So, I’ve heard both good and bad about this restaurant. i decided to try something«small» to get a feel for their food, so I ordered beef fried rice. ITWASNOTGOOD. It tasted really burnt. I was totally dissatisfied and tossed it. I’ve always wanted to try egg foo young. MAYBE, I will give them another try. They are so close to my home. I wanted to like them :(

Love this place! I’ve been eating here for over 10 years. The takeout is always delicious and the lady who owns it is a hoot! She is sure to make you smile when you pick up your carry out. Get the Almond Boneless Chicken and the mixed greens. So delicious!

I’ve lived in Shelby Twp since 1995 and never had food as abundant and consistent on flavor as this one! In 2010 I got married and moved to Royal Oak where I tried several places but none compared to Orient Express. My family has been ordering take out from them at least once a week and we have NEVER gotten sick. This place is not only the friendliest but also the cleanest and they don’t use cheap ingredients. I moved back to Shelby Twp in 2012 and couldn’t be happier to come back to my favorite take out place! You have to try this place if you live near by. My sister lives in Washington Twp and drives 15 minutes each way at least once a week to grab take out from here.

I usually go to hong kong café which is across the road from this place but I wanted to try something different. The food was pretty mediocre. I got the almond chicken. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. The portion was big enough for two people so that is a plus. If you want a generic chinese meal this place is fine but I really don’t understand the rave reviews.

I would tell anyone who asked me about this place to never go here. First off when I ordered the take out over the phone the lady who took my order was rushing me and was rude. When I went to go get it the food was ready on time, however I was very upset when I was in there because the same lady who took my order over the phone was being very mean to one of the other staff members in front of costumers. She was talking down to the other girl who was working and was rolling her eyes at her right in front of me. When I got home to eat it with a friend everything we ordered was terrible. Their sweet and sour chicken was so dry and tough. I ordered extra pineapple to go with the sweet and sour chicken and they didnt even put one pineapple in the carton. I ordered the chicken fried rice as well and that was even more dry than the chicken. Some bites of the rice didn’t taste like it was cooked. I decided since my friend and I each only took about 3 bites of food and spent $ 16 on it we should go back and get our money back. When we went back I did not bring the food back with me because I threw at out at home because of how bad it was. I explained the situation to the same lady who took my order and asked if we could get our money back and she said we couldn’t. She said for me to get my money back I would have to go home and get all the food out of the garbage and bring it back. I told her I do not live very close to the restaurant so I did not want to go back home and get it. At that point in front of other customers who were in the restaurant she started yelling at me and didnt want to help me anymore. To make a long story short I went back and forth with her for probably five minutes dealing with her yelling at me and eventually got half of my money back. I don’t know how others would take that situation but being there dealing with that was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. So as I said before if anyone ever asks me or mentions this place I am going to advise them not to go and save their money. There are many other Chinese restaurants around that are actually good and the owners and staff appreciate your business and care about making the customers happy.

A friend who lives near Stoney Creek, mentioned that If i was ever near by the Orient Express, that it was worthy of my time, he was spot on! Neither one of us had the desire to cook, and I was at 28& Jewel & knew this was near my route towards home. called ahead, sweet, personable gal took my order, asked me my name & was curious who referred me. When I walked in 12 minutes later it was ready & the owner said hello RON, introduced me to a customer & told him it was my first time, he also replied, you’ll love it, I’m here weekly . I ordered the Almond Boneless Chicken Combo, which included fried rice & egg roll. Don had told me the orders were big enough for 2, he was correct we each had a full serving &2 – 3 pieces left over. Almond Chicken was moist throughout & the crust was as crunchy as I had hoped. It was garnished with almond slivers & a generous amount of scallions. The fried rice was a deep brown/golden color, also with almonds very flavorful. The egg roll tasted fresh & not like the Gordon Food variety if you know what i mean. We will be back. Just a note as you look for restaurants, I was to far away to use the Unilocal monocle, but Im a huge fan of the GOOGL [ 46645 ] text messaging to look up numbers it is quick easy & free text for instance Butlers Collision, Roseville MI to 46645 — - — Google without the E & in about 30 seconds you’ll have the name, number, address Ive used it since 2008, but never thought to share it here until today.

Don’t take the advice of a one time customer. We have lived in the area for eight years now, and have been customers since we moved in. The food is very good, very reasonably priced. It’s about what you would expect, maybe a tad more. They are always very prompt(ten minutes) with your order. We have tried the surrounding offerings and have found that they come up short in comparison.

Purchased 6 different dishes over the past few months. All were bad. Found a better place on Van Dyke.

A few nights ago my family was craving Chinese. Unfortunately, most of the places we pick up Chinese are not around the corner from our house, so we were looking for something new. My aunt suggested Orient Express, her family eats here all of the time. When we pulled in, we just knew it was going to be good. There was a long line and their phone was ringing off the hook with phone orders. We had to wait for our food, and knew it was going to be nice and fresh. We ordered a quart of General Tao and a quart of Sweet and Sour Chicken, a Large Egg drop soup and a shrimp eggroll. We could barely pick up our bag it was so full! Our total was about $ 23 and it fed the 3 of us and would have for 2 or more sittings. The food was tasty, although the sweet and sour chicken wasn’t the best that I’ve had. I ate the sweet and sour chicken while the rest of my family ate General Tao. Later that night I woke up and had difficulty sleeping because I didn’t feel well. The feelings of nausea and stomach ache lasted through the following day. I wasn’t ready to blame the food right off the bat, but did tell my family just in case. One minor importance about my family is our health. We rarely get sick. I haven’t been to the doctor for an illness in years. We’re a healthy bunch and usually don’t even pick up the flu. From how I felt the day I felt sick, I doubt it was the flu. I was able to work that day, just felt uncomfortable. My brother ate the sweet and sour chicken the day I felt sick because he figured, we rarely get sick and it probably wasn’t the chicken. Unfortunately for him, he suffered through the night and following day the same that I had. We did call and let them know, the woman who answered the phone said she’d look into it. For me the food was decent, but could have been better. The amount you get for the price is superb, but unfortunately it made my family sick. We will not be returning. I don’t know if this was a fluke because they really did seem busy and I’m sure if it was common they wouldn’t have been. But I’m not taking that chance again.
