste that I don’t like(not sure what it is). I still do like the pistachio gelato, just not in love. That being said, there lots of atypical gelato flavors such as peanut butter and grapefruit so if you’re looking to be adventurous with your gelato, then give this place a shot. Another thing that I didn’t really like was the ambiance. There was no one in Gusto Gelato when I went so I had to go next door and ask the kitchen staff at La Villa(owned by the same people) and was greeted with an awkward stare. Eventually a girl did come to assist me. I understand not staffing the gelato store, but at least be friendly please. I think Gusto and La Villa just aren’t used to customers as it was very dead except for two people eating at La Villa. This place is located a bit out of the way, which explains why it’s relatively deserted on a weekend. I thought I would return to this place over and over again, but not anymore. The one thing I did like were the light sorbets(grapefruit and cantaloupe). I might be back to for that, but I do think the gelatos need more flavor. If you like milder flavors then I’d say go for it, but if you’re like me and prefer bold flavors then be cautioned. Happy eating!

Évaluation du lieu : 4 South Burlington, VT
It was about time that we got a good ice cream shop in the South End of Burlington, to be honest it is in the northern part of Shelburne. It has started as part of La Villa Restaurant, but it will have its own independent space soon next to the eatry. There were 12 varieties, of beautiful looking gelato in the freezer, there were three sizes, we decided to get the large size, 2 scoops in a large cookie dough cone. Mine was vanilla chocolate chip and a scoop of berry, absolutely delicious, my husband had the pistachio and maple walnut, excellent. Until the café is opened there is no place to enjoy your gelato inside unless you sit at the bar. I welcome this new addition to our culinary scene and hope it trives.
