Friendly knowledgeable staff at the front. Got sent here because the x-​ray tech was out for the day at my regular hand specialist on Ventura. I would come back again though!

I’ve been to this place three to for times. I’ve never had a problem with them what so ever. They have always been nice to me and took me in on a timely fashion. The only thing I dislike about this place is that they make you fill out the medical forms EVERY TIME you go in. It’s not like a doctor’s office in which you fill it out only the first time you are there. That doesn’t make sense to me. It’s illogical so and a pain in the rear. But I don’t go there often enough to be a huge deal. But still, this is the reason why I gave this place four stars. Other wise it would had been five stars.
I can’t understand some of bull that some people complain about. One person compliant about their drive way, another said that it smelled like weed inside (yeah like the staff are going to get high in there. It’s a medical place, could it be that a patient who uses medical marijuana went in before? Some of those people really sting like weed), I have a feeling that some of those who complaint have what I call the «royalty complex.» They want to be treated like queens and kings.
A good example of the «royalty complex» is the person complaining because they wanted her/​him to pay before the procedure and she/​he wanted to pay after. Are you kidding me? It’s like listening to a little kid bitch and moan because mommy didn’t buy her a candy.
I am one who does not allow any medical facility (including doctor’s offices) to make copy of my ID. There is not legal requirement or rule imposed by the insurance company for them to do so. I do t mind showing my ID to let them verify who I am, but not make a copy of it. These people have never given me any problems with it what so ever.
I was late one time for an MRI and they never gave me any BS for it. But I did call to let them know when I realized I was not going to make it on time. Like any responsible person should. I’ve talked to those girls in the front with no problems. I’ve even stood there and joked with them and they have joked with me. I think they are just fine. What can I say, I don’t go in there and expect them to roll out the red carpet for me.
About them running behind schedule. I was an EMT for more than ten years and during those times I transported plenty of patients in our rigs (ambulances) to many imaging centers around LA and they all run behind schedule at times. Sometimes it’s their own fault but quite often it’s not.
For example, during an MRI you are suppose to stay still as much as possible. They warn you about it several times before the test starts. If a patient moves they have to start again and that can take some time. When that happens it pushes everyone else behind schedule. Perhaps the reason why the technicians earns you typically more than once not to move.

The CT scan was fine. Tech was delightful.
Front staff was a disaster. Bad with communication and direction.
Watched while desk staff repeatedly confuse the name, address, and billing info of another patient.

My walk-​in appointment was reasonably timed, I was out within 1.5 hrs. Upon entering, it is welcoming, staff seem organized, and the one woman was very motherly making sure everyone was well cared for in the waiting room.
However, once I was seen by the x-​ray tech, he made me feel very uncomfortable. If you’re a woman or have any history of sexual trauma, please go elsewhere. I don’t have a history of sexual trauma, but if this guy made me feel as uncomfortable as I did, I can’t even imagine how he might trigger someone else. He was very touchy, immediately grabbing my arms to look at my tattoos and rubbing his hands over them. He also made sure I didn’t interpret any of his touches the wrong way, while still being jokey. Even so, his bedside manner came off as very creepy, teetering on the edge of sexual advances. He also made a few comments that were sexist and made a comment about race, both made me very uncomfortable. Just do your job and do it well, I was in pain.
Besides the creep factor, the results of my x-​ray were inconclusive and my doctor wasn’t happy with them. I kept telling the tech where the issue was, and he kept putting me in positions to shoot the x-​ray that didn’t make sense, especially when looking at the x-​rays. A waste of money and time. I used to have x-​rays taken every year for a preexisting condition, and I’ve never had an all around poor experience like this before.

I still disagree with this place… University Imaging Center. Smh to you people at the front desk and billing with your bait and switch.
JUST LOOK AT THE OTHER number of 1-​STARS — Trends don’t lie.
On the other hand, I’m sure the technicians and workers are nice and pleasant.

Every once in a while I go to a place and say «wow, that was amazing customer service.» I can honestly say that my experience at University Imaging Center was just that and more. The kindness of the staff was only overshadowed by their extra care to go above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Lately, I have had to go to seek medical services from several clinics. At University Imaging, the staff looked me in the eye when speaking with me with genuine care and concern. I truly felt like a valued customer and respected human being. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of imaging specialization.

My fiancé had to go here for some MRI’s and couldn’t disagree more with their low Unilocal score. Hence, I had to take the time to write them a review. The office is very clean, staff is friendly, they have a lovely assortment of drinks and snacks in the waiting area, and ample parking.
My fiancé has a very busy schedule and this office was kind enough to schedule 3 MRI’s for him in one session (other places make you come back). His MRI tech was Bobby, who was a very friendly and personable guy that made my fiancé comfortable right away.
Not sure what type of VIP service people expect when going to busy medical offices, but I definitely give this place 5 stars for their service and cleanliness.

