I love this place! My husband and I frequent often. They have all Michigan wines with reasonable wine flight prices. They have all Michigan snacks and the charcuterie boards are to die for! Knowledgable staff who are always pleasant!

We love Michigan By The Bottle! We are regulars there — usually there at least once a week. The staff is knowledgeable, fun, and attentive. On Fridays they have live entertainment, Mondays and Tuesdays they are closed for special events(sign up for some of them like Wine 101, Yoga and Wine, and Wine & Food Pairings), which just adds to the fun of enjoying great wine. MBTB strives to support all things Michigan. It’s a local business supporting other local businesses and the economy. The cheese, chocolate, crackers, and wine are all from Michigan. You can explore several of Michigan’s wonderful wine trails all in one location(well, technically two since they have another location). Grab a flight of wine, explore the varieties offered in Michigan, and relax. Cheers.

My husband and I frequent there about once every two months. We have two little kids at home so it’s a challenge to be able to get out of the house for a couple hours. But when we do, it’s always a joy to visit MBTB. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgable. We normally share the ‘Full Flight’ which usually is enough for the both of us. My husband asked me what I wanted for my upcoming birthday. I asked him for a bottle of Solem Farms Red and Mindo chocolate disks from MBTB! Looking forward to my awesome birthday gift ;)

I’ve been to this place one time and I need to come back. Located along a strip mall on Hayes. It was for a wine tasting and food event but I felt this deserved a review because of keeping it local with Michigan wines. Everything I tasted on my flight was delicious! I can’t go without saying the owners Shannon and Cortney treat you like you’ve known them for years. Even the servers were very friendly. Like I said, I need to come back!

This place is excellent. The selection, staff and value and unbeatable. I went with a party of four and we each ordered a flight from the well-varied menu and one charcuterie board. Each flight came with a choice of tasty crackers or nuts, two cheeses, some chocolates and a treat for the dessert wine. All of the products are Michigan-made and well hand-picked. The staff was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and patient. Overall, I was so glad we found the place and plan to bring along as many wine-loving friends as I can get to make the drive out. Everything was so delicious for such excellent pricing. If you’re considering it, just go! Even if you don’t know a lot about wines, just go!

All of the other reviews have capitalized on the positives of this gem. It may look unassuming when you walk up to the storefront, but the place is a wine-lover’s haven in the Detroit ‘Burbs. Went with my sister for the tasting, 5 wine flight, 2 oz pours, $ 10. The menu is very easy to navigate, starting with whites, moving on to fruity reds, and finally listing the dry and full bodied reds. The waitstaff were extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the wine. It was also a «celebrate summer» event, so there was a BBQ food truck out front, and we could bring in our grilled nummy meats into the wine shop, and they also offered pairings. The cool thing was, MBTB Tasting Room has MANY events throughout the year and showcases local produce, artists, musicians, and businesses. The workers also said that they are building a new store in Royal Oaks!!! :) Very excited. Until then, if you live in the Detroit area, it is worth the drive to this wonderful wine-filled gem.

This place is great. Nice, good owners and good events throughout the week, from different foods to different kinds of entertainment. The wine selection is plentiful and there is a great variety for both red and white wine drinkers. They represent Michigan well too with the selection. Definitely worth a stop in.

A fun little place. I wish it was closer to Detroit but it is worth the trip out to the location. The staff was good, the wine was good and the selection was interesting. Worth a visit.

Great place to try out some wine. Casual but classy environment. 30 or so wines to choose from. Samples start at about $ 5. Cheese and chocolate are a wonderful addition.

MBTB has been a true gift to us. We stumbled across it one evening on our way to dinner and have become regulars since. Cort and Shannon are whole heartedly behind what they do in support of Michigan wineries. They’re knowledge and enthusiasm of wine is motivational. Take advantage of any opportunity you can to attend one of their many special events. From partnering with local restaurants and businesses(thanks for Danielle’s Maria’s Salsa addiction) to meeting some local winemakers, every event is a joy to attend. Our love and appreciation for wine is directly related to our experiences at MBTB. If you go tell them Mark sent you!

Michigan by the bottle is a hidden gem along the side of Hayes, tucked away where most people might miss it. However, its one of those gems that you want to pay attention to, or at least learn directions to. Because for those wine lovers out there, this is a GREAT place to come out and to sample some of Michigan’s wines. They work with a handful of the Michigan wineries to supply samples /tastings of the wineries wines to the people that come and visit their store. Everything you’re able to taste there, you’re also able to purchase. You can sample as little as 3 pours, or up to 5 for a full flight. Usually with that you get to sample some Michigan made food such as chocolates or cheeses. The staff there will suggest which wines to sample cheeses with, and which ones to pair the chocolates with… The staff there is amazingly friendly. Shannon and Cort are the owners of the place, and they have been the most accommodating to the groups of people that I’ve been able to bring in there to have them sample some of Michigan’s finer wines. The work that they do there is awesome, they always have specials or classes going where they are doing things such as paintings, yoga, having local restaurants come in and pair their food with the wines that are available, and going above and beyond any wine sampling store that I have ever personally been to. If you like wine… go there, you will not be disappointed. They are there to enlighten your taste buds of what some Michigan wineries have to offer!!!

