Omg… yum. My 2 favorite servers are… that delicious guy and that lovely girl… prefer their service to the bar top, but I’m just biased. Must haves are the bacon and eggs, short rib(I sub mashed potatoes) and the St. Germain. Bread pudding is tasty, too. Will have to return edit when my brain works.

Sadly, I have to rate the food 2 Stars. Went there with three people. We had the mussels as an app, fish & chips, the Peasant chicken stew and the Peasant burger with egg. All pretty much failed. The fish & chips were very watery and tasteless, in fact spongy and unfinishable. The burger was also very tasteless, not much going on, no flavor. It didn’t help when I received a well done burger when I ordered rare-medium rare. Food was served by busboy and waitress never came back to check up on the food. The burger at «Plan Check» is waaaay better, hands down. The stew was very dry(very little sauce) and not much going on. The chicken was cooked properly but again not much flavor, I don’t think they use garlic or much of anything that we could tell. The mussels were good but the sauce is a fairly heavy(for mussels) tomato sauce, this did have the most flavor of the bunch but it was a bit heavy for an app. The place is packed and popular which is good to have in Sherman Oaks and the drinks are good, it’s a nice change for Sherman Oaks but I recommend to perhaps try other spots for dinner at the same price level. The apple/peach cobbler was good and recommend. the food we all voted as best of all in our dinner above was the onion rings. This is my second dinner, the first was similar not much flavor but not as bad as the second. I wish I didn’t have to write this but there’s just too many of places in LA to eat better food for the price.

In the area and what better choice than The Local Peasant… 20+ local brews on draft and a full bar with an amped up whisky and tequila selection. We opted for an IPA and a custom cocktail(St Germaine) and a snack of fried olives. Drinks were great and olives were ok. Prices are above expectation and ambiance is old school subway gastro dive. We decided to move along for other local color, so this joint does not make the list.,.

Fun place to go for drinks before a night out. Service was great and really on top of things, even though they were pretty busy. Plenty of seating, no wait on a Saturday night, nice. Décor and atmosphere is chill, dress up or down. Great menu both on drinks and food, I had a few cocktails and had to order onion rings after seeing them pass by, looked so good and tasted even better, worth getting. I will have to be back for the food, but drinks and apps alone are worth returning for.

THESIZEOFJENGASTICKS!!! BACKGROUND: The Local Peasant was created for the neighborhood. It provides chef driven comfort food that is prepared daily with mostly locally sourced ingredients. You can come in for great local craft beer, craft cocktails scratch-made by our expert bartenders, enjoy local wine and stay for our American bistro style plates. The Local Peasant, with its communal table options, invites families and neighbors to come together and feel comfortable to gather for a drink and stay for dinner. The Local Peasant’s staff is made up of mostly local hires, and we take great care to ensure the staff is friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. STATS: Monday — Friday 4 p.m. — 1:30 a.m. Saturday & Sunday Brunch 11:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday Dinner begins at 3:00 p.m. Kitchen Serves: Sunday — Thursday till 11:00 p.m. Friday & Saturday till Midnight Reservations for eight or more having full dinners Metered Street Parking EXPERIENCE: Peeps I used to «run» with introduced me to this watering hole, where I found their adult beverage selection well versed, their gurb to be mighty tasty, and their staff friendly and quick to deliver orders with a smile. The open floor plan with high ceilings, exposed duct work and wood beams, as well as subway title and wood walls makes for a wheeeelaxin’ atmosphere. Much of the seating is communal, making it a great place for groups large and small. Taps and bottles of Ales, Lagers, Hefs, IPA’s, a beer snob should be able to find something to tickle their pallet, and for the fermented grape connoisseurs, their pours, by glass or bottle, include, Chardonnay’s, Pinot’s, Cab’s and more. TLP liquid offerings don’t stop there, they also have a full bar and tenders of the bar have a pretty good knack of gettin their mix on. I’ve eaten here so many times, I can’t recall everything I’ve ordered, however, I can say that I’ve never had any bad eatsl and I will never forget TLP hand cut fries… really good fries are one of my weakness’. I kid you not, they are the size of Jenga blocks, but a lot tastier. Served up golden brown and tongue burnin’ hot, they are slightly crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Homemade catsup accompanies the fries, but if you’re more of a balsamic vinegar person, they’ve got that too. TLP is great place to hang with friends, family, or whatever and I don’t foresee me not returning over and over again. Btw, their signage is very low-key…so easy to miss. Keep you eyes open for the front door.

I really had a great experience here, from the service to the food. Ventura Blvd. has really become a great foodie destination and The Local Peasant really adds that gastropub flare with their swanky cocktails, great beer lists, and delicious foods. I started out with a refreshing Saison and ordered the Octo & Pork belly, chicken fries, onion ring, and mussels. The winner was the Octo & Pork belly. So tender and melted in your mouth. Moved on to manhattans, one of the best I’ve had! For dessert we had the donuts with raspberry jam, gone in 60 seconds! They do not have a happy hour on food, I believe they have a happy hour on beers which is not that much. Kinda pricey but fun ambiance, great drinks, and tasty food.
