Sushi is good, hibachi is ok but a bit pricey During cold weather this place is freezing until the guy starts cooking Turn up the HEAT !

Hibachi and sushi are both amazing. The only keeping the review from a 5 star is the service could be much improved. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place.

Great food but due to it being the only hibachi place in Sherman/Denison it gets busy quick, especially on the weekends. On the other hand they do have a sushi bar and you can always order hibachi there and get some good sushi

Ok so for years every time visited Sherman I was disappointed with the SUSHI here. coming from South Florida eating Sushi everywhere. They have gotten much better I eat there every other week instead of driving to Dallas. The wait staff needs some tweeking very rough about silverware placement and getting back to offer more drinks seems like children working there without any fine or even Japanese dining experience. Santos does a great job and is very artistic with his presentation. Rudy does an outstanding job with the Hibachi. the owner Mike is a very nice guy and talks with his customers often. Understanding that costs of running a restaurant is high but i wish they had some specials on occasion… Beer special sushi combo etc. i am not a cheapskate and spend money but a deal every now and again would be nice. Even a free Seaweed salad CHEAPCOST with a beer order, or a special roll deal. MOSt Sushi places have some type of special like maybee even once per week on the day before fresh fish arrives? Overall the Sushi is very good and i eat a lot of Sushi around the world, I am an angler!

One star for the Iced Tea. Stay away from this place. Way over priced and poor quality. Should have turned right around when I walked in to smell the old burned grease and oil. Be sure to ask how much for anything the non-Japanese servers offer cause it will show up as extra. Can you imagine 24.95 steak/shrimp and $ 3. Extra for fried rice. And server said miso soup was extra. Will never be back to this clip joint. Should have gone to chick filet

This is the only sushi place I’ve found in Sherman, and I was hesitant to come here after reading some of the reviews, but I actually enjoyed it. It’s not bad sushi, and it’s not melt-in-your-mouth sushi, but it’s good enough. Service was slow, but it wasn’t outrageous. I wanted a customized roll, and they helped me out with that. It was good!

First let me start by saying I was in the service industry for 4 years. That being said, I have NEVER, in my 25 years of life, asked to speak with a manager for such poor service. Well that was until I came to this restaurant. Highly unorganized to say the least. Terrible set up to order, and very poor management. A group of 4 of us came here to dinner about a month ago. We walked in, sat ourselves, after standing at the hostess booth for 5 minutes. No BiG deal. 10 minutes after we sat we finally got out drink order in and went ahead and ordered. Being that we had PlENTY of time to look at the menu… 20 minutes later a plate of food came out. No big deal, right? Wrong, we received the next plate of food 15 minutes later. The plate after that was 45 minutes after the first, and my food finally came an hour and fifteen minutes after we ordered. All throughout this process I never received a «sorry about the wait», «or we will have your food out shortly sir». Plates were just being dropped off and the waitress couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Not to mention our drinks would go empty for minutes on end. Just before my food came out I asked to speak with the manager. After about an hour after my order was placed. 15 minutes later a man came out and practically held my food over my head and said,“do you still want this?”. I smirked and said,“I wouldn’t of waited and hour and fifteen minutes if I didn’t.” He was not apologetic, remorseful or felt he had done anything wrong. «The last thing I got out of him was him saying“if you still want this I can comp your meal 50% percent, if not i will take it back to the kitchen.» Needless to say I didn’t eat what my friends told me was terrible sushi. PATHETIC

For Sherman, Texas this is exotic cuisine! But it is honestly the best hibachi I’ve ever been to, and that is saying something as I am practically Asian when it comes to food loves! Doesn’t disappoint on the food or the show. The sushi menu is pretty standard fare, but well executed and fine for the majority of folks. I’d love a few more true Japanese options, so that is why I’m withholding one star. Excellent choice for a date night or an average lunch or dinner.

5 Stars for the food but 0 for the experience. Ordered Sushi as an appetizer to our Hibachi lunch. With soups and salads finished, another group of 4 arrived placed their orders received their soups and salads, the cook shows up and we still have no sushi. Finally we find the server to tell her to forget it and she seems put out that it is finally ready and we have cancelled the order. Then she proceeds to let us know, in disgust, that sushi is not an appetizer. By the way, we were the first customers in the restaurant do there were no sushi orders ahead of us. Now for the weirdest part. One of the ladies in the joining group stated that she was allergic to onions. Because of her special needs onions were not added to any part of any of our meals. Would we have to go without shrimp if she was allergic to it? Why change everyone’s meal for one person?

I can’t speak on behalf of the hibachi but I can definitely tell you that the sushi was not good they had very slow service the lighting was bad too many bad things to ever go there again.

