My mother lives in this area, this is her favorite taco place. We went for lunch and I have to say that this is now my favorite taco place. I am so impressed with their hospitality, friendliness of staff, restaurant décor and(most of all) the food. I had the best tasting fresh tacos I’ve ever had. This will be my new favorite place to go for lunch when I visit Shepherdstown!

Maria’s Taqueria is a great place to get a delicious bite to eat In Shepherdstown WV. The Maria’s «Chimi» is fantastic, and the Huevos Rancheros was absolutely delicious. It is a nice, clean, stylish eatery with great food. Go check it out!

Everything about this place is awesome. We started with the plantains and chips and salsa– the sauce that comes with the plantains is amazing! Salsa was very fresh. We both had the special, the ghost face quesadilla. Very cheesy and tasty. You order up front and they bring your food to you. The guy working the counter was very friendly and helpful.

I had a burrito with veggies and no meat as I’m vegetarian. Burrito was much better than most chain restaurants I have visited. However the Guacamole was not as good, very bland and paste like. Chips were really good as was the pico

Get the traditional 3 taco meal with pork and a side of plantains. It’s my fave. You’re welcome.

So very FRESH! What a gem of a stop. Fish tacos were delicious. The slaw topped crispness was excellent with a hot splash of spice. Lovely bright space with a great beer selection. It does have that college town feel. The place is immaculate with fast friendly helpful service. We will be back to try the rest of the menu. Pricing was extremely fair.

While on vacation to visit my GF’s mother, Laura and I decided to venture into Shepherdstown for a quick bite to eat and to explore the town a little bit. It just so happened that street parking was open right in front of Maria’s Taqueria aaaannnnnddddd, the meter still had 45 minutes of paid time on it. Double score! We popped in and were quickly greeted by the staff who promptly mentioned the day’s 3 specials. That made it easy because I was in no mood to read through a full menu. You wouldn’t like me when I’m Hangry. We ordered one of all 3 of the days specials and 2 Coronas. Our lunch came out speedy quick! So I was already impressed. The first special was the fried plantains with a jalapeño and lime aioli. OMG! the plantains were cooked perfectly! Not over or under cooked. Just perfect. But the real star of that dish was the jalapeño lime aioli. IT was rich, and creamy with the perfect amount of jalapeño and lime flavoring. It was unbelievable. The second special was the huevos rancheros with pork. This dish would definitely be my second favorite choice. The pork was seasoned nicely without being over salted; and very tender. I really liked the crispy tortillas as the bed for the dish. The third and final special for the day was a Maria’s house made fried chicken chimi. This must be their own spin on this dish, because it didn’t look like ANY chimi I’ve ever eaten. None the less! It was good. All in all, the place is really cool and the food is pretty darn good. As we were finishing up, the owner, Maria, came through the dining room and chatted us up a bit. I like when the people working and who own the places I eat at come out and talk to me. Kudos to them.

So good! My friend and I went a little overboard and ordered the huevos rancheros, fish tacos, chicken chimichanga, and a side of plantains to share. We expected to take a lot of it home as leftovers, but ended up with 4 empty plates because everything was so good! We still can’t believe we finished it all. And we keep talking about when we’ll be able to come back :)

Most people LOVE this place. I think its«ok» I love mexican food, and this just doesnt hit the spot for me. however its always fresh, the service is fantastic and they put real care into what they are doing. i think the food could have more flavor, and i feel like they overcompensate with beans and rice.(which i think is bland) overall, its well priced, fast, and it has a great atmosphere. it just isnt for me.

People used to cram themselves into the 5×10 ft shop just to get one of Maria’s burritos or a mixed pint of rice, beans, and many other fresh local ingredients. Fortunately, the shop’s success allowed them to move to a bigger location right across the street(108 E German St) with plenty of seating. Maria and her crew are very down-to-earth and nice! Also, the food is delicious; I highly recommend the fish tacos, and sometimes they have plantains with chipotle aioli which is deliciousssss.

The new location allows seating!!! Great vibe inside sitting at a table. The food… got better and it was already great! It’s now AWESOME! Really, the food presentation is like at a 5 star restaurant followed by a great taste. You can’t go wrong eating here. There is no wait staff but that is not needed… great service. Limited drinks but a good variety of beer. Enjoy!

Maria’s Taqueria is as good as it gets, Shepherdstown’s tastiest gem. Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, chips, guac… they have it all and they’re making it all fresh. You really can’t go wrong here. The food is AMAZING. I’m convinced the tacos are made with magic. They’re truly something special(and are a bargain, too)! You can ignore the previous reviews about the small(almost non-existent) dining space. The new restaurant location is accommodating, charming and fun! Maria’s colorful restaurant has the same delicious food and friendly service you’ve grown to love, plus room to enjoy it! Happy Dance!