What’s that? An interesting new place in Shelby Township. I don’t believe it but it’s true. My wife and I stopped by when a friend suggested we check it out. Like everyone else on the planet, we love wine. Turns out we also love a good time. This place provides both! If you love wine you should be pretty familiar with the wines they stock as they are all local Michigan wines. We’ve visited most of the wineries in Traverse City that they carry. The best part is the owners. This area needs more young entrepreneurs and Shannon and Cortney are so enthusiastic and nice. They remembered us the after the first visit. The other bonus is after we drink some wine that we like we don’t have to go looking for it somewhere else. The pricing is competitive and when you get a wine credit after the tasting flight you can not go wrong. We recently took some friends and after our flights we bought a couple bottles and finished them at home afterward. This is just what this city needs. So sick of corporations. Kudos to these guys! PS. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the beautiful space. It is super peaceful and elegant.

I went here for my second time about a week ago because I just needed something to do and it seemed like a good idea. Turns out it totally was. I showed up at about 940 on Saturday night. I was by myself so I sat at the bar and was taken care of by Melissa. I don’t know what any of the other servers here are like but with her extensive wine knowledge I would request her! I only tried one wine that didn’t grow on me, but ended up leaving with two bottles. I have really gotten into tasting Michigan wines in the past couple years, and when I can’t take a trip up to old mission this is a perfect substitute!

I’ve been here on two occasions. Once with my husband on a date night, before dinner and once with my friend to participate in the Sips & Serenity Yoga & Wine night. On the first trip, hubby and I arrived to a pretty busy shop. You can either order a full flight — 5 samples of your choosing, or you can go blind and have one of the owners choose for you. This also comes with a small plate of local(to Michigan) cheeses and chocolate. The other choice is a flight of 3 samples for $ 5 and you can choose to add on a small plate for an additional cost. The samples themselves are pretty generous and they come with a sheet of information detailing the Michigan wineries that make the wines and a description of each wine available for tasting. The cheeses and the chocolates don’t get an information sheet, but I did see some information on the dairies and the chocolatiers in the shop. While we really enjoyed ourselves, I don’t feel like we were as educated on each winery, or given as much help as I wanted in choosing the wines for our samples. This was mostly because it was a Saturday night, the place was new and very busy and the two owners were running themselves ragged trying to accommodate everyone. I ended up leaving with a bottle of wine and some cheese. Everything can be purchased in the store, from the wine to the goodies to the art that you see all around, created by Michigan artists. The second time I went was for a Sips & Serenity night with my friend. The cost was $ 20(prepaid) and that included 1 hour of yoga with a certified instructor, followed by a wine tasting of 5 wines and a small plate of cheese and chocolate. With the purchases of the event, you also get a discount on a bottle of wine, which I took advantage of, of course! The yoga was fantastic, but again, the owner was overwhelmed with people and couldn’t fully explain everything, or assist each individual with choices or suggestions. The store has several fun sounding events going on throughout the month and there are several that have piqued my interest. Plus, the fact that they promote local businesses has me cheering them on for continued success. Since it is a new concept in the area and they’ve only been around for a few months, I am sure they will work out the kinks and get the place running smoothly for years to come. I don’t know that I will be a regular, but I will definitely be checking out the fun events for another one to participate in. Make sure to sign up for their newsletter so that you can be aware of what is coming up because they sell out quickly!

Whites as always are pretty solid MI whites, the reds from michigan as expected are weak and lack flavor all around. The«Big Bold reds» are nothing special. Honestly I’m going to stick with getting my wine from the local grocery store. The staff was friendly but really didn’t give me any reason to come back.

Wine Bar? Not exactly. Retail wine shop? Not exactly. The first time ever in the state of Michigan, this place is a licensed tasting room. For multiple wineries! They represent six Michigan wineries located all over the state. So, you don’t have to travel all the way up to Traverse City or out to Paw Paw, or to Jackson to try Michigan wines. Just so you know where I’m coming from, I’ve known owners Courtney and Shannon for three years now. They have been tirelessly promoting Michigan wines through their web site: with podcasts, contests, interviews of the wine makers and blogging their travels through wine country. Now, I happen to think Michigan wines have a lot going for them — they produce some of the finest cold weather wines: Riesling, Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. And they are only now beginning to get the press they deserve. This is a great way to enjoy Michigan wines. They have put together a sharp room, complete with awesome paintings(for sale) by local artists and a fun, friendly and informed staff. They carry at least 6 wines from each of the six wineries and serve a cheese and chocolate plate along with your flight of 5 wines for only $ 10. You can also buy bottles of the wines you like the best. Their selections are limited productions wines that are not available in the southeast Michigan area. Normally, you could only purchase them directly from the winery. In fact, one wine was not even released yet at the winery! To complement the wines, they serve cheeses and chocolates with the flights. They are fun to discover, too and all these are produced locally, in Michigan. Great way to show off Michigan produce. This is a real showcase for«Buy Local.» The only drawback is that this is, as it says, a «tasting room.» By law, all they can serve are tasting sized servings. No full glasses or bottles. Some may be inconvenienced as most of the seating is high stools which some may find uncomfortable. And crackers or breads are not served, if you are used to them. They have put a lot of thought into this and it shows. Can’t wait to go back. Located in the Hayes Center Shoppes strip mall just North of Hall Road(M-59).
