Who knew I needed a Post Partum Doula? Certainly not me… until I did. Home from the hospital after a C-​Section, hurting and clueless… thank goodness we were given Shani’s name to call and have come help us!
Shani is knowledgable, outgoing, warm, and patient. She has an energy that makes you happy to be around her and also feel so comfortable in her care of you and your child. And working with her you also laugh. A lot.
I know a lot more now about this motherhood thing than I did then and that’s due in large part to Shani. You couldn’t do any better than her.

Shani is a post partum doula based in Sherman Oaks, CA. I was referred to her by a friend during a difficult post partum period and she came to work with me when my baby was about six weeks old. I was clueless and completely overwhelmed. Shani was calm, comforting, and knowledgeable. She helped build my confidence as a new mother by teaching me about newborn sleep cycles and how to put my baby down for a nap. For the first time, instead of waiting for my little one to go to sleep, I was waiting for him to wake up! She also helped me with bath time, baby wearing, and many other questions and concerns I had as a new mom. I would highly recommend Shani as a post partum doula.

Shani is a doula goddess! I couldn’t have done it without her! She is patient, gentle, soothing, comforting, and absolutely lovely. Her personality, voice, and demeanor immediately made me feel so calm and relaxed. I knew right away when I met her that she was the doula for me.
My delivery was long and complicated. Shani was by my side the entire time, providing much needed comfort and support. Her gentle touch and encouragement kept me going with my birth plan. I am so grateful that I stuck with it, as I have no regrets! Shani gave me strength and comfort for countless hours. She made a world of difference in my labor and delivery. I would encourage anyone seeking a doula to use Shani!
When I was searching for my doula, it was important that I find someone who specialized in Hypnobirthing (Shani does!), someone who lived in the valley and could get to me quickly when I went into labor, and I also wanted my placenta encapsulated (which Shani did!) She is doula extraordinaire!

We worked with Shani to provide us with placenta encapsulation services. She was so knowledgeable and also very sweet. We had a great experience with Shani. She worked with my husband while I was still in the hospital, to coordinate the placenta pick up and the drop of the pills when she was done preparing them. Shani made it very easy and when she found out I had to have an unplanned c-​section she created an amazing salve for my stomach and c-​section incision. The salve has been very soothing and seems to help with the itching around my incision. The placenta pills have been great, I notice an energy boost while taking them and as of yet I have not had any postpartum depression or major hormone swings. We would highly recommend Shani for placental encapsulation and would absolutely work with her again.

I wish I had enough time to really share how I feel about this whole experience. Firstly, Shani has an amazingly sweet spirit that gives you that assurance you’re looking for when giving birth and becoming totally vulnerable. Shani and I created a complete birthing plan that was shared with the hospital that Shani took really importantly. I had a lot of special requests… like no immunizations, no shots of any kind, no eye gel… etc She also set up the room for hypnobirth and aromotherapy. The doctor said that it was the most relaxed he felt in a long time thanks to Shani! She walked me through EVERYTHING so that I would feel safe and knowledgable. I had an extremely successful VBAC thats to Shani and Dr. Yashapour! Im blessed to have met Shani when I did or I probably would not of been confident enough to go through with VBAC.
Shani also did my placenta encapsulation! She was waaaay more affordable than others that quoted me. She had it worked out with the hospital and everything. She’s awesome!
