I’m traveling and I love camera shops. For several years I had a digital camera that I could not figure out how to use: I bought it and went on a long trip and left it home. I had done non-digital photography for many years. In June I started using the camera and on several occasions stopped in photo shops if I had a problem with the camera — which usually proved to be something dumb on my end. This allowed me to a) see camera shops b) talk to people in the shops c) experience how much they care about customers realizing that I was asking for help and offering to pay for it. The very nice woman who helped me at Shelby Camera & Video would not take an money from me for her help. She made that clear. She just invited me to come in. And, sure enough, she helped me out ENORMOUSLY. I also had a chance to look around and I’ve saved this shop’s card if I want to get another camera. Their specialty is the Canon camera. And they also do a LOT of photo shoots and videos for events. I’m from SAn Diego where we have George’s Camera shop and I also visited Mike’s Camera Shop in Boulder, Co. This compares very favorably with both of them. And it speaks volumes that I was invited to come in to see if they could help with my problem, was told there was no charge for their helping me figure out what was wrong, and was treated in such a friendly manner. In short? This is a real, world-class camera shop that is in the same class as some of the best of them.
