This hotel is so bad it’s almost comical. The staff seems to be completely at ease with absolute mediocrity to the point of putting guests, their belongings and their money in danger. 1) I had close to 400 dollars in cash(contributions from a prewedding celebration) tucked away in my locked room. The cash was stolen, and upon reporting it I was not contacted with any kind of response until I gave up and reached out 72 hours later. At which point I was told it’s never safe to leave valuables in hotel rooms. They said my room was accessed by two keys(when I know it was accessed by at least three, so they likely didn’t even look). 2) the housekeeping staff props the room doors open after cleaning for a supervisor to approve them. They are supposed to only do this if the room is unoccupied, but over the course of three nights we came back to our room propped open a handful of times. 3) we ordered room service twice. Both times it was missing items and incorrect. 100% failure rate. 4) my diabetic sister ordered wheat toast instead of white and was brought white. Twice. She finally gave up and simply ate the inside of her sandwich. 5) the bar is left open and unattended at random times throughout the day. The restaurant staff, which is directly across the way, seems to be unable to contact anyone to find out if it’s actually open and left vacant of closed and left unlocked. 6) they called me in the middle of the day to tell me my credit card was declined. Why were you trying to run my card when I wasn’t checking out? Also, what card number are you trying to run? It turns out it wasn’t even my card. They had the wrong card on the wrong file. 7) they double charged my boyfriend’s credit card at the chalet. After they closed the chalet(which we reserved months in advance for the wedding after party) the night of the wedding despite the 100+ people planning to go there that night. 8) the house keeping staff does not knock before entering the room. They walked in on me in bed, using their key to get in after 5 pm. House keeper’s name: Jerry. 9) all of this was met with a flippant and unprofessional attitude despite photo evidence of doors left open, names of housekeepers entering rooms at random times, and credit card records showing mishandling and unapproved charges. The general manager, brad, had to escalate it to the regional manager when faced With police reports. Still nothing. Voicemails left for hospitality firm, still nothing. Stay.away.

We have been going to the Atwood lodge for the past 10 years. Today we took guests to the Sunday Buffet this was the worst food I have ever had at the lodge. What in the world is going on? You people are squandering the last chance for this lodge. The people in charge should be ashamed of themselves. Do you people have no food service experience. This was an ‘all you can eat buffet’ and the only thing worth having seconds of was the salad, sad, sad sad. Very disappointed. If the lodge closes you have no one to blame but this management group that thinks this is acceptable. Come on Carroll county commissioners WAKEUP before its too late.

I always stay here when I’m this side of the state for work even if I have to drive out of the way to stay here I will. The staff is great and the food is also very good. It’s always a pleasure to stay here. Will definitely keep coming back!

This place is great! Unbelievable they had plans on tearing this beautiful building down a few years back. We stopped in here for lunch a few days back. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant, by the windows, overlooking beautiful Atwood lake. Ordered the crabcake appetizer and Greek salad with chicken. It was delicious. The crabcake was served with an Old bay seasoning aioli. The salad had plenty of good toppings to fill you up. We’ll be going back soon!

My sweetie and I came here for our one year anniversary. Both of us had an outstanding time! I purchased the«Romantic Interlude Package»; this included a variety of nice things that weren’t included in a normal stay, and we were quite pleased with what we received! As you can tell from the map, this isn’t located in a big city or urban area, but there is plenty to do at this resort – they have golfing, boating, fishing, and plenty of other activities. In the hotel itself, there’s a bar and restaurant. We really enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant – the food was quite good! Our room had a spectacular view of the lake; I requested a lakeview room, and the view of the lake surrounded by fall foliage was amazing and well worth the extra cost. Had the weather been warmer, I would have loved to eat outside and enjoy the view! The staff was VERY friendly; typically, some places give younger folks the shaft because they think they either won’t tip well or will be rowdy. That wasn’t the case here – we had a private swim as part of our package, and the staff more or less let us stay there as long as we wanted(we were only supposed to stay for a certain period of time). Also, the prices were quite reasonable. This place is located close to Amish Country, and spending some time there after your stay at Atwood is a great way to extend your vacation just a bit longer… :) All in all, we would definitely come here again! I highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a location that will enable them to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
