The salad bar is physically too small, resulting in a long line for wet bagged greens and decidedly average extras. The steaks were cooked as ordered but not outstanding. Fried shrimp were good. Small loaf of bread served with entrees was cold and stale tasting. I guess when you’re the only game in town you don’t need to try any harder.

What can I say… it was«ok». Nothing wrong per say just nothing special for the price. Steak was good but not great, beers were really small, appetizers were your typical fried food(cheese sticks, mushrooms, onion rings, etc.) again… nothing special. Staff was in jeans and t-shirts, dining rooms were crowded… but again nothing was wrong just didn’t knock out socks off.

Not *the* best steak I’ve ever had, but pretty darn good. Great, great salad bar that reminded me of the 1970s in all the right ways. Lots of history in the place. I look forward to returning! Tip: Don’t forget to hack yourself of a few slices of cheese on the block at the salad bar!

This place is obviously the best in the local area but there isn’t many choices. The salad bar is very good with many unconventional items but it does get crowded because the sheer size of it is too small, kinda inconvenient. They do make yummy cocktails. The ambiance is great with wood décor and dim lighting. if you get the right booth it can even be romantic. I’ve had several things but usually get the Ribeye. The Walleye is fantastic but seems small. The frog legs could be better, tasted frozen and chewy. Scallops are good and large. Prices vary from $ 12 per person and up. They don’t have any good choices for appetizers. They are typical frozen fried bar food appetizers. They haven’t changed the menu at all in many many many years and it’s really starting to show. They need to try to be more competitive because I would almost rather drive to Branson for a good steak dinner with some real fresh appetizers. The menu is so 80’s !! Some of the staff can be rude especially in the bar. And yes at times there is a terrible long wait with no room to hang out. It’s a very small restaurant and since it’s the only one in town you can imagine how packed it gets during holidays and summer weekends and such. I wish someone would buy this place and make a whole new menu. It could really use an overhaul. However over the years this place has stood the test where many others have failed!

Always good food! Great salad bar. Garlic toast is so good and the steak cooked just right. And Vonna Sue is back!

A great place to eat. The steaks are great and the atmosphere is rustic. There is something on the menu for everyone.

Not one person at our table enjoyed what they ordered. The salad bar was ok. Service was a bit slow, but they were busy. Save your time and money.

I had the grilled shrimp and it was very good for being in the middle of the Ozarks. The service is average and I waited a long time for my meal but this is a busy joint. Overall, I would recommend anyone coming here, just be prepared to shell out a little extra.(The lobster tail is $ 72)

The Steak Inn is a nice place to dine. They offer steak, chicken, catfish and some seafood. A salad bar is included with each meal, and is actually a nice salad bar. The garlic«toasties» at the salad bar are very good. A small loaf of bread is brought to the table with the entrees for everyone to share. As one of only a very few places to eat in Shell Knob, this is a nice restaurant.

As a part time local I can’t believe it took me so long to try this place. The restaurant is charming and the food is good and reasonable, which in my book is a winning combination. Can’t wait to go back.