As Teppenyaki goes… this place is covered under 3 stars. Fried rice needs much more flavor… suggest adding bacon. Steak was ok… cooked medium felt on the tough side. Shrimp was good. Needs hot and spicy sauce. Salad tasted like it was made yesterday and had too much water in the bottom of the bowl. The vegies and soup was good. Just felt like they got lazy. Owner needs to come back and put in some WOW and this place would be great!

To set the mood. walking in, it was a little too dark for my taste. The soup was exceptional and our chef put on a pretty good show with a tasty meal at the end. Both chicken and shrimp cooked well along with the rice and vegetables. Our server was forgetful but my water never hit empty at the same time. That’s definitely a big one for me.

I prefer this place to most places around the McKinney, Allen, and Plano areas, including Blue Fish(over priced sushi in smaller portions that looks pretty but doesn’t have as much flavor). The ambience/atmosphere isn’t as good, but I like the sushi better. The guys at the Hibachi are great and put on a good show for you. My wife and I normally sit at the tables near the sushi bar so I can watch the game(whatever game is on). I’ve never noticed that the place was dirty, I bring this up because someone below mentioned a roach and I’m HIGHLY skeptical of that claim. If you’re from some place like Miami or Los Angeles, you might be disappointed because of the service or décor. However, I’ve had sushi in St. Thomas, various places in California, Baltimore, and in Destin, Florida, and I ‘likes’ my Sherman Texas Tokyo just fine. The wait staff could be better and we have had some lackluster service a couple of times in the past, but this is isolated and has occured during at peak hours. It wasn’t bad enough to even call for a manager, it was only slightly annoying on wait times and getting condiments /drink refills(on a Valentines day if I recall). The staff is young and consists of inexperienced local high school or college kids who could use more training. I don’t know that they have a general manager to take care of this and there is obviously a cultural barrier between the owner(who I’m pretty sure is making the sushi) and his staff. I’m also pretty sure they try to keep their overhead down probably because alot of folks in this area aren’t going to be up for dropping $ 70 on a sushi /hibachi dinner on the regular. And I’m not gonna fault him for that either(it’s smart business). All in all, this is my preferred place to go for out for dinner at in Grayson county given the choice. Been eating here since it opened — so at least 3 years. When it opened, my wife and I like the place, but wondered if they would get enough biz around here to keep going. Still going strong! Definitely the best of Texoma.

We were in the area for the week and I really wanted sushi. Stopped here, shared a chicken fried rice w/vegetables. It was pretty good, but not phenomenal. I ordered a fried California roll and my husband ordered the chefs special. The sushi was less than impressive. Haphazardly rolled and not very good flavor. Had to get up and ask for our drinks to be refilled. The atmosphere is very dark, makes you worry about what you can’t see. The bathrooms were awful. Smelled of raw sewage, the toilet was not secured to the floor very well, there was no soap, or towels. Won’t be back!

The food is always great. This restaurant offers a dining experience where chefs cook your food in front of you complete with fire and flying eggs. The Tokyo dinner for two is The best bet serving steak and chicken. Get the fried rice and put a little ginger sauce in it. The sushi is great too.

Love hibachi! But just like the sushi area. Getting drinks and refills timely lacks. That’s the only reason I won’t give five stars. Love the food though.

Came here with the family on chinese New Year. The service was horrendous. Asking for anything seemed to cause the wait staff actual physical pain. The chef put on a decent show but there was not enough food to feed the 7 of us. The salad came out way under dressed. Two people in our party did not want fried rice and asked for steamed rice. A little tiny bowl of rice was brought out for the two of them to share. Everyone was still hungry when we left. Avoid this place at all cost.

Went with my husband and his niece. They did the hibachi and I did the sashimi sushi. I of course had to sample the steak and the chicken that they had. First, the sushi was really great considering how inland we are. The octopus and three tunas did not disappoint at all. Very fresh. That steak was very tender and tasty. The chicken is cooked very well also. I think our server was very attentive. Drinks always full. She was very easy to talk to and seemed to enjoy talking to us. I really enjoyed our server, wish I could remember her name! We will be coming back!

Customer service was horrible! The male server has really bad customer service skills. When we got there and was waiting to get seated the server looked passed us and asked the couple behind us if they wanted to get seated. There was three groups at the habachi grill everybody else was still deciding what to get still. We where already done and ready to order but we passed us again and asked the couple first for their order. THEN when our soda was running he grabbed a cup filled it up with soda and topped our glass of soda when he used pitchers to fill everybody else’s drink. WHODOESTHAT!!! guess what the guy got $ 1 for tip! He was lucky to even get that! The habachi guy got tipped good!