I don’t understand the lukewarm reviews. I took my mom here for a brain scan and it could not have gone more smoothly. The staff behind the desk were extremely nice and except for them running about a half hour behind on schedule everything else went very well. The facility is comfortable, with plenty of parking and easy access for those who may have some disability. I needed to follow-​up and request some documents for the doctor and they were again very pro-​active and responsible. I highly recommend this facility. Please note: This is for the Van Nuys/​Sherman Oaks location.

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! Do not go here, they quote one price and charge another. Explanation I received was that it was in the fine print. I would highly recommend you shop around and do not go to this place.

I am very upset to have been so poorly treated by these disinterested and disrespectful people. I had an appointment for 3 PM at the Tarzana center. I arrived as requested, 15 minutes early to do paper work. I signed in but no one even looked at the sign-​in sheet for thirty minutes. I then said what is going on I am waiting for some service. I was then told to sign in and they would give me some papers to fill out. I pointed out I had signed in 30 minutes ago and was being ignored. I got a totally disinterested «Sorry». I then waited another hour before I got my MRI. So my 3 PM appointment was started at 4:15 Pm. With no one caring that I had to wait so long.
I am sure I will never use these unprofessional people again but I am discouraged that other reviews show it is no better at other locations. These people need management help.

If you think about it, MRIs, x-​rays, and ultrasounds are «freaky» things. To be able to see INSIDE your body? Whoa nelly! Admittedly, it is also a blessing and certainly helps discover the mysterious factors effecting our bodies. I am currently having some issues which seem to be baffling doctors and required ultrasounds of my mid-​section organs (liver, gall bladder, pancreas, bladder, etc). I was referred to University Imaging by the Urgent Care in Studio City.
University Imaging is located on a busy intersection with a surprise alleyway entrance which pops out of nowhere. Not to mention, it is marked as one-​way (in) but is also the way out (plus, it is only one-​lane) so it is an accident waiting to happen (is this irony?). Be careful! The entrance to the business is in the back of the building so don’t try to go in through the front.
Once inside, University Imaging is quite welcoming in terms of appearance. Instead of having a clinical hospital-​like feel, University Imaging has warm colors, a TV, and fresh snacks/​refreshments. This continues into the examining rooms which look more like a massage spa having low lights, wooden floors, flowers… one would almost expect the sound of waterfalls or birds! It’s very zen. The only negative is that the back area is squished: you can see into other rooms if the doors are open and you have to walk by the radiologists on computers to get to some of the examining rooms (this was the case with me).
I had to get an ultrasound so I can’t vouch for the MRI or X-​ray services. However, my experience with Dr. Farrokh Zandpour was excellent. He constantly made sure that I was comfortable and made genuine conversation (although sticking to protocol of not telling me if he saw something wrong). He even asked if I wanted to check my phone when an alert beeped in my purse! The great thing about him was that he went above and beyond the call of duty by checking other organs/​areas versus just what the doctor ordered. He stated that some doctors make their minds up ahead of time so he wanted to make sure all areas were covered. Impressive! He was very thorough and I felt I was getting my money’s worth (services for about an hour of ultrasounds cost $ 125 with no insurance. Must be paid in full on the spot. Credit cards are accepted).
My major complaint was with the customer service of the reception staff. Red flags went off when I first called to make my appointment. The girl I spoke to was quick to rush me off the phone and gave me no details of what to expect or prepare. When I arrived, the receptionist attending to me (there are always two on duty) was chomping gum in my face like a cow (how professional!) and was quite rude with an attitude. She also tried to have me pre-​pay which I had concerns with and I said I would pay afterwards which obviously upped her attitude.
A week or so after my testing, I needed copies of my ultrasounds for further doctors and I called University Imaging to ask how I could obtain these. The receptionist said their machine was down that day but they would be fixed the next day and that I could come in during business hours to get a burned CD of my ultrasound images (for free). I went in about 4 days later to learn that the machine was still down and so they couldn’t burn the CD. Of course no one told me so I drove there for no reason! Wow! Thanks, University Imaging! Luckily, I was able to ask the same gum-​addicted receptionist to mail me the CD when the machine was working in order to avoid driving back needlessly. The CD arrived a couple says later so at least that was speedy.
Speaking of speedy, University Imaging was quick to send my ultrasound results to the Urgent Care doctor who had my results within an hour after my session.
Overall, University Imaging is great in terms of the actual radiologists and ultrasound service but the receptionist and customer service end of things are terrible and makes patients feel unwelcome and like they are merely being a hassle to University Imaging. This is unacceptable and is strong enough that the thought of going back isn’t necessarily a pleasant one. I suppose however, that the important thing is the medical service which seems to be on-​par. Just try to ignore the poor receptionists and client care.
As a note: my ultrasounds were clear and now I have to see some specialists…

If you want a place that cares about patients and service avoid these guys. They are disorganized and appear to put customer service last on their list. I just wasted a day on an appointment they confirmed yesterday, but didn’t call to cancel because ‘their email system went down.’
Medicine is a business… and I’m taking mine elsewhere.

