In a world where Barnes and Noble Book Stores are hurting and closing, this may well be an example of what’s to come in a paradigm shift to the«New Bookstore». Basically a hybrid made up mostly of used books, textbooks, cds and dvds, mixed with a small new selection of what’s current and popular. You know those people with ISBN bar code scanners on their smart phones that you see in thrift stores, at yard sales and estate sales looking for books? It could very well be one of these guys. The store is well located right off 74. Inside it definitely has a a book thrift store feel. It is well organized, the staff is friendly and helpful and in general the prices are fair. If there’s somethng you want that they don’t have, whether new or used, they can find it for you online. New books ordered via Amazon that are eligible for Prime, will arrive in only two days. During my last visit I puchased a hardback in excellent condition and a new paperback for only $ 10.

One of the few bookstores in Shelby, Got Books is amazing and very inexpensive. As a student, I use this place for ordering books for school and also for enjoyment. The staff is generally nice and always willing to help. If your book is not at the store, they can order the book cheaper than other bookstores and in some cases even Amazon. My only complaint is that the business moved to Shelby some time ago from Boiling Springs. However, now they have more space for more books. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

This store was previously located in Boiling Springs, NC, right across from Gardner-Webb, but a few years ago they moved out to a storefront off of Highway 74. While the old house/building they were in previously was a bit cooler, they have a lot more room now to carry more books. This is a neat used book store that also carries new books from local and regional authors. There prices are very fair(we bought a nice amount of kids books last week for our daughter for only 1.50 to 3 dollars a book) and they carry a wide variety of genres. They also have great prices on used DVDs and CDs. Their stock doesn’t turn over as quickly as a bookstore in a larger area, but if you look carefully you’ll find some cool gems here. They’re always very friendly, their is plenty of space to browse, and the shop has a pleasant environment. Give it a once over if you’re driving through Shelby and check it out often if you live here!