Before I went to have the brain scan my doctor wanted me to have, I called their office, gave their billing staff my health information and asked what this was going to cost me. The girl said she would check it out and get back to me. She did not. Several weeks went by and I called again and made the same request. This time I was called back and told I had absolutely no obligation to pay anything. It was all covered by insurance. Based on that representation, I went ahead and had the procedure. Several weeks thereafter, I received an EOB from my insurance showing I owed $ 200. I called, spoke to the billing department and was assured this was an error and she would check into it and get back to me. Never hearing from them again, I assumed the problem had been resolved. A few weeks later I received a bill in the mail from them for $ 200. I called repeatedly and repeatedly was told someone would get back to me. I told them I did not have the money to pay them and had I been told I would have to pay $ 200 I would not have had the procedure as it was not an emergency. Today, October 17, I called again after having returned a phone call of theirs approximately two weeks ago which elicited no response. Today, Lisa did call me back and told me her supervisor told her there was nothing they could do about it but make payment arrangements. I told them I was not paying it, I didn’t have the money and it was due to their negligence I was in this situation. That is where it was left.

I cannot recommend highly enough how friendly, professional and patient the staff is here at Sherman Oaks/​Van Nuys. I went in for an ultrasound based on my doctor’s referral and because they wanted verification of the issues I was going through, I had a CT scan performed as well. Not only was the process smooth sailing, they took the time to understand the financial burden I was going through and «negotiated» the CT scan rate. Try that at the hospital! Because everyone was so efficient here, the 3.5 hours I ended up being there felt more like 90 minutes. Do not fear coming here!

This review is for University Imaging Center in Northridge on Roscoe BL. I had to wait 1.5 hours! For my scheduled apt at 630pm. I wish they would have called me and rescheduled if they had an emergengy.
All I heard from the staff was I’m sorry, sorry to all the patients.
Well sometime that does not help. I realized once I went in for my scan
they have the new machines. This is why my Doc sent me here. But come on… I went there at 625pm and got home 10 minutes away at 9pm. I am still tired two days later. Do not recommend this office and I will be discussing this with my Doctor.
This really did not have to happen like it did. What a badly managed office!

I’ve been here a couple of times for myself and as well as taking my mom and each time we’ve had bad encounters with the rude unprofessional front desk staff. THANKS. but NO THANKS!

I originally had a really awful experience here with some pretty unprofessional staff members. A few weeks after posting my quite blunt review here on Unilocal,a staff member from University Imaging Center called my personal phone number apologizing. She said the stumbled upon my review and has taken it very seriously, going so far as to address the whole staff and people who could have been involved. She also sent me a very kind apology letter and a gift certificate in the mail, offering to talk more about the incident so they can further take action against those who were involved.
Even though my first experience with them was horrible, I can’t say anything negative about them since they have gone above and beyond the call of duty in reconciling with me. Thumbs up.

I usually try to avoid reviewing medical centers or anything along those lines, but UIC is different.
As weird as it sounds, it really is my favorite place to have any sort of x-​ray or MRI done. It was my first time at the Northridge location when i came a couple weeks ago, and i was really impressed with the staff and how timely everything was. Although having a CAT scan or MRI only takes like 5 minutes, somehow most places manage to make you wait in the waiting room for an extra 30 minutes while they’re busy doing who knows what. But here, i came, filled out a couple pages of my information, and they were ready for me immediately. It was nice, considering i was sure i was going to end up being late for work, but amazingly i ended up having over an hour to spare haha.
Unfortunately, i’m no stranger to MRI’s, CAT scans, etc.
When i was younger, i was disgustingly flexible and i totally went overboard doing the grossest moves that definitely have come back to haunt me in the last couple years. Now, I can crack my back literally every 5 minutes, my hips lock up all of the time, my knees give out and are really weak, etc. It’s not very fun but i guess it’s what i get for being an idiot when i was younger… i was just hoping it would come back and bite me in the ass when i was in my 40’s, not my 20’s. Oh well.
Anyway, at this particular location the staff was realllllllly nice and they didn’t mind that i drank cup after cup of their delicious coffee drinks haha.
the radiologist was super sweet and wasted no time, thank god. Whenever i get any sort of X-​ray done i always do whatever i can do get it done as fast as possible because it’s just SO bad for you. I’ve had problems before with having to re-​do a scan because i wasn’t laying in the exact right position, or the instructions for when i could move again just weren’t clear. But this time was super smooth, took about 2 minutes, and that was it! Plus the results were ready later that day, not a couple days later like a lot of other places. I don’t know. No one likes having to get any medical work done, but this place just had a really nice vibe and actually genuinely made the whole experience as enjoyable as it could be. While i hope i don’t have to get anything done for a longgg while, i know that when i do i’ll be coming back to UIC.
